An excellent Northumbrian breakfast with a couple of reseravations: There is no point asking for a poached egg if it arrives solid. I don't know if you use a heat lamp to keep food hot, but the bacon was usually almost incinerated and much of my breakfast on day 2 was blackened. Otherwise no complaints whatsoever. A great pity we managed to book on the two days you don't serve dinner. We'll make sure we come on the other days if we return. Thank you

Food delcious and worth the amount you pay, breakfast could not fault it, Staff could not do enough

Unfortunately the Breakfast does not usually start until 8:30, so I advised that I would not be able to stay for Breakfast as I had to leave at 8:30am to be at my meeting for 9am, he said it 8am, so I booked in delighted. Unfortunately it wasn't the case - Luckly a memeber of staff saw me sat outside and arranged my breakfast straight away. Amazing service and thank you.

The room was lovely and clean, nice furnishings and the bathroom was fabulous. The breakfast was exceptional, delicious fresh food always served hot and generous amount.

The bar closed at 8.00pm on Sunday and it would have been nice to be able to socialise a little bit later.

Loved this Inn. Mostly top notch. Staff, food and drinks excellent, especially as the lines for draught beers were so well maintained, plus lovely coffee. A place to return to, most definitely.

It was a twin room as we are friends and the beds were just horrible. Child size, extremely old, and uncomfortable in every way, which was a terrible shame as the room would easily take two small or regular double beds and still have plenty of room.

A great location for visiting Northumberland. The food was lovely, as were the staff. The breakfast was good, too. The whole place was spotlessly clean. A great place to stay! Will be back!

We were a little surprised that breakfast was only served for a 30 minute period. We spoke to the Asst Manager who was very reluctant to be more flexible. The next day, we read in the hotel literature that there was flexibility. I think this should have be conveyed to us by the Asst Manager. A minor detail, granted, but when you are a couple away and have no children to get up for as they are away on a school trip, the thought of having to get up early for breakfast when you don’t really have to matters. I understand the policy of not wasting food, the 30 minute window or outside of it does not affect the food waste as you choose your breakfast ahead of time.

Lovely local pub with recently converted ensuite accommodation to the rear. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast excellent and accommodation very clean, contemporary and comfortable. Lovely village location.

Sign of the times I guess but no food offering in pub after 4pm on a Sunday, pub also closes at 8pm and doesn't open again until mid-week. Menu looked excellent nevertheless!

Amazing cooking! We loved the hanger steak and salad. The atmosphere was welcoming and all staff were friendly. We enjoyed local ales in the front garden and a walk around the gorgeous village. It was the perfect starting point for a bike ride around Simonside.

Bedrooms are not at all soundproof. Next door's bathroom is very audible. Luckily for us everyone had an early night and we got a good sleep.

Glad to see that the Beresford has survived following the Covid pandemic. It has a nice friendly village pub feel. We stayed there about 2 years ago during the week when the first local lockdown was introduced, and the manager at the time was worried about the future. . The rooms were generally comfortable and clean - though the bin in our bathroom had not been emptied.

The Beresford is obviously operating on a very tight budget following the pandemic, with a very small number of staff having to work very hard. Attention to details are important if they are to avoid letting things slip. Meals were generally OK although the menu was limited. A couple of our orders for our party of 5 were slightly wrong ( missing items - or items on the plate that were not ordered. On the 'steak' night 2 of the steaks were not served as ordered - and one was almost impossible to cut. ( problem was the steak rather than with the cooking)

Breakfast was exceptional & plentiful. Only complaint timing was restrictive for breakfast as husband needed to get to work earlier & breakfast was 8.30am - 9.00am & only time earlier was 10 minutes, but it was explained there are only 4 rooms.

Possibly provide a light breakfast in theses circumstances & put it in room fridge in the evening before as there was a choice of yogurt & fresh orange juice. Staff were really nice, it was shame we could not stay longer on this occasion but we were guests at a wedding close by.

Such a beautiful place. The rooms were so lovely and clean and very quiet. The pub itself was inviting, fantastic ale...Run Hop Run! Friendly staff, very personable. The breakfast was fresh and could not fault anything. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend to anyone. Such amazing value for money. Thank you for making my stay perfect.

There was nothing that could have been any better!
