Our cosy room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Lovely tiled bathroom - the shower was so easy to control and the Bramley gel, shampoo and conditioner was a luxurious addition. Staff were helpful and welcoming.

Unfortunately our room “Green Drake” overlooked a very busy, noisy road which despite the secondary glazing was quite disturbing. £85 for a double room B&B was very reasonable but the cost of alcoholic drinks in the bar was extortionate. The food menu was varied but fairly expensive e.g. fish & chips £18.50

The pub is lovely and very spacious, with great decor around. The room itself was lovely, with the additional add-one for free was a lovely touch. I enjoyed the fact the coffee and tea provided was local companies and not massive big brand ones. The breakfast was fantastic with lots to choose from on the menu. Looks like they can cater for vegans, vegetarian and gluten-free individuals. All the staff was lovely. They even allowed us to park my car early before check in to explore the town which is a very easy walk from the pub.

The prices for the food and drink in the pub was expensive but expected for a Fullers. There was a big family staying at the same time and they decided to wake everyone up at 6am with no control of their children running up and down the hallway, banging on all the walls and doors. However, this isn’t the hotels fault just inconsiderate families.

Stayed here on many occasions now as we have always had such a great time. Lovely clean and comfortable rooms, great staff with a great shower which is always a bonus to us. Also a great outdoor seating area.

For the first time, and not sure why but found the rooms to be oppressively warm. Really needed aircon but sadly none in the rooms. Also whilst we knew dogs were welcome we didn’t like the fact that guests with couple of huge dogs were allowed to bring them in to the breakfast buffet table (on leads) and allowed by their owners to sniff at the food that was on the table. These dogs were so large that their heads were as high as the table top height. It did unfortunately put us off choosing items from the buffet table.

The staff were friendly, welcoming and obliging. Our room was very comfortable and relatively peaceful. We had requested a view and were able to look out at the garden and hear the water from the brook nearby. We appreciated the attention to detail such as the fresh milk and bottled water in the mini fridge and the complimentary gin and tonic as well as the range of artisan teas, coffees and biscuits. The towels were of very good quality and, although the toiletries were fixed to the bathroom fittings, nonetheless they were excellent and wonderfully fragranced. Breakfast was most enjoyable with a very good choice available and we appreciated the fact that the staff had spaced out the seating arrangements so we were able to enjoy a leisurely, quiet and peaceful breakfast.

The Cromwell Arms accepts dogs and we were awoken quite early in the morning by the yapping from another guest's dog which cut short what had been a very good night's sleep! Although the menu for both lunch and dinner was quite interesting, there wasn't a great deal of choice and several of the dishes were somewhat "overworked." As it is now summer, a choice of salads would have been appreciated.

good sized rooms, comfy beds, clean, well-decorated and well thought out, complimentary drinks and toiletries a nice touch. staff friendly and efficient at check-in and check-out. breakfast fantastic. great location with rooms at the back away from the road so no road noise.

as rooms are all ground floor and close to the kitchen, it was still quite noisy until midnight as the staff closed down for the night. the connecting corridor door could do with closing by staff @ 11pm, we did this out 2nd night and it was much better but we didn’t realise the 1st night until we were in bed.

This was our 1st stay in a hotel with our dog and we thought a lot of attention had been given to welcoming our pet with a dog towel, shampoo and treats. We felt treated too with a G&T in the room, quality coffee machine, chocolates and slippers. We stayed in 6 different hotels over the week and this one had the best in room comfort amenities. Welcoming staff made this a lovely stay.

Accommodation was very clean but the lovely decor inside could be enhanced by some attention to the paintwork outside, just a bit of sprucing and tidying up.

the location of this pub / hotel is lovely. We were traveling to Peppa pig world which is 3 minutes drive and we stayed the night here and it was the best decision ever. There is a beautiful beer garden , with lots of tables and cushions , blankets for cooler weather my toddler loved exploring and running around. The food prices are acceptable and the food quality is great, do get extra sides with the mains we found them quite small portions so extra fries were needed. The breakfast WAS INCREDIBLE. Fresh pastries , fresh juice, then a la carte with a fantastic choice of eggs and Avo on toast , or full English. I don’t know if down south ( Essex) the standards are much lower but we were so impressed with the quality and freshness of the food . The bar/ restaurant area is so beautifully decorated and the whole experience was just great. Now the rooms, they are just like the pictures. Complimentary G&T? I mean wow. coffee pods to make a hot coffee in the morning, all sorts of flavors . Our room was a smaller one because that was the only one available but it was enough space to fit a cot which was kindly provided free of charge. The one thing I was surprised was the lack of cot mattress for the travel cot. my daughter ended up sleeping on top of the doublet provided because luckily we had a sleeping sack for her but the bottom of the cot is cardboard so I’m surprised they haven’t got the mattresses to go on top unless they forgot to put them in our room . If traveling with kids, walk around the hotel by the river , follow the river then cross is and you’ll end up in a beautiful park with an outdoor kids playground too that my daughter absolutely adored . we will come back for sure

no mattresses to go on top of the baby travel cots? the bottom of them were cardboard.

Lovely room with great facilities. Full range of toiletries provided, coffee machine with pouches, kettle, tea, biscuits & even a little bottle of gin (with the tonic). Good breakfast with selection of hot & cold food. Friendly staff.

The room position right next to busy road. The room temperature was difficult to control. You couldn’t have the window open (traffic noise). A fan and air conditioning unit were provided but were noisy & barely made any difference to the room temperature. Only able to have one cup of coffee or tea with breakfast.

The cozy bedrooms had that feel of luxury, the Dyson a/c, the stylish fridge, a large wall tv & the posh coffee machine.

Unconsiderate guests who returned to their rooms at 2am & played music high & chatted v loud. Ive seen similar reviews from previous guests. Obviously not the hotels fault but maybe some signs around the hallways reminding guests to be quiet & respectful when returning at night, would be help? Reception staff only there when we checked in so unable to bring this to their attention but chap from room next door went & banged on noisy room door! Bedroom walls are definately not soundproof

Excellent room decor with so much of personal touch...coffee, tea and chocolate collection in the room was awesome and was complimentary...we got 2 free alcoholic drinks which was great..the room is equipped with a hi tech fan, air cooler and a coffee machine...breakfast was good with a very good lunch and dinner at the pub...highly recommended..its a dog friendly property..

Only disadvantage was, room was little suffocating, it was hot without the heater, we used the fan when it was freezing outside, an open window or a central air con would be better. We did not try the cooler though, not sure if this can cool the room..
