We went to the Eight Bells for dinner because my husband was given a voucher for his 50th birthday last year. We decided to stay the night as well and were glad that we did because the food and the drink were wonderful, the staff were fab and the Inn itself is lovely! Would definitely go back again as it is quite near to us and we would love to try their Sunday lunch!

Everything was lovely - we had no complaints at all. The shower was a bit fiddly in the bathroom but that was about it really - We would love to go back and recommend the place to people who want to explore the village as it is in a great location and isn't overpriced

Everything about the Eight Bells Inn was fantastic. We loved the location in Chipping Campen, the Inn's history, the beautiful pub, the cask ales, the friendly and very helpful staff, our comfortable room, an amazing Saturday night dinner, and delicious breakfasts. Truly, everything on my wish list. We would be interested to know if you decide to use the Eight Bells logo on apparel or other collectibles. Thank you for a perfect weekend in and around Chipping Campden!

I cannot think of a single thing that we didn't like about the Eight Bells Inn. It was highly recommended to us and lived up to the hype on every level.

Absolutely love this place. This is our third stay. The staff are wonderful led by the super Julie and Karl. The food is just wonderful and so beautifully cooked and presented. The rooms are really comfortable and have all the things you need. The usual tea, hot chocolate and lovely coffee bags. Biscuits and water bottles replenished each morning when they service the room. Of course there are the usual toiletries in the bathroom. There is also a fan, hairdryer and a little ironing board and iron! Breakfast is lovely and freshly cooked. Highly recommend this hotel. The fact that the pub is lovely is the cherry on top!

Amazingly characterful property with a lovely atmosphere. Despite its age, the pub/restaurant & our room were lovely & warm. The staff were so very friendly; friendly, smiling & attentive. The owner/Manager Julie, even gave us a lift to our nieces wedding venue when we found it impossible to get a taxi... an over & above level of kindness!! The food was outstanding. Both the meal in the restaurant (my steak was perfectly cooked) & the full English we enjoyed on both mornings; all freshly cooked, well presented, hot & excellent quality (given their intense colour, the eggs were clearly local farm eggs) We both slept really well. The bed was so comfortable.

The Eight Bells couldn't have done anything better. The only slight negative was quite a noisy group in the adjoining rooms on Saturday night & with their proximity they disturbed us but all was quiet by 11pm so not really an issue.

The warmth of the welcome was wonderful from ast. Manager Karl. The property dates back 700 years so is full of character, low ceilings, uneven floors, clunky plumbing and soft beds. Everything creaks and groans. The food was exceptional and I would recommend a stay here for anyone who wants to experience a genuine Olde English coaching house, the Crown Plaza it isn’t. Thanks to Neil and Julie for a memorable stay, we will be back.

Low ceilings, uneven floors, clunky plumbing and soft beds. Everything creaks and gross and, the Crown Plaza it isn’t. Which is precisely why we will back. X

Breakfast was excellent as was dinner in the restaurant on the one night we ate there. Desserts a little on the pricey side. The main bar area is cosy and popular. Accommodation was good. Bed was very comfortable. We were in room 1 which was outside the back of the main pub upstairs in a separate area. Staff were friendly and helpful. Fantastic location right in the centre of the town.

The only criticism is the en-suite bathroom. The shower pressure wasn’t the best and the extractor fan was so blocked up with dust and fluff that it didn’t remove any of the steam from the bathroom following a shower causing lots of condensation on the bedroom window, mirrors and on the bedroom walls. This is going to cause a big mould problem for the owners. You can see mould has been cleaned off the paintwork previously.

This pub is a great place to base yourself for a stay in the Cotswolds. Located within the shadow of St. James's Church at the eastern end of Chipping Campden, it is in a quiet spot but everything in the village is easily within walking distance. Parking can be an issue. There is no dedicated car park for the inn and it is all on-street parking. Visiting at the end of November, we had no issues finding a spot near the inn but I can imagine in the height of the season, this could be a problem. We stayed for two nights and ate in the restaurant on one of those nights. The breakfast is cooked fresh-to-order and portions are utterly sufficient to set one up for the day. Dinner too was very good to the extent that a stroll around the village was required afterwards to aid digestion! The bar area is typically that of a country pub. There is a roaring fire in the season and the range of well-kept cask ales is impressive. The staff are all friendly souls and we were made to feel like very welcome guests and not merely transient travellers. Our room (no. 1) was wonderfully warm and the bed was supremely comfortable. The bathroom was a generous size and the shower was such that one lingered longer than one normally would. Both room and bathroom were impeccably clean. I have no hesitation in recommending the Eight Bells Inn.

I genuinely cannot think of anything about this place that I did not like.

The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. The pub is a typical Cotswolds country pub and is very comfortable and cosy. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast which offered a good selection and was very nicely presented. Tasted good too!

The room felt a little on the damp side but it was on the ground floor/basement and was probably difficult to ventilate sufficiently. Despite that, the bedding, towels (really fluffy!), and the other facilities in the room were on the better side of what you would expect.

The property was very very nice with a lovely pub and outdoor garden. On a positive note we were unable to charge our phone because we had forgotten an adapter. One of the staff, Carl, quickly gave us his personal extra one to keep as there were no places to buy one. He saved us BIG TIME! We had dinner and breakfast there and they were both excellent.

The bedroom walls were very thin and we could hear the entire nighttime conversation until well after midnight. It may have been staff getting off work.

The room was lovely. Very clean and well presented with a comfortable bed. Great breakfast. The one thing that really stood out for us was the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. The lady who served us at breakfast was cheery and polite, the bar staff and the waiters in the evening all enjoyed having a chat and looked very happy to be there! A thoroughly lovely place to stay. The evening menu was good, and the food arrived within 15 minutes - even on a busy Friday night.
