Great location, we stopped to visit uni, would be great for stopping with friends, and doing a spot of shopping in either Newcastle City centre or nearby metro centre. It looked really nice in the evening with people having a drink on the seating area outside and also in the bar area. We paid more for a superior room, it was really nice, with very comfortable beds with mattress toppers on. Really nice bathroom and modern shower with 2 shower heads. Well appointed with selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate in room. Also biscuits, crisps and bottled spring water. Room had great black out curtains, and was fairly quiet, just heard 1 other person get up and have a shower in the morning, but that was probably as I had already woken up before my alarm went off. Staff very helpful on reception and on bar/breakfast area.

There really wasn't anything I didn't like. Great room, staff and location. Only slight downside was car parking is not very spacious, and when I arrived at 8pm, the spaces were full. I am assuming this may just have been as they were fully booked, and after asking reception they managed to sort a space for me at the side of the Hotel. If you dislike tight spaces or are very bothered about others parking close to you or potentially blocking you in, this may bother you if they are fully booked. I imagine mid week you might be fine. Also a slightly irritating flashing light on smoke detector over beds, some may find it reassuring, but in a dark room with blackout curtains, it is really quite bright!

Breakfast was excellent. A lovely atmosphere in the dining area. Good selections. I had a cooked breakfast which was hot and very tasty. The bacon was crispy and plentiful. The hotel was welcoming and friendly, great central location near to restaurants and cafes too. The Delux Double room was very pleasant, clean and spacious. I was pleasantly surprised. All the staff I encountered were lovely and polite. Would visit again, if in Newcastle.

Personal preference- whilst the bed was very spacious ( Queen double) it could have been a little softer with a topper but for one night was okay. The corridor carpet was a little threadbare near some doors and a little stained...it just took the shine off the decor. No available free hotel parking when we arrived. We were lucky to find two parking spaces close to the hotel near side street, we had two elderly ladies in the party and they just managed to walk and carry their belongings.

Great location, nice area, good room. Good value for money. Staff helpful.

Mixed experience at breakfast. First day they took our room number told us to sit down and someone would be over with the coffee.. did not happen. Had to find cutlery and mugs on another table and help ourselves to a pot of not nice coffee. Self catering food was fair however. Next day same thing but they did come and serve us and we had a nice fresh coffee. Third day it was service only. But quick, food freshly cooked etc. so each day it got better. Am presuming they resort to self service when busy.

About a 10-minute walk from the metro station. Easy to get all Newcastle locations. Friendly staff and lovely bar. Room was big and clean.

The room looked nice and clean but the net curtain was grey and partially hanging off in places. As the main curtains were open this was the first thing I saw. Such any easy fix to make the room nice. The seal on the bottom of the bath shower door didn't actually seal the water in when you had a shower, so floor got soaked. Either that or there's a leak. These were small things which are easily fixable, but I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.

room was large and well maintained as was the en suite. the hotel public areas are beautiful and luxurious. staff were very welcoming but Newcastle always is

because it's a bit of a night life area (lots of students around) it can be quite loud if your room over looks the main road. we had a group of people drunkenly singing as they were making their way home at 1:30am. The window was cracked so if closed it might not have disturbed me. mattress was a bit too firm but that's a personal preference. oh no plug socket next to the bed which meant my phone had to charge across the room which was upsetting at 6:45 when I had to drag myself up to turn the alarm off

Rooms were exceptionally clean, Fairly spacious with great sized bathroom & bed was firm with quality duvet. Breakfast was very nice with good Choice of hot & cold buffet. Personally speaking I like a coffee machine so I can help myself rather than a member of staff refilling my mug but that's a very minor thing. Staff were all really lovely. I was dropping my son at Uni so needed a Hotel for myself & would definitely stay here again, A really lovely hotel with great staff.

Only gripe is the parking situation I. I arrived at around 7pm on a Saturday night & all the Hotels parking was full, All surrounding streets are permit zones & non residents can only park after 10pm on a Saturday!! Fortunately I explained the situation to the young guy at reception who gave me his space & Parked elsewhere, I was exhausted after a very long & 'emotional' day & this guy could not have been more helpful so I really appreciated it.

The room was excellent, one of the better hotel rooms I've ever had the pleasure of staying in (even if it was a long way down the hall 😁).

Lack of parking. Didn't know about the small carpark at the rear but even that was full. Definitely nowhere near enough parking for the size of the hotel. I had to use on-street parking but (fortunately) this can be prepaid for at the machine (no app needed) but would be expensive if I had had to leave the car there all day. Breakfast choice was great but service could have been better; the table was not reset when I was told it would be and tea or coffee was never offered! Staff seemed happy to seat you and clear the table, even when I was not finished, but zero interaction in between.

A nice stay at the Caledonian hotel. The Hotel is located well and easy to find. The parking was excellent. The evening meal we had within the Bar was very good with a wide range of choices and something for everybody. Breakfast the following morning was equally good with a wide range of options. The room was good, clean and the facilities adequate for our requirements. All of the staff we interacted with were excellent.

The building is relatively old and as such things like the floorboards moved far more than you'd expect in a newer property. It was interesting when somebody walking in the corridor could be felt on the floorboards in your room.
