Really lovely hotel. The room was spotless, recently refurbished, and had everything you could possibly need. I loved the range of bath products (they were locally produced and cruelty free, and they smelled amazing). The bed was comfortable, the linen crisp, and the towels fluffy. The reception staff were excellent, very polite, welcoming and friendly.

I loved the hotel and our room. The only area that I felt was a little disappointing was the restaurant: we had dinner there one night and breakfast twice during our stay. The food was okay (except for the vegetarian burger - that was great!), but the lettuce leaves need to be washed properly because they still had dirt on them (clearly very fresh, I suppose!). In terms of service, it was courteous and fast. I would have preferred not to be addressed as "guys" (I will readily admit I didn't say anything about it because I felt embarrassed and I never really know what to say anyway!), and not to be handed my glass of wine as I headed to the table, but rather be seated first and have the drink order taken afterwards.

We did enjoy our stay. The room was very nice, large with what seemed like a fairly recently fitted ensuite bathroom. The soaps were good quality and lovely fragrences. We also appreciated coffee and tea making facilities. We enjoyed one dinner in the restaurant, and two fine breakfasts. All the food we had was delicious and well presented. Reception was very helpful, as were the staff generally.

Our only criticism would be that, on Sunday and Monday the staff seemed stretched. It appeared to us as though you were short of one or two people to help at the bar and in the dining room. While we had booked early and weren't in a hurry, we could sense other diners becoming frustrated with waiting times.

A spacious room and large bed despite the description saying ‘small’. Room and bathroom very clean and comfortable. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food from their pub/restaurant was good quality and very nice. The breakfast was extensive with continental and cooked breakfast options available and flexibility around what you want in your cooked breakfast. Great location! Loads of local walks as it’s very close to the New Forest National Park. A number of quaint pubs just down the road. Not far from the town of Lyndhurst, and Lymington where you can get the ferry to the Isle of Wight.

The pub food and breakfasts were a little expensive. We had a room at the front of the property where the road was very noisy with traffic but it wasn’t too difficult to get used to.

Thank you to Ben & his fab team! A lovely warm welcome, with fantastic customer service from the friendly, professional staff! The kind receptionist was extremely accommodating to my mother-in laws disability- changing her room to a ground floor upon arrival. We arrived slightly late due to a flight delay and were very thankful to the chef & kitchen staff for letting us order late. The menu had a nice twist on some pub classics and was always fresh & delicious. Breakfast was very tasty with a good selection, served by 2 very lovely ladies! Our room was a standard double, nicely decorated, extremely clean, well equipped and it had a lovely comfortable, homely feel. The garden is beautifully kept and a great place to enjoy a drink in the warm sunshine. Highly recommend for a get away on the south coast!

Nothing! It was a very pleasant stay- they are doing a great job at this hotel!!

The location is superb for a tranquil weekend. It is a driving distance from anywhere else to dine. The hotel is charming enough and it is behind a golf course. It is just at the right price, nothing more nothing less. I imagine during summer the restarting is a must to visit to experience a good English summer roast with a G&T. We'll definitely visit again as long as it stays at the same price range.

The kitchen extractor is quite a smoker. Nice smell for about a minute after that it is just too much to stay outside. If you can, don't pay for breakfast. Breakfast is quite the opposite experience from the diner ( which seems absolutely great ), the breakfast is worse than bleak, if not depressing outright (they employ a very uncaring staff for breakfast in contrast of the dinner staff...it is ok enough though)

Such a beautiful hotel, lovely location, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Incredibly efficient and addressed any and all concerns brought to their attention.

The first room I stayed in had no floor space, which meant there was nowhere for my dog to lay down comfortably. The second room I stayed in on my most recent visit had floor space (which my dog appreciated a lot) but I was in an attic room. As a taller person I spent the entire time hunched over. Doorways were quite small and the shower was low (with no way to make it higher).

The staff were struggling to cope as there was some staff absence but they were really friendly and helpful, particularly one young woman who had only just started but was running the bar single handed! She was also very kind and patient with my elderly mother.

Dogs are welcome but some owners had failed to clear up after them in the hotel garden :( Due to staff shortages we had to wait more than 2 hours to get into our room but fortunately my elderly mother only had to wait 40 minutes for hers.

People bring buildings to life. Wonderful staff, exceptionally warm, friendly, yet above all professional service combined with an excellent menu, roaring fire, and wonderful location. My room was perfect; was indeed cosy, warm and hugely comfortable. Food and drink were well above excellent; and breakfast was wonderful. All in all, absolutely recommend. This is a charming hotel situated amidst some of England’s finest open countryside with inspiring walks around the villages and neighbouring estate grounds. All in all, just perfect.

nothing. all excellent

A beautiful hotel, in a lovely setting. The food from the restaurant is amazing. One of the best steaks we've ever had. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. A very good location to access the new forest for walks and exploring.

I didn't find the £20 per dog charge very reasonable. Surely the cleaning doesn't change whether it's one dog or two? Not only that, but you have to pay extra for a bigger room to accommodate dogs, so the charges ended up being an extra £60 for one night with two dogs.

Perfectly located in the heart of New forest with a golf club next door if you’re interested. Inside is unfortunately not as authentic as the outside leads you to believe but still very clean and smart. Breakfast was perfect and we looked out over the green to a herd of wild pigs walking buy whilst eating my pork sausages 😂😂😂

Small bit of noise from the attic room in the early morning and my sons room had air con buzz through night but minor things.
