Really nice pub close to the village great parking ! I had a really nice stay nice to be able to find somewhere down to earth nice couple running this pub / hotel rooms are nice and clean spacious and the beds are comfy slept really well nice powerful warm shower too !! I would definitely return there is so much I could say as we enjoyed our food can tell owners are putting effort in with what spare time they have as new paint was being put on the bar and doors lovely the best thing is the rooms are not a rip of and are great value for money I know the cost of living is expensive and running a business is by no means cheap or easy but it’s nice not to be paying over the odds for a hotel room and was great keep up the great work was a awesome find !! Great dog friendly place to stay

Just a recommendation ! Perhaps give the car park a tidy up and around the back stair case and put the WiFi codes in the rooms but this is constructive criticism and nothing that effected my stay do not be put of staying here it’s a lovely quite place to stay with friendly staff and close by amenities and beach awesome thank you !!

It was easy to find and access, the staff were absolutely lovely, when we came downstairs for some food, we spent ages chatting with them & putting the world to rights. The food was delicious, locals were friendly and the room was so comfortable!

The room was really warm and we couldn’t open the window BUT that was a minor issue. Getting the right hot/cold balance in the shower takes a little fine tuning as the hot is VERY hot. But again, just a little tweaking and it was no issue :)

The staff at the red admiral are incredible and cannot help you enough, the gentleman that greeted us when we arrived was there almost everyday of our 5 day stay and he was incredible, he couldn’t do enough for us was so friendly and chatty so helpful nothing we asked for was too much, also food here was incredible steak was cooked perfectly to how I asked everything was so fresh, pub in site of hotel was great plenty drinks options great atmosphere, so comfortable too. We were made to feel so welcome we will 1000% be visiting again in the near future. It’s also a great location not even a 2 minute drive to local village with shops that have everything you need and around 7 minutes from the nearest beach which was beautiful and had the most amazing ice cream shop which was also pointed out to us by the incredible gentleman from the hotel. Honestly can’t say a bad word about it the views all around are amazing, nice outdoor pub area with a little woods out back to walk to pooch and I cannot thank the man who was there during our stay honestly made our holiday so much so sweet and friendly absolutely loved our very needy dog! Lol you were incredible and for whoever gets to come across him during your stay you are lucky! Thank you so much!

Location was fab, we'd booked in for a rest after Scafell/Wastwater trekking. Arrived a little early because we got done walking a bit earlier than expected. Still greeted with a warm welcome, where we were sat in the pub with a drink whilst the room was finalised. Hosting was certainly best I've experienced in a guest house setting. Even got a pencil for a crossword puzzle! Popped to Seascale (no distance really) for some tea and a walk in the evening. Bed was ridiculously comfortable and slept heavier than I have in weeks. The upstairs has been done up so well, fabulous place and fabulous value for money really.

So little to complain about it seems petty. There was a bit of trouble regarding the windows staying open. No remote for the tv which was a minor inconvenience really. Light under door maybe do with a draught excluder or something but just used a rolled up jumper. Bigger mugs for drinks maybe but the thing I have a brew out of normally is like a trough so personal preference I guess.

The food was excellent and very happy with the drink too. There were road closures affecting the business, and we were able to buy drinks to take to our rooms if wanted before the bar closed at 10pm

We didnt get used to the noise of a fan, and the bed was so hot despite having the window wide open and the temperature outside being cool. We could have slept better.

Lovely room with an en suite (which was a pleasant surprise as we were just expecting a shared bathroom), also views of the fells from the bedroom! Great location for accessing Wasdale and the sea, and not too far to the rest of the lakes. The village of Gosforth is about 2 mins down the road and had nice pubs and cafes. Nice pub food as well, and very friendly and helpful staff :) overall low hassle and a great place to stay!

Very minor but the toilet required a few attempts to flush successfully

Met Richard on arrival, he was friendly and welcoming, the room was brilliant, we ate in the evening in the restaurant. We both had steaks, which Richard cooked to perfection. He has great knowledge of the local produce and how to implement his skills in the kitchen. We had our jack Russell with us, he was made very welcome and had sausage at meal time. Richard is a dog lover big time and made Milo feel very comfy. He also has an amazing world of knowledge of the local area. The pub/restaurant is a beautiful warm and welcoming 18th century building, with rich fabrics, furnishings and open fires. A place that you wouldn't object to being snowed in if there was a storm. Great menu and selection of beers. Well worth the money, facilities were great, even a fridge and toaster. Very clean. Very light and comfortable. It was a pleasure to stay there and we will be back.

Talking to the owner, the property is a work in progress we’re very excited to visit in the future when it is all refurbished! Although it’s being refurbished the only noise we heard was from passing cars and cows outside. We booked for one night, stayed for two and are planning to return in a few weeks. The staff are amazing, so friendly and accommodating, the location is relaxing and their is a little village with other pubs and a very convenient Sainsbury’s. Great value for money.

All good!

The room was very cosy and clean. I brought my dog with me and there was lots of outdoor space with grass and tables for us to hang out in. The staff were very friendly.

If you are travelling to visit the Lake District it is quite far from the main areas and being located next to a main road it can be a bit noisy.

We were pleasantly surprised to find a room in this hotel at a very good price during the high season. The room has no toilet but it wasn't an issue, the toilet on the floor was always available and clean. There is a small sink in the room which is handy. The bed is a bit narrow but comfortable. The location was ideal for us as we came specifically to visit Wast Water lake and take a steam train ride on the railway from Ravenglass, so we found it perfect. As to breakfast, we found that the nearby village doesn't have many breakfast options but the local shop sells good English breakfast take-aways.

Our room was a bit stuffy but you can't open the window as the road is right under the window and even though there are not a lot of cars, each passing car can wake you up if you are a light sleeper. I suggest using ear plugs if you room faces the road.
