Breakfast was served in the breakfast room and it was lovely to be served. The building was very old and quirky but was well maintained and the rooms were large and decorated tastefully, There is a beautiful courtyard out the back overlooking the countryside where we had drinks before going inside to have some dinner. You can also sit out the front and watch the world go by. Car parking is out the back by the courtyard. Lizzy was a great hostess and was able to answer all my husbands questions about the hotel. My husband and I loved this hotel.
Drawback for some would be that there is no lift only stairs

This is a lovely pub hotel. Historic, quirky, well looked after. It feels beautifully maintained and fresh whilst being sympathetic to its age. Evening meal delicious. Not cheap, but when the plates arrived each entirely justified their pricing by being special. Pub fish and chips never normally this individual and delicious. Breakfast matched. Staff were exclusively friendly, chatty and helpful.
We parked bang outside. Didn’t realise parking available behind pub too. Probably preferable as it was a busy road to reverse into the next morning. But this should not be considered a “didn’t like”!

The staff at this hotel were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. We also enjoyed the delicious evening meal, We loved the convenient location close to us.
Just a suggestion not a dislike. We had a shared bathroom which was not an issue there was no sink until you go back to your room to wash hands Maybe a bottle of hand sanitiser in the shared bathroom. But this did not stop us from having a fantastic time.

Very convenient location in the heart of a pretty village. Comfortable room with tea/coffee tray, dressing gowns and tasteful decor. A very friendly and welcoming atmosphere, with an excellent choice of food available. Free car parking at the front and rear of the property.
Would have appreciated it if breakfast could have commenced a little earlier than 8.30am, though the staff were very accommodating and served my meal very quickly. I was also offered a take away breakfast had I wanted a really early start to the day.

Goudhurst is a very pretty Wealden village on a hill dating mainly from the fifteenth century with buildings typical of the place and time, varying from brick,,tile-hung and weatherboard. The hotel is adjacent to the church and has far-reaching views over the surrounding countryside. It is well-placed to visit the many National Trust and other properties nearby, the most famous being Sissinghurst Castle and gardens created by the late Vita Sackville West and Harold Nicholson. The coast is about 25 miles away with the seaside town of Hastings being an attraction and the ancient town of Rye being well worth a visit. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the restaurant serves a good menu.

The journey to our room was intriguing although it did carry a risk of banging one’s head on low beams. To say the place is full of character and history is an understatement. On possibly the warmest night of the year, I was slightly nervous of opening the only window given its antiquity but it was fine. Some traffic noise as a result but less than I expected given the sharp bend right outside. Food was excellent even though we arrived late, as was the beer. Parking was easy. Bed was comfortable.
Breakfast was very good but I’m sorry to say that the coffee was borderline undrinkable. The hot water for the shower took forever to come through but it did eventually so that was fine. The wardrobe was a novel place to hide the kettle!

A really super olde worlde pub/hostelry with lots of beams and charm. Breakfast was great, as were the staff
The parking is quite tricky. The pub is on a very busy main road with a few difficult to manoeuvre spaces at the front. Even the car park at the rear is a challenge to get to via very narrow lanes - but don't let this put you off going.

Restaurant was better than I had expected. Breakfast was good, staff were very friendly and helpful. Pub and restaurant were pleasantly decorated.
Room maintenance could have been better. Some light bulbs were burned out, toilet took half an hour to refill. Windows painted shut. No power plugs near the bed; this is a problem because my wife uses a CPAP machine. Traffic on the bend outside the pub was a constant problem.

This is not my first stay at this hotel. I love the way the ancient structure has been preserved and is still in comfortable good use. We were very well looked after by all the staff that we met, and who served our excellent breakfast.
The heavy traffic passing through Goudhurst in the morning is far too much for the village to handle. A by-pass is urgently needed.

We loved the historical aspects of the property, the staff and service was superb. Great breakfast supplied and we used the restaurant for lunch and dinner. Loved the location close to many interesting places.
The room was really hot, not surprising in the heat wave, however, there was no fan in the room. It was a minor thing as we were able to keep our windows open all night.
