Brilliant. No written menu because they offered a completely flexible request system at the table by a member of staff. Food was hot, well cooked and very tasty. Delicious flat white coffee, nice big cups and saucers for hot drinks. Well done. Liked the very friendly and competent staff. Liked the lively pub atmosphere in the bar, lots of locals as well as visitors which is always a good sign of a well run bar. Lovely newish fluffy towels in room.

Very old windows shabby. The bar room windows were so painted over that they couldn’t be opened behind us when it was hot and airless. Fire doors are an absolute nightmare (room 6) but obviously a necessity and not the hotel’s fault. Stairs from ground floor have short treads and so a bit tricky if in high heels (or a slightly infirm pensioner!)!

Everything was amazing from the staff that went above and beyond to meet needs and accommodations. Breakfast was included in the price which was a big plus. Very delicious and well made. The location is perfect as well, close to everything. Laura was over the top amazing. I rented a car and didn’t know my way around with the road signs or driving on the opposite side of the road. She was kind enough to let me look over at her daughter’s driving manual which helped alot. She went above and beyond

Loved the location - very central. The accommodation was very comfortable and clean and even though we had been advised of live music, the sound proofing was very good and once in our room couldn't hear a thing and slept soundly. The Manager and staff we met were all very friendly and made us and our German Shepherd very welcome.

The only small downside is that we couldn't park in the carpark as it was full but we did find somewhere close by - it just meant a few trips with our luggage.

A warm welcome from staff, comfortable beds in a quiet room and a fantastic breakfast the following morning!

Potential guests should be aware that access to the rooms is via relatively steep stairs. The floors are uneven and there are lots of low beams and doorframes. We had initially reserved for my parents and it is just as well they were unable to come because I'm not sure that they would have been able to get up the stairs anyway!

1-the smell of the bar downstairs (beer and old smoke in the wood) 2-the last day they forgot about my request (to prepare me some patries for to go… as I left at 7:30… althow it was time to open the kitchen)

The location was great, being very central, was very convenient and not as noisy as I'd feared. The building was full of character, low beams and steep stairs. The breakfast was nice, cereal choice was limited and my yogurt with fruit never arrived but the bacon and sausage were nice and my toast arrived hot after my cooked breakfast as requested.

Could have done with a better mirror in the room instead of the big tv.

Fantastic service.Friendly welcome. Room very clean and comfortable. Good facilities with kettle and nespresso machine. Good sound proofing on windows did even know the church bells were ringing on Sunday morning until we opened the windows. Good food in the pub for both dinner and breakfast. A great location to wander round Uppingham and the drive to explore Oakham and Rutland Water. Having free on street parking outside was a bonus.

The room was slightly on the small side but perfectly adequate for 1 night.

Great pub with really delicious food, staff were all friendly and helpful. Our room was cozy, comfortable and clean. Bed was very comfortable, good shower. Nice coffee machine with coffee pods. Full English Breakfast was amazing! Great location to visit Stamford and Rutland. Thank you for a really nice stay.

Wish we could have stayed longer!

The staff were all so lovely, a really friendly pub with a great atmosphere and my dog loved it. Really comfy bed and superb breakfast. We were up on the 2nd floor but managed ok, even with my dodgy old knee's.

Echoing previous reviews, a mirror would have been really useful. We were quite cold and the heating barely came on.

From the second we stepped into the Crown, we knew we'd love it! The staff were so sweet, greeted us as we walked in and even complimented our outfits (we were going to a wedding!) - overall they made us feel really welcome and at home. The location in Uppingham is great and the breakfast is pretty substantial, would absolutely stay again,
