The hotel is beautiful, lovely setting.
Room size was a little small but we did have a “cosy” room.

I stay at the Old Bell quite often, three or four times a year for a few nights. I love the interior design, Mellissa White and Polly Fern wallpapers are a particular favourite of mine . I love when I turn up that there is a friendly face on reception that asks you about your journey takes you to your room if you need a hand with your luggage . You can come and relax in the beautiful lounge /bar with a glass of fizz (complimentary on arrival) and enjoy the surroundings in this ancient building . The building is right next door to the Abbey which is pretty glorious. The food in the hotel is really good and is popular with non residents too. The breakfasts are amazing (and substantial). The bar manager made my daughter a salted caramel espresso martini which she said was the best cocktail she’d ever had (praise indeed) . I have stayed in cosy rooms and grand suites here, all of which have been clean and comfortable with bold design choices that work. My favourite rooms are in the main house with stone mullion windows looking out on to the medieval street and countryside beyond.

Beautiful hotel, very nice interior, friendly staff. The rooms are clean and have all required amenities. Conveniently situated, within easy access to all the lovely Cotswold villages. The breakfast options were really good.
The hotel was quite busy, the staff felt overwhelmed - rather long waiting times to order and get food, both at dinner and breakfast. At some point, it was easier to get up and order at the bar rather than waiting for table service. The coach house rooms are small and warm even though there is a small fan in each room. No EV chargers on site.

staff were amazing and facilities are well kept with beautiful decor / ambience and a quiet / relaxed feel to them. Outdoor area I thought it was larger but that's my mistake from the photos. Room was nice and clean, a bit on the small side for 2 friends but that's on us, not the hotel. Dogs were welcome, everyone was very kind to them. Food was also really nice, highly recommend dining there.
I would say that it is a bit pricey to go there with more than 1 dog since they charge per dog, not per room. It adds up quickly. Parking was available albeit limited.

Oh what a lovely hotel. Stylish, comfortable with pleasant staff. We were offered a welcome drink upon arrival, which was a nice surprise. The parlours were so nice that we hardly explored the town, mainly we just spent time in the hotel. The breakfast was delicious and included specialty coffees. The hairdryer was Dyson. Everything was exceptionally clean.
The bed was very soft and we woke up with sore backs. The bed was also a little small.

Decoration is great, very cosy interior design. Food was very good. Staff was very friendly and willing to help / solution-oriented. Right in the middle of the village, can walk out of the door straight to the river/field walks.
The rooms outside the main house are not correctly advertised. The ground floor ones are right outside the parking, you literally have cars right outside your window. We didn't come to Malmesbury to feel like we were on a Tesco car park. Fortunately, the hotel staff worked things out and gave us a room in the main - and absolutely gorgeous - house, which resolved everything.

The hotel is very central to Malmesbury and has its own parking. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The glass of prosecco on arrival was a nice gesture. Our room was in the coach house and we could access it either via the hotel or via the car park if we wanted to do so. There were several menus ranging from reasonable to expensive and several places to eat. Breakfast was very good. The age of the hotel and the decor provides a good ambiance. It rained a lot when we were staying and the lounge with log fire was a comfy place to which to retreat. The hotel is next to the Abbey which holds the sarcophagus of Aethelstan, first King of England & worth a visit.
Although there was a central light and several lamps, the lighting in the bedroom was quite dim. It would have been helpful to have a mirror on the wall or on the dressing table next to the hairdryer to see what you are doing when drying your hair.

The hotel is full of charm and some notable history. Staff are pleasant and seem to go above and beyond for their guests. The location of the stay was in easy access of Chippenham, Cirencester and Bath; these could all be accessed by road or public transport. There are lovely local walks and some fabulous local shops and public houses to peruse.
The stay was during an exceptional Summer heatwave and, while the building is old and staff provided fans, an investment of portable air conditioning units would have made the rooms (particularly on upper floors) more bearable.

We had an upgrade from the cosy room to a Character room. This was unexpected treat.Loved the slippers and robe .Also there was a lovely view to the abbey out the window Lovely very decor especially the wallpaper. Lots of nice lounges and outdoor space to relax. Malmesbury is a great location.
Not totally sure about the giraffes but the rest of the place was so fab .

Such a quaint place! Very clean. Staff are so helpful and friendly. Location is amazing! They take pride in looking after their guests. French press in room - fantastic idea. Plenty of towels available. Breakfast had a lots of choice and was delicious! Coffee was so good! As we had our 8 month old with us didn't get to check out much of the place.
Rooms are small but we had enough room for a travel cot (this was mentioned when I booked). It was uncomfortably warm in the room. Pillows were terrible. Awful for parking as its limited also mentioned on the description
