The Victoria Hotel on the Isle of Bute offers a prime location with its breathtaking marina and ocean views, especially from the lounge dining area where you can truly appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. Our room was on the 2nd floor; do note that the hotel does not have a lift, which wasn't a problem for us but might be worth considering for those with mobility issues.

As charming as it is, being an old wooden structure, the hotel has its quirks, such as the persistent squeak of the floorboards, which can be particularly noticeable at night. However, the hosts more than make up for any minor inconveniences with their warm hospitality and eagerness to please. While the exterior could benefit from a fresh coat of paint, the interior is well maintained, providing a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Overall, the Victoria Hotel provides a wonderful base to enjoy the stunning locale, and despite a few niggles, it's a place I'd recommend for its character and exceptional location.

We went to Bute to walk the West Island Way and this hotel is very convenient for that, being 2 minutes walk from the ferry terminal, the bus station (for buses to the start points of different sections of the walk) and a co-op (for food for packed lunches). Our bedroom was very comfortable and clean, with a large bathroom and excellent shower. We had a fantastic view over the bay (see attached photo) and could watch the ferries arriving, impressively lit up at night. Breakfast was fine, well cooked and presented. We also had dinner one night in the hotel; the food was good and reasonably priced and the menu had a wide range of options.

I would have liked more non-cooked options for breakfast e.g. fruit and yoghourt. As others have remarked, the hotel looks a little scruffy from the outside. Inside it is in very good shape, however.

Convenient location 2 minutes from the ferry. Also handy for the bus stop and a lovely view over the sea. The staff were welcoming and flexible - we requested an early check in as we were going to a wedding and they went above and beyond to have the room ready for us before we headed to the wedding. Lovely breakfast ready for when we requested it - very friendly and efficient!

The bathroom was a little outdated but clean and everything working.

Excellent location with good decor and very clean. Good sized room with good bed and bathroom offered a bath & shower complete with toiletries. Meals were excellent and served in a modern well decorated restaurant overlooking the seafront, staff were first class helpful and polite. The drawbacks are no parking although as the day progresses Street parking becomes available. Not suitable for less able-bodied folks as two flights of spiral staircase to reception, with most rooms further up the stairs. You will be glad of the room's abundance of tea or coffee. A multi channel TV is in the room. This is a Victorian building hence no lifts, however I did enjoy my break.

No lift, no parking.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly. Kathy especially was excellent. The hotel let me leave my luggage and Kathy looked up ferry and bus times for me. Superb customer service skills. The hotel felt very clean and looks like it has had a recent re-furb. Lovely. I felt very welcomed at the hotel and would stay again.

For the price I would have liked a view but I was there in High Season. I am a Vegan and the kitchen did provide plant based spread for my toast which was appreciated but I despair when even high end hotels use poor Veggie or Vegan sausages. My ONLY disappointment was my breakfast.

Location is fabulous, right on the sea front. Hotel rooms was clean and fresh with a few view over the sea as requested. First class breakfast was made to order and was very nice.

The bathroom was clean but it could have done with a curtain or blind, even thought the window class was frosted and you couldn't see out I noticed that if you where outside and there was someone in the toilet with the light on you can see the person very clearly

Location was great, rooms were great, but front not so good, it needs a coat of paint. I actually met a family who on seeing the front from the park, went else where,. Not realising how modern and clean the rooms actually were,.

Comfortable room with beautiful views over the Winter Gardens to the bay and north to Loch Striven. Excellent breakfasts and after having a really good dinner on the first night we opted to eat in the hotel each evening after that.
