Me and my partner visited in January for a 2 night-long weekend. Got the top room, with maybe the best views in Portree! Cozy (not super-spacious) room, but more than enough when you spend most of the day out and about. Very comfy bed, and boiler and coffee in the room. Portree is a cozy city in a fantastic location obviously, but note that not everything is open in winter, so there are fewer restaurants to chose from.

Only very minor things: Didn't meet any staff in person, and no breakfast, but I understand that keeps the cost down, and didn't really matter for our part. A lot of narrow stairs up to our room, so some people might prefer the room on the ground floor better.

The self check in was so easy after receiving clear instructions on this. The hotel itself is in an amazing spot to view the harbour. Close by to the local shops for whatever you need. I was in room 5 for a single person and it was ideal, everything you needed was inside. Views from the window were great too. Bed was really comfortable too. I will definitely stay here again and I highly recommend. Wasn’t a lot of car parking spaces but thankfully there was a space available when I arrived. Additional free parking can be found in other streets. Overall great wee place to stay!

Excellent location. Check in was easy. Room and bathroom were both very clean. No issues parking on site.

The room we were in was very small-bathroom was the size of a closet. Other rooms looked bigger so it could be we just booked the smallest one? The wifi did not work well in our room. There is no lift so having to walk your bags up 3 flights may be an issue if you have mobility limitations. We had no problems parking but parking is limited (7 spots for 10 rooms) and first come first served, so in the busy season may be an issue? Watch the curb was you pull into the car park spots, it’s a bit high if you’re not expecting it in a rental car. It was not an issue for us because we read a review where someone mentioned it so we were prepared!

beautiful and cosy rooms with an absolutely breathtaking views of the harbour and the pretty coloured houses if you book a sea view room! We booked a stay here for 2 night while doing a tour of Isle of Skye! It’s such a beautiful and cosy guest house. Super clean and organised with perfect heating unlike other hotels where we cannot increase the heating over a certain temperature as they lock it. It was my partners birthday, and I had requested them if they can provide with a small cake or a pastry since we didn't know much about Portree and our arrival was going to be 7pm. They had refused earlier since it’s a self service guest house and the cake might get spoiled but to our surprise there was a cute chocolate cake along with a birthday card for him!! It was such a sweet touch and added to our experience. Big thankyou to the team at Coolin view!

we stayed in room 10. It was a good size room, with a comfy bed and everything you need for a few days stay. The room was clean and well maintained. Checking in and out was simple and straight forward. The location is great and within a short walk of the local amenities. We would definitely stay here again.

We arrived late in the day and there were no parking spaces nearby so had to park on the local pay and display and move the car by 8am or go and pay at 8am.

Very good central location with wonderful view. The owners helped us reserve a table at restaurants during a very busy season. Clean and good size room.

On Booking.com, the property is displayed as having free parking. However, one day before our arrival, we were notified by email from the owner that due to limited parking slots on-site, it operates on a first-come, first-served basis. If no slots are available, we would need to look for parking nearby.

The hosts of Coolin View were the best we worked with in Scotland! They were very quick with responses, and when we had a small miscommunication with booking.com, they got down to the bottom of it immediately. We arrived to Portee late (after hosts had left for the evening) and they even made sure to send us a message asking how our arrival/journey was. Check-in after hours couldn't have been simpler, which we were very grateful. We had a Harbour facing view which ended up being one of the best views in the town; we woke up to the sun rising over the horizon, shining a beautiful light on the cute multi- colored buildings. My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer! Will definitely stay here again if we find ourselves back on the Isle of Skye

Nothing to do with the property itself; however it was a bit difficult finding somewhere with availability for dinner after 7:30/8pm, and many places were closed by 9pm. I recommend calling ahead to book a reservation if you plan on eating late.

Excellent location, convenient to restaurants, and we had a wonderful view from our window. Although our room was quite small, it contained everything we needed. While the proprietors were off-site, their instructions made everything straight forward. Free private parking directly across the street.

Our room was very tight with little space, both in the bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom sink was fitted into the top of the toilet tank, very small and awkward to access. (We saw that other bedrooms were larger.) Note also it is room with no breakfast offered.

The best location of Portree ! Right in front of the harbor and the famous viewpoint. Nice room size, cozy, clean, I loved the place and Skye is awesome !

I prefer personal checkin experience but I never met the owner/manager/staff. Even though, the self checkin worked like a charm. But just after the checkin, we realized (me and other guests) that the wi-fi was not working, so we had no Internet connection. We called the owner but she hasn´t showed up. Next day, same problem again. I had to rely on restaurants wifi to contact family. IMHO, wifi should be considered an important item and any malfunction treated with same priority as heater or electricity. Unfortunately, nobody came and I got no internet for 2 days/nights. Maybe it was a carrier fault, but the guesthouse must provide alternatives.

We requested a ground floor room and our request was met. The bed was so comfortable. The room which had a comfy lounge chair and desk with a seat was very welcoming. The bathroom, although compact was fully functional with a great shower and body products. Great communication, even checking if everything was to our satisfaction. Parking directly across the road was a bonus, and it was free. Breakfast was enjoyed both mornings at Relish !! Bakery was great as well for lunch.
