I booked the room at short notice for two guests who had to change travel plans due to the impending Train strike. The triple room was well laid out and the bathroom spotless. They both reported a comfortable nights sleep, the bar staff were friendly and welcoming both at check in and check out. The bar/restaurant area were clean, as was the outside seating area. A big thank you to the Royal Oak for looking after my two guests for the evening.

Choice of beer for myself but the two staying enjoyed the bar offerings.

it was stunning to look at from approach, very homely inside. all the rooms were very clean and had tea and coffee facilities, they’re attention to detail in the rooms made you feel you were in a home from home. everything was very clean and tidy and you could tell the staff cared about keeping up those standards.

We returned to the Royal Oak at midnight after a party and were stuck out in the rain by the locked guest entrance. Luckily there was an “out of hours” number to call and a helpful woman answered. She gave us details about how to work the combination lock but it wouldn’t work. She drove over to let us in only to discover the newly installed lock had malfunctioned - but she was lovely and cheerful despite the rain and late time. Breakfast the next morning was excellent. A good place for a short stay.

The malfunctioning lock (!!) and lack of outdoor lighting around the side of the building where the guest entrance is. It was very dark and we had to use phone torches. They should have proper lighting there.

My sisters and I have stayed at a number of hotels over the years and we have tended to come away disappointed about something and for birthday celebrations you always want to come away feeling good and that is definitely what we got with The Royal Oak, really welcome reception on arrival, good selection of beer, superb location, beautiful countryside, good parking, really easy to locate, great food; both breakfast and evening meal, the room, fantastic, very cosy, comfy and warm and both my sisters can complain if it's too hot or too cold but everyone came away happy. Thank you Emma and the team for a thoroughly enjoyable stay, we will be back.

I don't think there was anything I didn't like particularly, the shower could have maybe been more powerful but then I have just been spoilt at home. :-)

The welcome was warm and the check in efficient. The room was warm and with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was immaculate and had a bath and very good shower. The bar was very comfortable and the barman kept us well watered in the evening. Breakfast was nicely cooked, tasty and was presented with a smile. The lady kept on top of things with re supplying food and drinks. The checkout was easy and a nice big thank you from the lady for choosing her hotel for accommodation. Lovely stay, thanks

Nothing to dislike. The hotel is in a fairly remote village, but that was our choice to stay there and would happily do so again.

Even though my time at The Royal Oak was short, from the moment I stepped through the front door I felt welcomed. The food was delicious, the accommodation was spotless, and the staff tied everything together. In the morning I decided to have breakfast. Which was a delicious, toasted muffin with poached eggs that were cooked perfectly, topped with hollandaise sauce. Just what I needed before my long drive home. I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay as I was passing through; I would like to thank all the staff at The Royal Oak for an unforgettable stay. I will be back!

The Royal Oak is in an excellent location on the edge of the picturesque village of Duddington. The room was a good size with a decent size bathroom too. Breakfast was exceptional but the biggest plus for the Royal Oak is without doubt the staff. All members of staff we met were so friendly and helpful . We really enjoyed our stay and will be going back again.

We did get some road noise on the first night we stayed. The second night did not seem as bad.

The breakfast menu was available adhoc in the morning and was available until 12 noon. It was very tasty and not tooooo expensive, if not a bit limited. That said, the kitchen did an amazing off-menu fruit medley for my wife. The bar/restaurant area is very pleasant, and the room was well equipped and comfortable.

Breakfast was not included in the price of the room, which at £95 it perhaps should be.

Comfy room. Great bar and restaurant with home cooked, fresh tasty food. All this in the lovely village of Duddington with walks by river. Easy access to Stamford etc. Main road bypass zips by, but Village is free of all that.

They’re in the process of sorting the access to the accommodation, so this part was a bit messy and in need of finishing off. But the rooms were clean and comfy.
