What a find!! Beryl and Barry are amazing hosts - so friendly, and Beryl is an encyclopaedia for local information of things to do and places to go, and nothing was too much trouble for them. The room was a good size, spotlessly clean, as was the en suite which had a good-sized walk in shower, and there were even extra little touches like a box with paracetamol, anti-histamines, cold and flu tablets etc in, a wall-mounted bottle opener, wine glasses, dressing gowns and slippers! The breakfast was great, with orange juice, a choice of cereals, full Welsh cooked breakfast (with quality bacon, not the wafer-thin stuff you get in some places) - or you could get a lighter breakfast such as scrambled egg on toast - tea (including the fruity and mint stuff) and coffee, toast and marmalade/jam. The location is great - a short walk to the pubs/restaurants of Porthmadog and to the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway. Gwynfa would certainly be our first choice for a place to stay if we went back to Porthmadog.
Can't find fault with anything.

We had a lovely stay here. Beryl gave us and our little dog a lovely warm welcome. We had a great room with everything we could have wanted. It was nice to stay somewhere with a personal touch. The breakfasts were lovely. There is a great deal to do in the local area from a tourist’s point of view. Would definitely come and stay here again if we are in the area. Thank you so much!
Nothing - it was great

The location for us was spot on. Less than 2 mile taxi ride. The breakfast was first class. Nothing was to much trouble. I asked the night before whether the tomatoes were fresh or tinned. As they were fresh a tin of plum tomatoes was fetched from the supermarket for me. Our room overlooked a well manicured garden to the front and the same at the rear from the dining room window with an abundance of birds in the garden.
Nothing.

Gwynfa is like the best B&Bs fifty years ago. I had come to the conclusion that "they don't make 'em that way any more" – until I came to Gwynfa. It proved to be like the good old B&Bs I could find in the seventies. The landlady, Beryl Barwell, is a most sympathetic woman who keeps a well-equipped, tidy, clean guesthouse, with an excellent Welsh Breakfast. Would you imagine a landlady who kisses you goodbye after your stay? Everything in Porthmadog is within walking distance.
There is nothing I didn't like. It is hardly possible for a B&B to be better.

The hostess Beryl is incredibly welcoming and goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. She is fun and a good conversationalist. She made our stay 100 times better. It was such a pleasure to meet her. The location of the place is perfect for staying at Porthmadog and easy access to any road. The room was very clean and well organised, smelled nicely. The bed was very comfy.

Couldn't ask for more. The hosts were welcoming and friendly, and the accommodation was clean and well presented. It really did feel like a home from home. It is perfectly located in the heart of Porthmadog with picturesque views of the mountains and opposite the shops, there is seating at the front of the property. Beryl provided us with all the local information to explore this beautiful part of the world. Our breakfast preferences were taken upon arrival and served between 7.45 & 8.45am. They had a selection of cereals, toast, and jams accompanied by a well presented and extremely tasty cooked breakfast served with orange juice and a pot of tea/coffee. Thanks again for a lovely stay, Beryl & Barry were sure to be back again. Gareth & Tara.
Nothing. Everything was perfect.

The staff were excellent and very obliging and I would recommend this to anyone wishing to stay in Portmadog as I intend to return at a later date as we received a very warm welcome.
As I have mobility problems the stairs were manageable with a hand rail on each side of the stairs. We intend returning to this venue at a later date

Enjoyable stay at Gwynfa. Great location for sightseeing nearby and shops/supermarkets. Excellent breakfast with perfect fried bread. The room is cosy, spotlessly clean and well look after. Our host Beryl is friendly and made good suggestions for trips especially for us without a car. Highly recommend for this place.

Beryl was most welcoming, made us feel at home. There were many extra touches that were nicely done (magazines, simple medication, fridge and wine glasses etc in room). Very clean and comfortable. Tasty and filling vegetarian breakfast.
