Ruth was so welcoming & friendly & has a truly beautiful home that is spotlessly clean & comfortable. Our room was huge! The usual tea & coffee facilities were in our room but the homemade Welsh cakes were a lovely touch & so nice that I asked for the recipe! Breakfast was the full Welsh for both me & my husband, using locally sourced ingredients & delicious homemade marmalade and there were other options available too. It didn't disappoint and we felt totally relaxed to take as long as we wanted to eat our food. The location of The Old Stores is really lovely for a mini break, we stayed here for a wedding 15 minutes away, but spent the following day exploring Montgomery, it's castle & also had a walk up to the War Memorial for the superb 360 degree view that Ruth told us about!

Nothing, it was perfect!

Absolutely outstanding B&B. Gorgeous house, tastefully furnished (and the bed linen is perfect, mattress perfect!). Exceptionally clean and beautifully maintained. Best breakfast we've had since we last stayed at the Goring in London - presented with genuine care and respect with nothing out of place. We only stayed one night and we regret not booking two! Will bring our walking shoes next time ...

The building was beautiful, being a bank holiday it was a little quieter but if anything that added to the quaintness of the place. It was easy to get to and plenty of parking opposite. Ruth was lovely and made us feel very welcome. Ironically we don't usually sleep very well when away, but the bed was so comfy we had no trouble sleeping! The bedroom and bathroom were amazing with everything needed provided, as was the breakfast! We would definitely stay here again.

Not a criticism by any means, just a suggestion of a bell by the flowers in the hall for newly arrived guests to make their presence known.

The property is right in the centre of Montgomery, a small town with a Georgian ambience. Although there is no dedicated parking, we never had a problem finding on-street spaces. Staying in Old Stores felt more like staying in a friend's house - a friend, moreover, with excellent taste in antique furniture and interesting books. Our hostess could not have been more friendly and attentive. Her breakfast options and presentation were exceptionally good.

There was nothing about our stay one could possibly find fault with.

I’ve rarely stayed anywhere so well thought out. Everything worked! Ruth is kind, thoughtful and helpful. I can’t speak highly enough of her. Breakfast was excellent both days I stayed. And if you’re walking Offa’s Dyke, it’s not far from the usual route, and an excellent place for a break.

Beautiful old buidling which is lovely decorated. Ruth is al very nice lady with an interesting background. Breakfast was delicious. We have been to hundreds of hotels and B&B but The Old Stores is definitely top 3 of all of them.

There was a sitting room adjacent to our room with a TV. Other visitors watched a political broadcast on TV, even with our door closed and a towel across the bottom of the door we could hear every word of the broadcast.

The old stores is Just stunning. A lovely building , Handsome and traditional from the minute you arrive, but when you go inside oh wow! The interior beats most five star hotels and Ruth is very welcoming. We loved everything about our stay here. Fantastic room with your own lounge opposite. Roll top bathroom to die for , and all topped off with a perfectly cooked breakfast in a beautiful dining room. Evening the china at breakfast was perfect . Every single detail thought of ! We are already planning a return trip. Montgomery is a lovely place to stay, steeped in tradition and very relaxed.

Beautifully renovated and maintained 18th century listed property in the centre of Montgomery, that managed to offer up to date accommodation without detracting from the historic property. Excellent breakfast with well chosen ingredients prepared well.

A minor issue but some old floorboards creak! We got re-accustomed rapidly...

Lots of character and lovingly curated by the owner. Plenty of room including use of cosy guest lounge. Located close to the centre of the very interesting, attractive and historic town of Montgomery. The owner was very attentive, friendly and knowledgable about the area.

Couldn’t find a fault.
