Very handy location for our trip later towards Pickering. Being a pub it was nice to have meals available all day, we arrived late afternoon on a Sunday. Evening meal was nice, so was the breakfast the next day. Everything was good about the room, everything provided for a comfortable stay. Particular thanks to the very pleasant young man behind the bar who checked us in, served the drinks and took our food order, so too everyone else was so nice and friendly.

Ditch those silly and awful milk pod things. Loads available to use but half of them had gone off. You do supply a refrigerator in the room which is great so why not put a small jug of milk in there instead.

Breakfast was lovely, staff were very pleasant and helpful room was spacious and well equip plenty of parking. Although we didnt eat here in the evening the food looked fab and the menu was extensive

Although this is not the Old Oak Tree's fault we were attending for a wedding at the nearby Thirsk Barns but there were no taxis available to transport us to or from the venue dont know if this was because it was a Monday but thankfully a friend collected us and bought us back on return the place was in darkness so couldn't call in for a night cap luckily there was a garage open just down the road so we were able to get some soft drinks and snacks for the room

Lovely, spacious room. Very easy to get too. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing, they brought it to my room, which as I'm disabled was very helpful and kind. Price was very reasonable for the facilities and food. Have booked another stay there.

The parking can be difficult for someone with my mobility issues. It's a very busy place, the restaurant was heaving all night, so I did have to wait to get parked near my room. There is a space for cars opposite the rooms and I wonder if that may be reserved for those staying only?

It's always reassuring when you get welcoming messages from hosts so I was very pleased when my expected arrival time was acknowledged really promptly. And it was a real pleasure to get such a warm welcome when I arrived - so much better than the corporates. Everyone I met there was just lovely! My room had everything I could wish for - comfy beds, air conditioning, a spacious bathroom and even a mini fridge with some chilled water. There's a very good (and very popular) restaurant on site and my evening meal and breakfast were top class. The location is a little bit outside of Thirsk but you can walk into town in around 20 minutes. It's also just off the A19 so there's easy access to the attractions of North Yorkshire and beyond.

There really was nothing to dislike!

Amazingly spacious accommodation at a reasonable price for friends wanting single rooms. Set slightly away from the pub, the width of the road leading to the car park, which meant it was quiet. Rooms were large and light, well equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge, a sofa and table. I liked having the option of a bath as well as a shower. The pub had a huge selection of meals and specials, with people piling in for lunch and evening meal. What made it exceptional were the staff, in particular Daisy and Joe, who were genuinely friendly and went out of their way to do all they could for us - plates and cutlery in our room so I could surprise my friend with a birthday cake, allowing my friend to mix and match her evening meal choices, and provide a take away box for her dessert. I also liked the patio at the back which overlooked sheep and trees.

A small amount of traffic noise, but not intrusive.

Easy to find off the motorway as a stopover en route to Scotland. Lovely location with a nice river walk behind the property. Very good food, welcoming and friendly staff. Lovely terrace to sit out on the warm evening we were there. Our little unit in the separate building was great - had everything we needed.

Bed was comfortable but a little on the small side as a double bed. Had a good nights sleep though!

The room was comfortable with good quality furniture and bathroom with a bath and shower. Breakfast was nice. Dinner was usual pub quality food.

Dogs were allowed in the restaurant and I presume guest rooms. This is not acceptable to me. There was a mobile fridge unit opposite the accommodation block, so there was always the sound of a compressor. The bedspread was stained.

Perfect location for those travelling between Scotland and England. Welcoming to dogs. The stable rooms are just perfect. Very well priced for both accommodation and food. Rooms are clean, comfortable and whilst not luxurious more than adequate and very suited to furry guests. Staff are great, friendly and efficient.

All perfect.

Comfortable room, good shower and great food. A great place for the dog with a very good 7k circular cross country walk nearby.

It was rather warm last night and I missed the notice about the option to purchase air conditioning because it was under the TV remote control and I didn't watch TV... Would have been worth the £5 had I known.

What an excellent choice for an overnight stay close to Thirsk; easy access from the North or the South A1 this was a great 'pit-stop'. After spending the day in the Helmsley area we just wanted somewhere warm, friendly and comfortable for the night. This is the place with the added bonus of having a brilliant manager, great food and a fantastic south/west facing beer garden that catches the late afternoon sun. what is better than after a busy day sitting outside in the sunshine enjoying a G&T and a pint of Theakstons? The rooms were spacious, spotless and very quiet at night. The food choice and quality was superb, as was the breakfast. The beer was well kept and well served. The manager and his staff were very friendly and very efficient - you couldn't ask for anything more.

Nothing - everything was excellent. Just a shame that it was only a one night stay.
