Proprietor was very accommodating, flexible and nice. Atmosphere on main floor is wonderful as you'd expect in a tavern built in 1752. Large bedroom with coffeee/tea service. Liked that drinks and food were so accessible by going downstairs. Amazingly good and rare location for trekking Hadrian's path.

Hard to regulate heat in room, control on radiator unclear, so had to balance with open window as in a lot of places. Double bed is actually two singles pushed together, which makes it hard to actually use as a double. Again, a very common situation in my European experience.

A wonderful pub with rooms - My wife and I stayed for one night as we attended a wedding nearby. The hosts Kath and Billy were really nice and very helpful and we had a lovely breakfast cooked by the lovely Jo. The setting is wonderful and would also appeal to those wanting to walk Hadrian's Wall. They also cater for occasional campers. We have a motorhome and often need a stop over place so we will definitely return as the location is super. Overall a really super place with lovely people who do their best to make your stay as good as it can be. 10 out of 10! Thank You

Everything was wonderful - I full recommend this place

Stayed here for one night when walking the Hadrian's Wall path. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size with bath and shower. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean and nicely done. The bar had a very traditional feel with good beer on tap. We ate in the restaurant which served good pub food. My steak and chips was excellent and perfectly cooked.

Stylish country decor and very comfortable beds. Spacious room, very clean. Dinner was high quality , nice variety of meals available.

Tea making in the room - either a pot is needed with the existing cups or larger mugs with no teapot. For breakfast we would prefer smaller quantities of cooked breakfast and options of cereal and fruit.

Arrived here during our walk along Hadrians Wall. We were giving a bigger room with a bath so we could have a soak. Room was large with a beautiful window overlooking the fields. Dinner was lovely and plenty of beers on tap. Breakfast was amazing. Unfortunately I wasn’t feeling to well so didn’t eat a lot. Would def recommend as a stop over on trail.

Nothing

Breakfast excellent - very generous portions. Could perhaps have had a cereal offering Location was good regarding general position but situation on a fast road meant that it could be quite noisy late evening or early morning affecting sleep.

Very little - see box above

I stayed here with a friend during my hike on Hadrian's Wall Path (we booked in advance). The Inn is right on the path. After a long hike we had such a warm welcome! The room was great; the meals were big and tasty. Sad that we had to leave the other day...

All was fine.... Nothing to complain about....

Everything was great. Hosts were lovely, room was clean and the area is lovely. Hosts were very accomodating. We slept in for our breakfast and they were kind enough to make us some anyway.

The only downside was the really hot radiator in the bathroom. It had a warning that it was hot but when I was stepping out of the shower and lost balance, I accidentally touched it with my arm and got burnt to the point where it left a mark.

The breakfast was great, the evening meal could have been better, but following an overheard conversation the following morning that they were short staffed with perhaps less experienced staff, so now understand this more.

Only the small issue with the evening meal
