I recently had the pleasure of staying at St Mary’s Inn in Morpeth, Northumberland, and I cannot recommend it enough! From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the warmth and friendliness of the staff and other guests. The hospitality was truly outstanding, making me feel at home right away. The inn exudes charm, with its cozy atmosphere and beautifully decorated spaces. The rooms were comfortable and immaculately clean, and every detail seemed thoughtfully considered. What stood out most was the people. The staff went above and beyond to ensure my stay was memorable, and the locals I met were just as lovely. It’s clear that St Mary’s Inn takes pride in creating a welcoming environment, and they do it exceptionally well. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Northumberland, whether for a peaceful getaway or a chance to meet genuinely wonderful people, St Mary’s Inn is the perfect choice. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

The rooms were huge! The beds were very comfortable, large nice bath in my room. Cookies were left for me as a welcome token. Staff were always very helpful. Food was lovely. Breakfast in particular was very very good.

My friend was in room 8 I believe. His room was right next to the industrial extractor fan. 1 night it didn’t go off until after 10pm he mentioned. Not ideal at all. The hotel we found was rather expensive at £175 a night, although we did book last minute as we had emergency work in the area. Apart from this it was a pleasure to stay.

The room exceeded our expectations. It even had a little balcony with a table and four chairs. Now how cool is that? The staff were extremely friendly. The evening meal that we had was extremely tasty and filling. We slept well, the bed was extremely comfortable and wide. In the morning we had breakfast. I had a full breakfast my husband had salmon. Both were more than adequate and saw us through the whole day without need for further sustenance.

There was nothing I didn't like. I was however surprised that (and this is simply because we are becoming electricity conscious) I was unable to turn off the towel rail heater.

Lovely big room, bed and bathroom. Very clean, apart from the personal items belonging to someone else, that had been left in a bedside drawer! Quiet location. Dinner was fine, nothing exceptional on the menu but a perfectly acceptable choice nicely cooked. Breakfast was very good. The Eggs Royale was a very generous helping and cooked to perfection.The full English breakfast was also very good.

Service in the restaurant was very slow. There were hardly any other guests but everything took a long time to appear - including the staff. At breakfast there was jam on the table but no offer of toast. After the food and drinks were delivered the waitress disappeared and was only seen again when we were checking out, so there was no opportunity to ask for anything else. Also, we were told the hotel was unmanned overnight but there was no telephone in the bedroom and the mobile phone signal was very poor (we had problems on two different networks). I would hate to have a medical emergency overnight there.

St Mary’s Inn was wonderful. The accommodation was modern, new, clean and really impressive. I was travelling with my mum who is disabled and the accessible facilities were the best we’ve seen - the bathroom in particular was really well kitted out. Plenty of seating downstairs for drinks or dinner, food was amazing and staff were top notch. Could not recommend highly enough. And electric car chargers as well!

Warm, friendly, with loads of bar and restaurant space. Room was fantastic - very spacious, massive bed! Lovely bathroom and big bath and waterfall shower. We even had a roof terrace although didn’t use it much in the mid winter l! Food was lovely - we only had breakfast but both the continental and cooked options were amazing - fantastic quality and plenty of choice. Some nice walks in and around the surrounding area too.

Breakfast was great - good choice and freshly cooked food. Bedroom was fabulous - very spacious with 'lounge area' and massive bathroom with fabulous bath, his and her hand basins and big walk in power shower. Hotel was immaculately keen throughout. All staff were brilliant but a special thanks needs to go to Sophie, whose personal attention to us was exceptional. A bonus (and really a necessity for us) was a lift.

The wardrobe in the room was too small - it was not large enough for us to fit everything in despite the fact that we were only there for two nights. It was also too short - we were going to a wedding and I had a maxi dress which could not be hung in wardrobe. I had to hang this on the door otherwise the bottom of it would have become creased. The menu in the dining room was a little restricted and the 'bar meals' were not served after 6pm.

Loved the ambience of the room, toilet was beautiful , bed was comfy. Staffwas very nice. One of them even offered me a cold sandwich though she bought it for herself.

The shower wasn't working well. Kitchen was out of order and had no hot meals for the night or the breakfast. And they really need to fix locks of the rooms. 2 of other customers had the same complaint too.

The Location is good, not far from the A1. the Restaurant food was to a very good standard

The check in process was a bit hap hazard, as there is no separate reception to check in at, the reception is just part of the bar and on a busy Saturday afternoon there was some confusion about check in procedure. The room we had was situated next to the extraction system for the kitchens which was very noisy, but was turned off around 9pm and didn't start again until 8am.

Comfortable rooms, and good bar area. Staff professional and welcoming. Location good for what we needed. Nice atmosphere. Good breakfast.

Room located above kitchen so was aware of slight food smells. Restaurant ran out of food choices on Saturday evening, but we were given 10% discount. House keeping was a little erratic.
