In a beautiful quiet village the Howard Arms is a gem. The building is very attractive, facing the green and has a lovely garden behind. The room was spacious and well appointed. It had everything including a fridge with complementary water, tea coffee, biscuits and toiletries in the bathroom. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The meals were all scrumptious, excellent ingredients and big portions. The location made it a central oasis for visiting local places (Bourton on the Water was too touristy for me, but Little Slaughter was a delight, Moreton in the Marsh had a market on while I visited). In the past I've visited Chipping Campden, Hidcote and Stratford upon Avon too, all well worth a visit.

The bedroom was very hot. The hotel did what they could by keeping the curtains closed prior to my arrival and giving me a huge fan in the room. Once the sun went down I opened all the windows but it was still too hot for me. They cannot control the weather but they could invest in air con, or external shutters to reduce the solar impact.

Everything! Can't rate this charming, quaint Inn highly enough. The staff were so lovely and accommodating. We arrived earlier than the designated check in time due to an early flight time and the staff kindly allowed us to freshen up in another room until our own room was ready. The bedrooms are stunning and we genuinely have never slept so soundly. The mattresses are so comfortable you literally don't want to get up. The aesthetics of the Inn are so apt for respecting the old and timeless traditions while enhancing the new. The Inn has a lovely mix of vintage decor with also new touches of comfort and warmth. You will happily soak up the environment and ambiance this beautiful Inn has to offer. The food and drinks were lovely too. The Inn is located 15 mins drive from the lovely town of Stratford Upon Avon which is steeped in history and also equally aesthetically pleasing. If you're interested in Diddly Squat Farm or possibly seeing the famous proprietor it's about 35 mins drive away and is well worth a visit. The area has lots to do or is also perfect for relaxing and unwinding. The fresh wild flower arrangements were absolutely stunning too. There were fresh floral displays on each dining table and it was a lovely touch. We'll definitely return and have already recommended it to family and friends.

I wouldn't change a thing. The place is perfect. There is nothing that needs to be improved. I feel very fortunate to have found this place on booking.com.

A beautiful old Inn full of atmosphere. The bedrooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and have everything you could possibly need. The bed was huge and so comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant was fresh, tasty and plentyful. Breakfast was great too. Everything was simply wonderful. We look forward to staying again soon

Nothing, everything was perfect.

This is our second stay and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time which was the reasoning for us returning!! it has beautiful old English charm and wonderful staff and it’s a great place to relax and use as a Centre base for your travels throughout the Cotswolds.

The restaurant meals are wonderful and the excellence of their chef is obvious in the evening meals but it would be nice to have some lighter fare during the day such as sandwiches or even a cream tea option.

The Howard Arms is a home away from home. I always stay there when I visit Ilmington, which is where I was born and raised until the age of 9. I thoroughly enjoy the ambience, the rooms and the staff. And I am always made welcome. There is an excellent restaurant and for those so inclined a very well provisioned bar plus a lovely garden for relaxing in good weather.

There is nothing to dislike.

This beautiful 'chocolate box' hotel oozes charm and warm hospitality. We had a wonderful stay with the friendliest staff who couldn't have been more good natured and attentive (with lots of local humour thrown in). We'd particularly like to mention Jo who put a smile on our faces with her cheery service. Thank you all for making our stay so enjoyable. We would not hesitate to recommend this gem of a hotel in such an idyllic English countryside setting!

The breakfasts were amazing. We loved our room and would like to return and try the room on the ground floor I think it is the garden room. Being 'older' we did find the sockets in the oak room rather low and our tea and coffee making facility was rather low too, but all things considered we had a lovely time. The staff were excellent we felt very welcome and were made very comfortable.

The level of the sockets. The level of the tea /coffee makong facility was also low. (Creaky knees and backs)

Staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Food exceptional, good choice of vegan options. Quiet location in Cotswolds, ideal for exploring other local villages, or Stratford and Warwick. Each room is individually decorated with comfortable beds and furnishings.

I really don't like to complain as staff and facilities are excellent. However we were staying in 2 rooms in the block built on to back of original pub building, and heating was not working properly. They tried to fix 3 times during our 3 night stay - the radiators would heat up for 2 hours but then not come back on again, so was very cold. We were glad that a free standing radiator was provided for my elderly parents and we were provided with a hot air plug in heater. But this was an issue during this visit. Have stayed several times over last 10 years and never had problems before

room, pub and fantastic evening meal - highly recommend

didnt like choosing breakfast day before as when it came next day there seemed to be a lot - hence lot of waste- it was coooked to order anyway so could have ordered on the day. Found portions too large, hash brown too greasy and shame couldnt provide a cappucino - told that they only do cafatiere for breakfast - Overal our stay was lovely with an excellent evening meal - breakfast experience not quite right for us though

A lovely pub in a small town. The town is situated in a place that is easy to get everywhere by car, but the roads and views are exceptional. The staff were lovely and accommodating and made you feel like one of the community.

It’s hard to find anything bad with such a lovely place. The Howard arms had character.
