Staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. Excellent breakfast available - cooked or continental. Good choice of meals on the evening menu, our meals were very good and excellent value for money. Good parking also at the hotel. Position of hotel is a short walk to the main centre of Ryde and the Ryde Pier. A very good hotel with convenient access to the main routes of the island and good views towards Portsmouth and Southsea across the Solent.

It's Christmas! - one or two noisy parties of guests in the public areas during the evenings, but this quietened down by 11pm when the bar shut.

Very nice property that is close to the fast cat ferry service. The room was very comfortable and the bath was very accessible. Despite not having 24 hour desk service, the staff were readily available and the site was easy to enter after hours with your key. I slept very well and feel the bed was comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Dining was easy and the food was good. Nothing "Michelin", but flavourful and filling, with the typical selection for Pub food. Breakfast was very good with the offer of fruit, cereal, yogurt and breads in addition to your hot breakfast. There is a lift so access isn't too much of an issue, although not sure if specific entrances for those with mobility issues to enter the site.

Despite a very nice place, it is a Pub first and foremost. The evenings can be a bit loud and I unfortunately had an intoxicated patron bang repeatedly on my door after 11pm one night. The acoustics are a bit to be desired, at least in my room as I could hear the neighbours like they were in my room, sadly. But, still a VERY nice stay!

I stayed on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day night to visit family who live nearby. Ryde Castle was very festive as were the staff. Plenty of breakfast options including cooked food on Christmas Day which was appreciated.

The hotel was far too warm. No bath mat available in the bathroom; you had to ask at reception. The bar was shut at 1600 hrs on Christmas Day which was publicised in room information. Great that staff were able to spend time with their families but not so good for those staying who may have wanted a drink. The bar has been open later in previous years after offering Christmas lunches to non-residents.

The staff were amazing. So friendly and hard working. Breakfast very tasty, well cooked and great value for money. Cleaners observed doing a fantastic job, moved furniture to clean etc

Appeared very understaffed. Staff on shift were doing every job which meant long waits at times for fixing plumbing problem and service at breakfast. Food wasn’t available after 7pm so I struggled to find anywhere to eat as the town shuts down early on a Sunday and after an 8 hour journey to get here this was problematic. Fortunately found a chip shop open which not ideal but at least I got fed.

Staff are very friendly and helpful, pleasant and peaceful room. Very good room cleaning- no grime hidden in the corner, or dirt on top of skirting boards, for example.

Had only one evening meal in the hotel. They didn't have any steak left, so opted for the award winning pie. It was badly overcooked, as were the veg. I was given a full refund, further evidence of the good service from nice staff, but next morning's breakfast bangers and bacon were also badly overcooked. Breakfast the next three mornings were, however, excellent, especially the eggs supreme!

Everything was seamless - our room was a little on the small side and very hot and the windows are resticted for safety, no AC but there was a fan provided

Breakfast service on our last day was very poor - up unti then it had been wonderful on this day (we needed to be at the ferry pretty smartish) the staff it seems were busy having staff briefings and did not come to take our order for ten minutes whilst they chatted and when it arrived if was not as ordered. Told I could not check out until after breakfast??? and asked three times for my room number to check we had paid for breakfast. BUT this was an isolated day the rest of the week was brilliant

Staff and food served us well and we enjoyed our stay considering this was a busy bank holiday weekend with a steam railway fair and scooter festivals

Bedroom was large and good, had a wardrobe but lacked any drawers, the bathroom was excelent but lacked any shelves, both these made the it feel unfinished as there was plenty of room for it all and we were partly living from our suit cases. Being only two of us on a short stay this was not a problem but this was a family room and had we been a family we would have found it unacceptable.

We had a very comfortable room with sea view. We would repeat readily. Staff very pleasant and helpful on arrival and departure particularly.

The food menus were in the room as promised, but the procedure and timing for meals could have been clearer. The highlighting of certain dishes on the menu reduced the contrast too much for comfort. The breakfast details on 3 options was guesswork.

The room was charming, wth a very comfortable King bed; two side tables with lamps; a small table with 2 lounge style chairs, a writing desk with its own lamp; tea/coffee facilities and the heated rails in the modern bathroom maintaining a comfortable temperature. The old casement windows have a wide ledge, perfect for sitting and taking in the view - in my case the Esplanade and water views - gorgeous and relaxing. The Breakfast room follows the period theme with a buffet set up with cereals, pastries etc along with tea/coffee, there is also a varied full breakfast menu. The staff were fabulous, attentive, helpful, respectful and friendly, dinner was in the bar/dining room there was a great menu choice and a nice atmosphere.

I couldn’t find anything to dislike at all after spending 4 days here.

Amazing hotel. Exceptional staff. Room was lovely, had a great sea view. Huge bathroom with masses of hot water and decent sized towels. Very clean in all areas of the hotel. Ate in the pub two nights. Great selection, beautifully cooked and prepared and served quickly. Breakfast was plentiful, again beautifully cooked, hot and served quickly. Cannot fault the staff and cleanliness of this hotel. Thank you to all staff for another lovely stay.

Some areas need a quick lick of paint but must be difficult when the hotel and pub is as popular as it is.
