We chose the hotel by locality to the wedding venue. It was good value and we had a very large room with four poster. The bed was very comfortable. Some of our party returned early from the wedding and enjoyed the bar with good value drinks and play area for small children. We all had a build your own breakfast in the morning which was good value and well cooked. Again very handy with small children as there is a small play house with toys to keep them amused.
Luckily one of our party came early and found it difficult to find anyone to give us the keys to the room. However we were all able to get early access to the rooms enabling us to leave our bags before we went to the wedding.

The room (room 1) was absolutely huge, seriously massive...there was a 4 poster bed, I don't know the size classification but put it this way 3 pillows could easily fit side by side instead of 2 like on a normal bed and there was a sofa, large TV and another seating area ..like I said huge!! The room is dated and in need of some TLC but it was clean and tidy and amazing for price £63 via Booking.com couple of weeks in advance. People have to have reasonable expectations for the price, that size room in another hotel in Bristol would be £150+ if it was done up.
It didn't bother us because neither myself or my husband are light sleepers but feel I have to mention for those who are ...because it is above a pub you can hear the music but honestly it wasn't bad, would only upset extremely light sleepers in my opinion. Also it was a Saturday we stayed, probably quieter on weekdays.

We stayed in room 1; there was not a great view, but it was very spacious, with a huge four poster bed, a large tv and a 2-seater settee to sit on. The bathroom was also on the spacious side. Would have preferred a separate shower, as opposed to a shower over the bath, but the shower was very powerful. All in all, it was a great room, but could do with updating. Would stay here again if in the vicinity. Ideal accommodation, not too far from Longleat Safari Park.

The history to this place is palpable. Love staying here.
Will be putting a polite notice to housekeeping to please NOT knock on the door proclaiming "housekeeping!" at 9.30am when we dont chevk out until 11am. A small issue but it did happen on a previous visit but i didnt mention it. Please consider waiting until perhaps 30mins before checkout not an hour and a half before checkout is due. Other than that thoroughly enjoy staying.

Check in was easy and quick. Friendly staff . Good facilities in the bar with a play area for children. Room was clean and a decent size for a single room. Tea / coffee making facilities were all present with an adequate number of power points to charge a phone. Adequate free parking on site
Due to the hot weather I had to have the window open and the traffic noise did wake me earlier than planned.

Check in was quick & efficient, the room was clean & comfortable with drinks making facilities, the hot water came through quickly, the shower worked well & sufficient soap/towels were all supplied. Breakfast was tasty & did not take long to arrive after ordering.
Breakfast is only available Friday & Saturday these days instead of everyday as it used to be.

The hotel is centrally located with lots of freee parking. The staff were delightful and very friendly. The twin room was warm and comfortable with tea and coffee facilities. We had a super roast dinner on the Sunday and drinks in the bar on the Saturday night. Wifi was easy to connect.
Slight road noise, but due to it being a listed building, double glazing isnt possible at present.

The breakfast that is available on a Friday and Saturday morning was amazing. Friendly staff. It was nice to have the bar there but the rooms were on the upper floors and we couldn't hear anyone from the bar. Room was warm.
Water in the shower ran cold on our last day, I don't know why.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. We had a nice room with a good size bathroom which had a shower. The room was clean The bed was very comfortable. We liked our room.
There were few marks on the ceiling, it looked like they had a "leak" at some point. It was also bit noisy with traffic as our room was facing the main road but Other than that everything was fine. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.
