It’s a college dorm building with a 24 hr reception, excellent WiFi, close to two Tube and rail stops plus buses, but in a quiet and safe area. The room was large for one, with a single bed and towels, a sink with toiletries, a desk, chair, outlets, closet, safe, and lamps. There was a large window looking out onto a central courtyard and access to a roof sitting area nearby. There is a clean kitchen (buttery/pantry) for common use, with a stove, kettle, some storage cupboards and microwave (though minimal silverware). No cups or mugs 🙂 There are dining options in the great hall that are plentiful and very reasonably priced. They hold your luggage though it’s in a side room next to the desk (without a door) and you just leave stuff without any tags etc so best not to keep anything valuable in bags. Elevator building. Close to lots of shops and the Brunswick dining/shopping center, walking distance to many museums and tourist neighborhoods. Easy (and inexpensive) to get to Gatwick by taking a bus to the Thameslink stop near Holborn.

I’d booked a room with a shared toilet/shower but when I got there, there was a sign on the bigger of those facilities that they were going to be unavailable the next day. So I opted to shower that night and then had to rely on the smaller toilet (two stalls) which were shared by the whole floor. It wasn’t a huge inconvenience because there were fewer residents but it was an inconvenience nevertheless.

Located in a safe area with key card access to the buildings. The room was simple but clean. It was nice to have a full size desk, fridge, a safe, and a private bathroom. Good value for the price.

Finding the location. There are actually two locations - both in Mecklenburg Square. Maybe its just me, but it would have been nice to have received better directions and to know which building I would be staying in prior to arrival. The footpath used for the quickest route to/from Russell Square is currently closed and you can't cut through the inner square, you have to walk around the entire square to access the building I stayed in. I wished they informed guests ahead of time to use Kings Cross instead. I prefered the walk to Kings Cross, anyway...past several grocery stores and food options, plus KC has access to more tube lines and trains.

I have stayed at Goodenough College for the second time for my research stay. It is perfectly located within walking distance of many attractions – Bloomsbury, the British Museum, several used-book stores, Oxford Street, etc. King's Cross/St. Pancras is a 7-minute walk from here. The rooms have a lot of storage space, a table, and a fridge. I had a single bed but it was comfy enough. The feeling is of a student dormitory, but a clean and comfortable one. The place offers breakfast and dinner at very reasonable prices and you get a discount as a short-term.

The mattress on the bed was too soft for me, but that is just a minor thing.

A hidden gem not far from Kings Cross station. A surprisingly quiet neighbourhood but there are plenty of facilities including places to eat within walking distance. The two large buildings are very pleasant and are mainly occupied on a yearly basis by postgraduate students. Rooms are modestly furnished but clean and airy. The classically styled dining hall in particular is an unexpected surprise.

Although staff on the whole were friendly I did have one disconcerting experience with a staff member running up the stairwell demanding to know (in a fairly hostile manner) if I was a resident. I can only assume she considered me suspicious because I was wearing trademan's clothes (clean and freshly washed, I should add) which would have differentiated me from one of the postgrad residents. It's certainly a sure way to make someone feel out of place. It's the type of incident that could put someone off visiting again, but hopefully it's not a regular occurrence.

This is a beautiful old building in Mecklenburgh Square, a 15minute walk from Kings cross station and probably a similar walk to Holborn High. It was really lovely to look out over the square in the morning. The reception staff were very nice and check in/out were hassle-free. The room and bathrooms were spotless. There is decent wifi and good sized desk if you need to do some work while your're there. It was fairly quiet the night I stayed.

Not so much a negative as such but it is postgraduate student accommodation and has that feel to it. I'm not a huge fan of having to leave my room in the night to use the bathroom down the corridor but that might not bother others.

Very good location, extremely easy to reach any central attractions like Soho, Covent Garden, or Westend, shopping and museums or king's cross station. Good transport connections. Brunswick Center - a listed architecture building nearby with a good Waitrose supermarket and lively cafes, cinema etc.. Also lively street nearby with cafes and shops.. Very beautiful building with a nice green yard and roof terrace. Inexpensive breakfast, lunch or dinner in a college canteen. The room was spacious and clean. Also comfortable for teleworking. Good wifi. I couldn't expect more for what I paid.

As I have for the last three or four decades, the location and the physical plant of the College were most appealing. All in all it they constitute a wonderful setting for the accommodation. I've enjoyed it repeatedly over the past four decades.

Booking on-line has proven a challenge over the last several years. I very much wish that it could be improved--chiefly by clarifying what alternatives are possible? available? The above is my only significant source of dissatisfaction.

The location was excellent, centrally located and within walking distance from Kings Cross and Euston. The room was basic but it was ok for one night. The staff were friendly and helpful. I also got a 10% discount to eat in the dinning hall. The food there was good.

The bed was single, and the mattress was a bit too soft on the side. The room had a very tall window; mine was open at the top, and I could hear the street noise. It wasn't easy to close the window without standing on something, but the only thing in the room was a chair on castors. I didn't want to risk standing on the chair and potentially falling over, so I asked a staff member to help me. She stood on the chair while I was holding it, but this represents a safety hazard and should be avoided. Perhaps someone could look into this safety issue for students, external guests, and staff members.

I was blown away by the size of the room. It was way bigger than I had expected. It was very neat as well, and smelt so nice 😊.

My only complaint is, throughout my stay (3 nights), the toilets were never cleaned and started to stink a little at some point. Considering it's 4 toilets shared by everyone on that floor, I'd have thought it'd be cleaned every day. If they can improve the toilet hygiene, good enough hotel will be an excellent place to lodge

First night was in the bilsborough suite. Room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and lovely to stay in. I had some teamaking facilities, and a large fridge which I'm sure would be useful for longer stays. I then had to move rooms for my second night - room had a kitchen, which would've been handy had I been on a longer stay. The location is the best you could ask for in London, short walk to Russell Square, a slightly longer walk to Kings X. Either way, you're right in the center of London! With an advance booking this is the best location for the cost you could ask for. 24/7 staff so excellent security too.

The bed was a bit knackered in the first room - was okay as I was travelling solo but if I had to share the bed, it would've been an uncomfortable night. I extended my stay by 1 night (ahead of arrival), and I had to move rooms. That was a pity, as the extra night was £100 more and the room was not as nice - no tea facilities, terrible bed, curtains didn't shut etc. This is somewhere to book in advance, for short notice best stick to a hotel.
