January 2023

I had occasion to stay in Argyll hotel on 24th December and 31st December 2022. The building is architecturally pleasing. I was delighted on both occasions to find that the heaters were already on in the rooms, and the rooms lovely and warm. Everything was sparkling clean. The shower had very good water pressure. Staff were welcoming and friendly. I had dinner in the restaurant both times and the food was tasty. I ate breakfast there on one of the stays, and the full cooked breakfast was very good. This is a boutique style hotel, in a historic building. The price was very reasonable. Don't expect five-star levels of amenity - you'd pay several times as much for that. There is free WIFI for internet and it was rock solid (I had a little trouble connecting, but that is the fault of my new laptop, not the hotel's WiFi). I had a comfortable stay which met my needs perfectly, staff were nice, and I'd happily stay there again.

On my second overnight stay, Room 119 had only one hanger in the little wardrobe. This was not a serious inconvenience, however!

Location, facilities and staff friendliness. The staff went above and beyond for us. My fiancée took ill and was taken to hospital. The staff went out of their way to make my stay easier and more comfortable. Special mentions go to Ashleigh, John,Erin,Shannon, the breakfast staff, and anyone else who's names I didn't get. I can never thank you enough for your kind hospitality, but, thank you so so much. We will hopefully see you all soon

I was quite surprised by what had been the many mediocre reviews on this establishment, which I found quite charming in its own way. Yes, it is not a shiny modern hotel, but it was clean, the room was spacious, with everything that one needs for comfort and convenience and staff was courteous and attentive. I will stay here again.

Only thing was that my weekend had coincided with a Punk Festival, which was not quite my scene. Lol.

First of all, 10/10 to all members of staff. The housekeepers, reception and bartenders we're all very friendly and welcoming. Especially the man who checked us in. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival. The hotel could do with some updating, it's a very old but beautiful building and it would be a shame to let it deteriorate. But we were not to fussy about this as the views, location and general warmth of the place left us satisfied. Will be staying again for sure.

Plumbing in our bathroom could have been better

Location excellent, nice big room with sea view, position of TV on wall was surprisingly comfortable. Electric radiator allowed us to control heat in the room. Friendly staff.

One of the beds could do with a new mattress but still comfy even though it's a bit sunken in the middle. Shower hose needs changing and overall a bit more attention to cleanliness in the bathroom (around sink taps) would be good but not a problem that would prevent us from staying here again.

Breakfast /Room location (see view) Was attending Clan Lamont Gathering at weekend so location was very central Food at hotel good as well as the pleasant service staff well able to multi task-well done to all

Public area where community outdoor events were held could have done with a sweep i.e clean up as well used that weekend Presume area owned by Council but given proximity of hotel and customers surely a wee dialogue to arrive at a cleaning solution for all would assist

Breakfast was not included in the price but we did buy breakfast from the hotel and we were not disappointed with it continental and full English tea coffee toast . The staff were all brilliant made us feel so welcome

I honestly can’t think of anything I didn’t like I have stayed in the hotel before and that’s was the reason for going back and can’t wait for my next visit

Convenient and friendly. No fuss.

Breakfast was not included and was when I stayed in January. I paid the same price for my stay and the only difference was booking with Booking.com. next time I’ll book direct with the hotel

Lovely old hotel right in the centre. Minutes walk to shops, restaurants, pubs and ferry port. Hotel has two on site restaurants it's an old building full of charm. The rooms with a seaview are worth upgrading to. Large rooms with all the facilities needed.

No cooked breakfast facilities but plenty of places in town to get breakfast
