Warm welcome from great staff upon arrival. Nice sized well decorated clean room, comfortable bed and great breakfast. Great tea and coffee selection in the room. There was plenty of room in their car park. As we were leaving, the general manager was sweeping the car park - joked with him that it was pretty spotless as it was, but he likes to lead by example and certainly has high standards. I suggested the only thing missing in the bar / restaurant was a real fireplace, which was replied perfectly with "We are looking into that, with possible planning permission required". Would certainly consider staying here again!

Room was cold upon arrival, but staff assisted and made sure we were ok (someone was a bit keen with the radiator controls, turning everything off)!

The room was great - really comfortable and clean, with lovely toiletries and towels in the bathroom. Charming historic coaching inn with lots of history. Dinner was delicious, with a great choice of English wines. Would definitely return.

Although the dinner was delicious, it would have been great to have had a vegetarian offer on the mains menu. There were two vegan dishes - but that's not the same thing! It's happening everywhere and it's not right - a vegetarian option should be offered alongside a vegan option, as there are still more vegetarians in the UK than vegans. They weren't able to swap a meat burger for a veggie one which was disappointing - that's an easy hack!

Room was veeery spacious! In fact it was more of a suite. Dinner was good, if a shade on the expensive side. Staff service in the restaurant absolutely exemplary.

The 'small print' on the booking is somewhat daunting with promises of fines and charges for damage etc. I find this somewhat unusual. I appreciate that they allow dogs to stay so it's probably a system that's been adopted to make this viable. Emails were automatically sent regarding express check in and check out giving the impression that the place is a large corporate entity with a busy 'front desk'. I found these a bit pushy and inaccurate. In fact it's a fairly quiet country pub on a main road. There is no front desk..

food was incredible very tasty and good sized portions , Mark and his team were very friendly and knowledgeable ,we took our dog with us and she was made very welcome and they made lots of fuss which she loves along with all the free doggy treats. we stayed for two nights and the room was very clean and had all of the amenities you would expect in a 5 star hotel ! . bonus of lovely countryside walks down the river , helped work off the extra pounds we put on ! thanks Mark and your fabulous team for a brilliant birthday stay ,we will defiantly staying again .

Despite a conversation in advance, there was a mix up with the booking, but the staff were excellent at resolving it. TV in my room didn't turn off, other than by switching it off at the wall. Excellent bed, really comfy. Lovely cotton sheets and squashy pillows. Delicious breakfast - and the staff offered to flex what they offered to suit my requirements.

A non slip mat in the shower would be a good idea... Also there is very uneven surface by the door to the rooms, which I had trouble with, esp unfortunate as I'm on crutches after foot surgery. It would help to fix it, or put hazard tape there to warn people.

Dinner was absolutely superb. Generous portions. The asparagus starter was to die for and my family loved their steak and ale pies. So much so, that we asked to compliment the chef who was thrilled. Breakfast was great, generous portions again. The room was very comfortable and being on a main road the pub was located conveniently for where we came from and were going to. Not too noisy and I could imagine sitting outside on a summer's evening having a drink. Loads of parking at the back of the pub. My cousin had gifted us a bottle of wine before we arrived and we were offered a selection to choose from. Staff was very knowledgeable about the local vineyards. Scarlet took care of us and was incredibly friendly! Beverly was on duty the following morning and was great.

A few drinks that we requested were not available - specifically cinzano (yeah, I know it's old fashioned) and there was no port to end off the meal?

Beautiful pub/hotel in Kent countryside. Loved the period features of the rooms. Tables outside to enjoy nice weather for a drink. Garden to the side again if weather nice.

Room was not ready on arrival, did find rubbish from previous guest in the room behind the arm chair in a plastic bag and also found an empty plastic bag behind footstool in the room. Disappointed because of it being Sunday full menu was not on offer. Young lady who greeted on arrival showed us to our room was lovely. She was also on duty following morning. Staff who were on duty in the evening need to be aware guests can hear their conversations.

The customer service at the Tickled Trout was amazing, even though this pub is part of the Balfour chain, it felt like an independent establishment, I was shown to my room and given a quick run through of the TV, bathroom taps - they're jazzy and some local information which was really nice touch. In addition to this, I was impressed by the hotels move towards sustainable travel, for example, there were no unnecessary miniatures in the bathroom, instead the hotel uses maxi bottles for Shampoo, Conditioner and shower gel and the water in the room was provided in a glass bottle....nice! Importantly, the room was spacious and clean and included sockets next to the bed and desk to help with charging devices or when working late into the evening. Unfortunately I had to leave before breakfast was served but the team prepared something for me to take away which was really nice of them and helped to set me up for the busy day ahead. If you are a business traveler looking for a reasonably priced and quiet stay I recommend this venue.

Really nice country pub, bar and restaurant. Clean. Good location, parking.

Room was lovely, comfortable - but it was over the kitchen. From early evening music started plus loud humming which we realised was from the fans. The kitchen turned off the music but could not turn off the fans. Staff were busy from party in marquee - said the only free room would be noisy from that. It stopped once the kitchen stopped working but that was later in the evening and spoiled the quiet we needed from a long day and journey.

Staff were particular friendly and welcoming without being overbearing. Facilities were faultless. unfortunately, we arrived late, travelling from Liverpool so weren't able to sample the evening menu. If breakfast was anything to go by, sure this would have been great. I would definitely recommend to others and I will be using again when I'm working in the area.

There isn't anything I didn't like. The whole experience was above my expectation, which wasn't too shabby to start with! If I had the time again, I would have wished for the traffic to have been better on route so we could've enjoyed the evening menu. There's not a thing that the staff at the tickled trout can do to change the combined fortunes of the M6 and the M25 so called 'smart' motorways though!
