We spent 3 nights in The Crown Inn, sleeping in a bedroom in the main building. The bed was very comfortable. The location is great, near enough to the main roads to get around the area, but rural enough to be very peaceful. It was lovely weather so we made use of the lovely beer garden. The owner and his team were all very friendly and welcoming. We only ate in the Inn one evening, finding the food to be very enjoyable. A continental breakfast was included, which had everything we could have asked for. Cooked breakfasts were available and we chose to pay for a full English one morning at what is a very reasonable price. Would highly recommend this Inn and not hesitate to return if we visit the area again.

Nothing.

We loved the atmosphere of the pub and its gardens. We had a lovely family room that had great details like flowers and books to read. Room was spacious and beds were also quite comfortable. We had a hugh bathroom, however the shower was somehow funny. ;)

We had the feeling, that the host didn't really had time for us or wasn't really interested in talking to us. Which was a pitty because we really enjoyed the place even thought its in the middle of nowhere. Breakfast was really good. But same problem here. Noone was really interested in talking to us. So I had to wait for several minutes to ask some for toast.

The Crown Inn is beautifully situated in a pretty hamlet between key places we needed to be for a wedding. Near to golf and the sea and beautiful villages. Loved that the locals use the lovely old pub for an evening drink so it's busy enough to have a lovely atmosphere but not rowdy, just very friendly. Lovely fires on to take off the English evening chill in the bar. Very friendly and helpful staff - everyone was just a pleasure to talk to. All run smoothly by the lovely owner, Tim, who was really helpful and very present on site. The rooms have more extras, like a boutique hotel, as everyone else has mentioned: Sherry in decanters and homemade biscuits and lots of other helpful extras. The rooms are lovely. Beds very comfortable - can't usually sleep in strange beds but no problem here! Also very fresh smelling, bright white sheets which I loved. Fantastic shower in the family room with a huge bathroom. Great parking area at the back so not a tight squeeze. The food was lovely and better than the usual pub grub. The breakfast was great - lovely home made mueseli and thick creamy yoghurt. Fresh cooked breakfast was a little extra so worth it if you want it (only a token amount more than the continental which came free with the room). We'd all go back and stay again as it was so relaxing and felt very homely.

Nothing about the Crown Inn but Booking.com atill need to sort out why they charged me for an extra room which I cancelled on the 29 January 2024!

We love staying in places like this. Old and lots of history with real atmosphere. Great fire places as well. Love to come back in winter. It was also great to wake up to ONLY. Sounds of the birds outside.

Loved everything. The only thing I found a bit miss leading was breakfast! When making my booking on booking.com it said breakfast included. But when coming for breakfast it was only continental breakfast was included. Not sure if this a pub issue or a booking.com issue. But feel this should be made clear when booking. I could hear the staff saying this to everyone as soon as sitting down so got the feeling they needed to say this before they thought other wise. Ie maybe this comes up a lot.

We were looking for a relaxing break in Cornwall and are we glad we found The Crown Inn. Made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived .The accomodation (garden room )which overlooked the lovely mature gardens was very tastefully decorated with some little special touches.Reminds you of a little country cottage Beds very comfortable with quality bedding, rooms and shower room spotlessly clean. Small bottle of milk left outside front door every morning for your tea or coffee .Clotted cream cookies and decanter of sherry if you fancied it. We had breakfast and dinners during our stay Great food all locally sourced with a great service .Beautiful garden area for food and drink which was busy all day with a lively atmosphere .Very popular with the locals who made us very welcome .Bar and restaurant full of 12th Century character .Good selection of beers and ciders ( I was happy) and gins (so wife was happy)We would not hesitate to stay at The Crown Inn again and have recommended it to family and friends.Very welcoming owners where nothing is too much trouble and a wonderful team behind them. All the staff have respect for Jo and Tim and are proud of what they have achieved .Come away from The Crown Inn at Lanlivery completely relaxed and wanting to return soon Michael and Suzanne -East Sussex

Fantastic location, great little pub really well run with brilliant staff. Room quiet, clean and well decorated, really like the little touches, like having a little book shelf for guests, homemade shortbread and fresh milk delivered in the morning.

Can't really fault anything but just a recommendation, breakfast would benefit from a loaf of fresh bread or bread rolls to go with the ham and cheese and maybe some other fruit options, strawberries, tinned peaches etc.

Its a beautiful 800 year old Inn, the owner is really attentive and helpful and very present. It’s a very unique place to stay if you want something a bit different from your average humdrum hotel and the room feels like a home from home. The place has loads of lovely plants outside and it feels very peaceful. The personal touches (especially the incredible shortbread in the room) were such a nice touch.

The room we stayed in was absolutely lovely but the bathroom could have done with a bit of an update

What a beautiful place, quiet, relaxed & peaceful & the staff were all friendly & helpful. Super comfey beds & some lovely touches in our room. ....& the food was really nice too. It was pretty close to the place we needed to go, so was in every way great. I won't hesitate to stay there again.

There was certainly nothing major. Minor niggles - could have done wigh a bit more milk & the loo seat was a bit loose All totally small stuff so made so made no diifference to our wonderful stay.

This is a beautiful property set in gorgeous gardens. The staff were fantastic and there were some great touches like home made shortbread and a carafe of apple sherry to enjoy! The room was spotless and there was everything you could want there. There was a plentiful supply of teas and coffees and the very cute delivery of a mini bottle of milk in the morning. The decor was very quaint and stylish. It felt very personal. A wonderful stay! I’d definitely go back!

Lovely old pub and nice pretty beer garden. Convenient location for the Eden Project session we wanted to attend. Transport down to Eden and back was offered to be arranged which was so helpful, it meant we could leave the car and both able to relax and enjoy the night even more. Breakfast (included) was plenty lots of choice (continental) but there was also a small menu for cooked if you wanted it and reasonably priced. The room was a good size and comfortable. Big car park so no worries about parking.

The room allocated to us was in the pub itself (as there are rooms in separate buildings outside the pub) and we found it a little noisy as we could hear conversations below us in the bar. It didn’t bother us too much as we were out the rest of the night, but to be aware of this. Fresh milk delivered to the room only in the morning and no fridge provided to keep it in. If driving to Eden and back from the pub a lot of small lanes width of the car. We were grateful for the taxi service!
