The Taigh Duitseach B&B in Portree is a perfectly charming and perfectly situated spot for exploring The Isle of Skye. Right at the edge of the center of town, but not in the “midst” of the busy-ness, it’s a pleasant and short 15 minute walk into the heart of the commercial district. There’s ample free parking right at the side / rear of the house and a VERT “Full Scottish” breakfast. The breakfast room is charming (next to a kitchen and its antique stove next to a modern one) and host Jim is rightly proud of the property which was built just before COVID hit. It has an old-fashioned style but with modern accoutrements: great shower and lovely sitting room. It was an ideal “two night” stop for our exploration of Skye’s otherworldly beauty. We had the property’s largest suite: 2 rooms, one with a double bed and private bath connected to a second room with a single bed, couch and sitting area: perfect for a couple with a young child, or even two. A coffee maker for instant pre-breakfast caffeine is provided with small cookies. Also, new disposable tooth brushes. A nice touch.
all good

This is such a cute and homey accomodation. I stayed here for 2 nights. Service - Paulline graciously waited for my check in time. I informed them in advance that my tour may reach Portree an hour past and they were okay with it. On the actual day, she responded quickly when I informed the approximate time closer to my arrival time. I appreciate their flexibility. Room - I was booked on the 1st floor on the parking side. The room is super clean and everything looks new. The room is spacious, especially the toilet and shower. Note that guests with 30kg suit cases may find this narrow. The bed is comfortable. Amenities and toiletries were useful. Location - It took me 15min one way to the city center and it was safe and easy to walk. It is on the main road so the tour guide I have can easily pick me up and drop me off here. The location is very quiet and I slept comfortably throughout the nights. Breakfast - There's only one hour slot for breakfast but this worked fine with me. The food choices are just right and cooked well. Note that this is not a large buffet breakfast so I recommend to take breakfast early in the time slot (in case some of the choices run out). Kitchen and dining area are also super clean and has a nice view outside. Paulline also let me take away some baked treats! Overall, I am pleased with my stay and would recommend!
No hot food allowed in the room but I understand this helps keep the room very clean. This limited alternative for food at night, so booking a dinner in a restaurant or eating outside with take away is a must. However, this is not a deal breaker.

Jim and Pauline are wonderful hosts, very helpful in providing information about Portree and the sights. The rooms are immaculate and provide everything you need. The breakfast is fantastic, Jim is cooking it in his beautiful kitchen right in front of you, they provide continental and gluten free options. The location is a short walk to the town square, so you are close to shops and restaurants, but far away from the bustle, I slept like a rock. Jim and Pauline exemplify Scottish hospitality and you could do no better for a base to start your adventure on Skye.

This guesthouse is a 10 minute walk from the centre of town which is just right because that’s where the restaurants are and the guesthouse only offers breakfast. Buffet breakfast was great with haggis, sausages baked beans…. as well as granola and yoghurt and plenty of fresh fruit. It’s privately run by a very friendly crew and was very comfy with underfloor hearing and a kettle and Tea/Nescafé in all rooms. They have their own parking 🅿️ for visitors. We were in the junior suite, which even had a walk-in cupboard for keeping belongings out of sight.

We stayed for two nights and just loved this BnB. We had the family room even tho only two of us and appreciated all the space after a long tiring trip. Everything was spotless and lots of thoughtful things were supplied right down to a spare toothbrush. The beds were really comfy and all the furnishings were lovely and tasteful. A super selection of things on the breakfast buffet plus freshly made toast and eggs to order all made it great value. Finally the location was great - away from the bustle of town yet 10 mins walk. Our room at the back was very quiet. Thoroughly recommend.
Just a suggestion when the weather is hot to supply a simple sheet and light blanket rather than the doona. Otherwise literally nothing lacking.

One of my favourite places to stay when travelling in Highlands. The room was very well equipped and lovely decorated. Modern, big bathroom with extra toiletries just adds to the comfort to the stay. Great views from the bedroom too! Fantastic breakfast with loads of choices . I will be back if coming back to the Isle of Skye as the island is just magical :)
I wish we had a small fridge in the room

We had the Junior Suite, it was absolutely spotless, I mean gleaming. Wonderfully warm, underfloor heating throughout, lovely big bed, bit firm for me but that's just personal preference. Breakfast was wonderful, set out like a buffet but full cooked breakfast as part of that so you help yourself. Fabulous black pudding and either haggis or white pudding. Shower was brilliant, loads of hot water and pressure was high. We were only there two nights but they came and cleaned and topped up the tea and coffee etc which we didn't expect. Would definitely recommend, it's only a few minutes to Portree centre and Jim is a lovely chap, seems to work himself half to death but always smiling.
Nothing really, I'd go back again

Breakfast was a great choice of continental and cooked. It was a 5-10 minute walk into the centre of Portree and the suite was lovely. Lots of parking and private entrance meant we didn't disturb anyone else
Towels were small. Breakfast being set up in the next room meant one of the bedrooms could hear the noise of setting up from 7am. Bathroom was off one bedroom so anyone staying in the other room needs to go through a bedroom to get to the bathroom.

The B&B at Taigh Duitsearch is exceptional. We had a small apartment with living room which was a great place to stay for our mid point of our trip. The hosts were brilliant, breakfast was awesome. Great in everyway and a very short walk into the village/town of Portree which was most welcome after a long drive.
Everything was great.

A very comfortable and clean room for 3, conveniently situated just a short (and thankfully rather flat) walk from the town centre. The breakfast was a great start to the day with a range of options served with fresh toast. Pauline and Jim were very friendly hosts and accomodated a late and shifty check-in time. Overall, a very pleasant and cozy stay.
