perfect venue. staff were fantastic and so friendly. we had a meal after arriving and the food was amazing, with huge portions. Rooms were spacious and had all the facilities we needed. Bed was very comfy. Breakfast was fantastic serving both hot and cold food with a good selection. It was lovely to have a night cap before retiring for the night and the barman was so knowledgable and friendly. Check in and out was easy. We will definately be returning

Superb location on the edge of Hawick. Bustling restaurant frequented by guests and locals, imaginative menu, and friendly happy staff. This is certainly somewhere to which we will return. The Borders region has so much to offer fantastic scenery and lots of Abbeys and Castles.

Breakfast was lovely, served by friendly staff. The menu was varied, we had dinner on all 3 nights and the food was great.

Lovely hotel. Our spotlessly clean room was really spacious with loads of natural light. We had both breakfast and dinner in the hotel, which were excellent. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming and they were great with our dog too. The grounds are really well kept, there is a trail walk which was ideal for a short 15 minute walk with the dog before breakfast. It's very hilly at that part though so if you have mobility problems you can use the grassy area to the front of the hotel instead which is accessed easily.

From the moment we arrived the staff were delightful. Our double aspect room was beautiful and our dog was treated as another guest. We had a lovely meal in the bar area. We are in the borders for business regularly and we will definitely be returning to this lovely hotel.

The hotel is classic and has extensive grounds. The rooms are well proportioned and we had a seating area; adjacent room across hall which we also booked was smaller however bed was huge and had a walk in shower. Our room had a bath which is always a plus. The dining facilities were lovely surroundings with a dining room, bar, library area and outside terrace area. Staff were attentive and service was reasonable.

The rooms were in the basement so light was restricted however we didn’t spend much time in them. There was also pets in the other rooms. There was no problem just something to consider if you are allergic to pets.

friendliness and helpfulness of the staff from the moment we arrived traditional decor, so different and welcome to the corporate hotels comfortable beds and pillows. plenty of coffee/tea and biscuits! clean bathroom lovely well tended grounds although we didn’t get to explore them generally a relaxed and caring atmosphere, well worth the money. interesting and plentiful choice of evening meal and breakfast

a lift would have been nice as I struggled with the stairs. I can understand why there wasn’t one but perhaps it should be mentioned in the Hotel brochure?

Room was very good and the staff greeting on arrival was very welcoming. They offered to help with bags and we were shown to our room and the shutters explained. Breakfast and facilities were very good with a real coffee machine in the room as well as standard instant coffee and tea facilities. Large TV and good internet connection Views from the room were excellent. Staff in the morning as with night greeting were very friendly and the breakfast facility and room were really nice. Breakfast was really good with large selection of choices, including cooked and continental, included in the room rate. Traditional features of the building preserved and well decorated in traditional styles. Loved it. For the room size, views and facilities offered and a competitive price it was excellent value for money.

Heating in the room was adequate for me however my partner claimed that she thought was slightly cool, even with the radiator up full. Admittedly we had a fantastic view and five full height windows in our room plus my better half, likes the rooms we stay in hot +23, which for me is bordering on uncomfortable. I must add it was only 2 degrees Celsius outside which will have had bearing on the inside temperature. The view in the morning from the room however was superb and to me was worth the slightly cooler room given there were no curtains, just wooden shutters (traditional as with the décor of the hotel), and traditional Sliding sash windows the heating was fine. Bathroom was slightly tired but more then sufficient and clean.

Absolutely everything about the hotel was beyond expectation. We both questioned the status of the room (we booked ‘budget’), but this was better than quite a few 5 star hotels we have stayed in. We visit Hawick so we can eat at an excellent restaurant in town. We have vowed next to stay 2 nights to experience an in hotel meal as well. I am not used to being ‘wowed’.
