Nice enough place, staff friendly. Comfy bed and room was big enough with decent sized bathroom and shower, which was hot and good water pressure. Toiletries provided as well as a hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Room was serviced daily. Biscuits were given when checking in, nice touch. Ample parking and right on the canal, short walk to town and across from a supermarket. Waiting staff was efficient and friendly.

Our room was at the front, next to a pelican crossing and was noisy early morning with traffic and the crossing. Its right opposite the fire station and train station, didn't have any issues with this only that it was a busy spot. Food was OK, breakfast could have been better. I had scrambled eggs, served not on my toast but were very wet and made my toast soggy where it was sitting in liquid, part of which was inedible. The evening meal, according to my husband, who is an ex Chef, was cook in the bag , we would have thought it was all freshly prepared and cooked in house. The reception has been moved to the bar, possibly due to staffing. Our overall opinion was that the hotel may be "struggling a bit".

Character and proximity to the centre of Skipton

Sadly the dinner on our first night was not good. The meat was either poor quality or badly cooked. I was not the only one to return my meal. Replacement meal wasn’t much better . Still paid full price for it 😒 Went out to eat the following two nights .

room was ok but smaller than anticipated did not have breakfast due to be unwell nice warm room. patio doors need attension. comfy double bed extra pillows.

the bathroom in the room we paid for was ok but the shower was tight to get into and out off if your a person on the larger size. also no instructions on how to work this type of shower it was constantly hot. the sink is not the correct type for a hotel bathroom as water went down back and sides. toilet need needs fixing and flush is very poor

My first room was in the old building and facing the main road. It was very disappointing, run down, cold and no hot water. When I mentioned it to the lady in reception she couldn’t have been any kinder and moved me to another room in the new block straight away. The new room was lovely and what I had expected, bed was huge and very comfy, room was lovely and quiet, the shower was decent and hot. The breakfast in the morning was excellent. Loads of onsite parking available.

The first room they gave me was old and depressing. It needed updating, cleaning and hot water needs to be fixed.

Great Breakfast, roomy hot shower. Nice single room.Manager kindly helped me out with a mistake I made with my booking. The train station was right across the road as was a large supermarket. Ten minute walk to town center.

I kept smelling the faint odor of urine from my bed and finally confirmed on close inspection it was indeed the mattress. I mentioned it to a houskeeper in the morning and the problem had been taken care of when I returned in the evening. The room was in the front overlooking a busy road but I did not need to open the window and the blinds and very heavy drapes were quite effective at blocking out the noise.. If the weather had been warm and the window had to be open it would have not have been pleasant. The stairs were a bit of a hardship for me.

The location, in sight of the train station, only a 10 to 15 minute walk from the town-centre and very close to a large Morrisons was excellent. The breakfast was varied, although did not include the option of porridge. The en suite bathroom was nice, especially the easily controlled hot shower with more than adequate water-pressure.

The room was a little too warm for my liking even with the radiator turned off. The windows could be easily opened though. Leaving them open all day did reduce the temperature to comfortable levels for sleeping. One quite serious annoyance was a clicking noise made by some invisible heating pipes somewhere close to the room. In spite of both the room radiator and corridor radiators being turned off this clicking, which was certainly audible, occurred for say two minute intervals, periodically, all through the night.

As we travelled by train, we found the location excellent, literally across from the train station and only a 5-20 minutes walk to the town centre. Every aspect of the hotel went above our expectations and we will be definitely stopping again. Can't wait to book again.

Hotel room on the day could have been more competatily priced but as we booked last minute we knew we could not wait around. Price of drinks were a tad more pricey than the norm but again not a real issue for us personally as we treated it as a holiday. Would have to be very picky to get at anything we didn't like overall.

The room was small but cosy, the view was lovely but as it was so close to the road and the only ventilation was through the window which was a bit noisy but it wasn't a big issue. I didn't have a hot breakfast but the continental breakfast was good and the waitress who served us was nice. The location of the hotel was perfect, my friend and I were doing a motorbike tour and within minutes of leaving the hotel we were in beautiful roads. The hotel is located in a good location in relation to the town

Bit noisy as I had to have the window open for ventilation. I found as I had to have the curtains closed the room got a bit hot but these were really nit-picky issues

Herriots is a lovely hotel with a family run atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the bar area and restaurant very nice, clean and had a lovely ambience. We had a room in the older part of the house; the hotel is an big old house with an additional newer area built on behind. The room was very large with beautiful old fashioned furniture in keeping with the hotel and a four poster bed. The bathroom had a deep modern tub with shower above and look very smart and luxurious. We didn't eat dinner there, but breakfast was really good, with a nice selection of cereals, jams, and croissants in the help yourself continental area and the cooked breakfast was amazing with great quality food and well presented.

Unfortunately we found the mattress to be very hard for us, but we do like a soft bed. The shower took quite some time to get the water hot and they have a step mid way across the bathroom which you have to remember is there. The only other thing which would be very useful to have, would be instructions for the coffee maker - a lovely touch to have in your room, but frustrating if its different to the one you are used to.
