We didn't have the breakfast, as we were visiting a friend in the area so went to her house for breakfast. The room was spacious, the bathroom was good with a powerful shower. The bed was huge and so comfortable, as were the pillows. There was plenty of tea/coffee etc for our stay. The staff were so friendly and accommodating.

There were a couple of minor issues, ie, the radiators hadn't been turned on prior to our arrival so the room was cold, I had let them know when we were due to arrive, so I would have expected that the room was warm when we got there. However, I have already addressed these issues with the Manager, and why is it that coffee/tea/de-caf coffee is provided but not de-caf tea? Very minor but?? All in all I would definitely stay there again. The bar area was so welcoming, warm and Christmassy, it was lovely to relax with a glass of wine in a lovely armchair.

lovely compact rooms separate from the main building. huge comfortable bed with very adequate tea & coffee facilities. Ability to turn the radiator up or off depending on individual needs. we were visiting friends so didn't use the room as a base to visit locations as such, but it is close to Thirsk & a short drive to Allerton which is great for shopping. Fantastic Italian restaurant in Thirsk town centre which we can highly recommend too.

probably would have liked a blind or privacy net at the window as had to leave the curtains drawn, but it didn't affect our stay.

Fantastic place to stay. We loved the rooms being self-contained units rather than above the pub itself, made for a pleasantly quiet night. Also, it felt more private than being along a corridor of rooms. Nice not to have to lug our cases up lots of steps too, the car park is very close by. All the staff were absolutely lovely, very helpful and friendly. The comfiest beds I've used outside of the big branded hotels, decent size, really comfy mattresses, and 2 pillows per person as standard - a very pleasant surprise! Breakfast was incredible, we had the pancakes and omelette, wolfed them down, it was so good. Compliments to the chef! Really appreciated the 11am check out time, after a long week of early mornings it was nice to not have to rush to be out of our room.

Only small issues such as no towel rail in the bathroom (just used the closed toilet lid as a shelf while we showered, no problem), and our shower door didn't close fully (a few mm, not enough to actually cause an issue). Definitely no reason to be as incredibly rude as some other customers were while we were there! The owner explained why some things weren't necessarily perfect, and it is totally understandable. Give this place a chance, it's a real gem!

We booked four rooms:: 3 double and family which catered for all our needs of single person 2 couples and older lady who required ground floor access. Being next door to the beautiful pub was fab and made it easy for food, drinks etc. The location was great- 5 mins away from wedding venue and free parking made this perfect for us Food was plentiful and nice with lots of choice for meals and amazing puds! Host and staff were friendly, kind and caring, they went over and beyond to make sure we were happy and ok and had everything and more that we needed.

maybe a chair in the family room but this is no problem, just a tine thought for feedback

Nice pub with a decent menu. Breakfasts were great made to order and the staff very helpful. Plenty of parking available onsite. Rooms are in an annex across the yard. Rooms are not the biggest but they are functional. Staff were kind enough to prepare a ground floor room to avoid having to negotiate any stairs. Bathroom very small but good shower.

Not the owner’s fault but the bus service into town is abysmal so we needed taxis. Only down side was the stained toilet , doesn’t look like it’s seen bleach or a brush for ages and needs a new seat , it really needs to be sorted.

Absolutely lovely room, so cosy and homely , bed was unbelievably comfy ! Beautiful little outside seating to room even though it was raining I did take the chance to sit outside ! Lady who checked me in was so lovely and chatty made me feel very welcome !

Room could have been cleaner , snot like smears on wall, cushion just thrown on floor (presuming cleaner forgot to put it on bed) . No toilet roll was in the bathroom so had to go get some .

We were made too feel very welcome as soon as we got there, nothing was a problem for ceejay & Paul, wonderful host, couldn't do enough for us, rooms, clean, beds and pillows were comfortable, great atmosphere, and we can't forget Steve the chef, for the beautiful tasty breakfast, we went as customers and left as friends, will definitely be back, thank you, Sam & Jay,

There wasn't anything too dislike.

Lovely staff, easy location to find. Room was small but had everything you need with nice touches. We had a meal and drinks, the menu was limited but hosts went out of the way to accommodate our preferences. Food was delicious. Hugo the french bulldog was an absolute delight for me!😀

Car park quite small (we had small trucks) The single room was very snug which may not suit everyone. Being a voluptuous chick, I would've liked a bigger bath towel.

Staff were helpful in putting us in a ground floor room with my partner using a crutch and food at tea was exceptional

Bathroom small no where to put toiletries, few bits left on carpet on entry and cobwebs on ceiling near curtains was a struggle using hairdryer as no plug socket near the mirror . However that does not detract that it was a comfortable nighrs sleep

Great location, friendly staff, nice bar. Comfy bed.

The only thing I had a problem with was the bathroom re cleanliness. There were black hairs in the sink (neither of us have black hair) and a hair clip on the floor so not paid much to attention to detail. Apart from that it was fine. It just felt as if it needed a good clean. Also stairs up to the bedroom need a good hoover.
