The room was lovely, equipped with everything I needed, and a view over the town square. It was one of the best beds I’ve slept in - was so comfortable. There was ample choice at breakfast, and food was well-cooked. It sets you up for the day! Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. When I mentioned that I had left my phone charger behind in the previous hotel in Edinburgh, they found me one to borrow for the duration of my stay at the County. The location is great. In the middle of Selkirk, you are spoilt for choice of coffee shops, the pub, a cocktail bar, an Indian restaurant, a Chinese restaurant and a Fish and Chip and Pizza takeaway. There is a museum and Scott’s Courthouse a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. There is a regular bus service just opposite The County to the larger town of Galashiels - if you want to venture further, you can get a train from Galashiels and take a day trip to Edinburgh, enjoying the lovely Borders countryside as you do.

There was nothing I didn’t like about staying here!

Oliver, who was on reception when I arrived and served me breakfast was friendly and obliging and created a very relaxed atmosphere. The breakfasts were well cooked and presented. Absolutely nothing to complain about!

The County doesn't do evening meals and there is apparently a dearth of places to eat in the evening in Selkirk. They compensate for this by providing facilities in a lounge area for guests to bring in food from the various takeaways nearby and there is actually one very good little restaurant right next door! The food there was very good and not expensive for the quality. I had 2 courses and a large glass of wine for £30 including a tip.

The double room was fresh and clean upon arrival. With unseasonably hot weather, we were glad that fans were available for each room upon request. The rooms were cozy and nicely decorated. The staff were courteous and the breakfast was very good. The private, off-street parking was accessible and spacious. There are a variety of restaurants in Selkirk from which to choose, as well as numerous attractions within easy driving distance.

The single room had a bad smell upon arrival and needed the carpets vacuumed. The sink in the single (202) was loose on the wall and the toilet seat in the double (201) was loose, all easy fixes. There were several cobwebs in the corners of the ceilings. We ushered a small spider outside.

Twin beds were the most comfortable we have had for many a year! (Friend agreed!) Room 23, FYI... Excellent facilities! We were SO happy to be there in Selkirk on the Main High Street with parking behind! Easy access to restaurants, and we recommend the Chinese! Breakfast with Oliver was a delicious one! We hope to return sometime! Emily

A very minor suggestion- some fruit for breakfast would have been good for us. Apart from this, nothing at all!

Nice bar, great value rooms, big room, great shower and bathroom, self check in was so quick (no door keys, just codes), great location, good parking, nice staff, quiet, good atmosphere.

Still in process of getting done up, so expect to see some areas still needing painted/looked at. Doesn't take away from the experience though!

Fabulous stay. We stayed here for 2 nights whilst we visited family in the area. We arrived early on the first day so I contacted the property and they allowed us to check in early. The owner was so friendly and accommodating and we had a lovely relaxing stay. This is actually the 2nd time we’ve stayed here and wouldn’t book anywhere else now:)

Friendly and helpful staff. My granddaughter came with me to settle into my room, and we had a 14 montb old with us. We were able to use the breakfast room to feed the baby. Very pleased with this as they weren't staying. Had a view of the market place ftom my room.

I had a single room and found bed too soft. This made turning over difficult, but this may be due to my medical condition.

Great central location in Selkirk very handy for exploring the Borders and ten minutes away from Tweedbank Station so handy for train. Also a very good Thai restaurant had its opening night in Selkirk can recommend.

The new system for self check-in did not work initially. We did not check in late and would have preferred to have met the receptionist, who was on duty, without having to wrestle with the faulty system first. The personal touch is usually better.
