Beautifully situated, very well kept. Also very peaceful. The food was very good as well, especially the home made marmalade! I particularly appreciated the flexibility of the owner in letting me take a business call at 10am every day to keep in touch, even though I was on holiday (I did check with her in advance that it would be OK and she really did go out of her way to accommodate me - but not everyone would have done.) Well situated for all the Clwyd area, which is an undiscovered gem - it's literally in the heart of Clocaenog Forest and close to Llyn Brenig, Ruthin, Bala, Llangollen, Chester, Rhyl...

If I had to nitpick, the roads to it off the main road from Ruthin to Cerrigydruidion are extremely narrow. Don't drive along them fast! But when you get there it's so worth it.

Everything about our stay at The Old Rectory was brilliant. Our room was perfect, clean, tidy, everything we needed for an overnight stay, celebrating my partners birthday. The old house in general was beautiful, as were the grounds and gardens, I was very impressed. An unforeseen added bonus was the stream rushing by the property, very relaxing to hear the water. Our hostess, Catherine was lovely, very friendly and helpful. Cooked a lovely breakfast for us both on Sunday morning. Thank you for our stay. Graham & Clare.

There wasn't anything we didn't like about our stay. If there was one thing to say, it would be that the cold water tap in bathroom was loose when you turned it, just needs tightening.

A lovely location for a break. It was so peaceful. We didn't hear a sound after dark. We parked at the house, and were made to feel welcome. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. There was plenty of choice, and contained good quality ingredients. Meals for lunch and evening are all within a few minutes drive. We used the community pub about 5 minutes away, although it doesn't serve food several nights a week. It would certainly be a B&B that we would return to.

Nothing....

Catherine, the owner was so welcoming and even got her daughter to set up my new speaker on my phone when I was having difficulties. The room I stayed in was warm and comfortable, perfect for a peaceful night's sleep. There was a lounge for guest use with a log burning fire where I could sit and read. The breakfast was delicious.

There was nothing I didn't like.

Lovely room - very clean and bright. Breakfast was lovely and I liked that there were a lot of local products used in the making. Good location and easy parking. The garden was lovely to wander around!

I would have liked conditioner available to use in the shower, but completely understand why it wasn't! The shampoo/bath soap combination was fine to use and conditioner is just something I would have liked but definitely did not need for such a short stay!

Lovely quiet country location. Our host, Catherine was very friendly and provided lots of maps and guides for our walking. Lovely comfortable room and beds. Great breakfast.

A bit more light in the bathroom would be good.

Catherine was a great host. Helpful and informative without being intrusive. The accomodation was clean and comfortable and in a lovely setting. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately due to the weather we didn't get to fully appreciate the locality but clearly this wasn't a fault of the accomodation!
