The room was beautifully decorated with a comfortable bed and good bathroom. We didn’t have a view but that hardly mattered. The pub was central to the hamlet and had parking. We enjoyed the food and the chef (is Greek - Minos) is a real asset. We ate at the pub for the 3 nights we stayed. Bronwen the owner helps out and is keen to make the pub work for the customers and as a business.

Not much to dislike- the breakfast is fine but sometimes the milk, juices and butter ran out but was replenished. The choices were fine but I think I would have liked to have a pain au chocolate as well as eggs Benedict or granola.

Staff made us feel so welcome, and even the Local Farmers having a drink in the bar and outside area made us so Welcome so friendly and made for such an enjoyable stay the room was very clean, and the bed we had was super comfortable and Enough room for my GSD who's not the smallest of Dogs . The food was excellent, and breakfast was more than you could ask for. I would recommend 5 stars 🌟

The only thing struggled with parking but managed to get a space once people had finished in the bar and I would say it's a very steep bank outside, so if anyone not have a good set of legs and lungs for the dog walking .

Beautiful and comfortable room and really enjoyed my stay. All staff were very friendly and helpful and showed interest in their clients. It was a busy night in the pub but noise stopped at closing time and I had a great nights sleep! I have to mention being blown away with the quality of the food which I really didn’t expect. The dishes really suited my taste preference and though I was travelling alone I felt very welcome. I would 100% stop here again.

Nothing really as it felt really welcoming from first arrival. There had been a soap box event on the day which resulted in some roads being closed nearby which meant travelling in very narrow country lanes. Wasn’t an issue until a vehicle came the other way. Even then the locals were very willing to help me find a better route. There seems to be a great community in the area.

The property was in excellent condition having been recently renovated to a very high standard. There was ample off road parking in a quiet location. The bedroom and bathroom were presented to an equally high standard. Very clean and comfortable with complimentary toiletries. The owner was present and very welcoming and engaging. She was supported by her staff Alisha and Billy who were exceptionally polite and courteous and a good chef who prepared delicious snacks, evening meal and breakfast. The bar was well stocked, immaculately clean and the service by the barman (sorry, I didn't take his name)was quick and drinks prepared properly. Overall, an excellent gem of a hotel.

Nothing. I could not find fault.

The hotel is in a lovely little village on rookery hill. The room was very nicely decorated and presented and the bed was very comfortable. Powerful shower and plenty of room. Wifi was good as well. The bar had good beer and other drinks and good prices. Staff were friendly and accommodating and the cooked breakfast was really nice. We didn't eat as got there about 8 p.m. but the pub was quite full and food look really nice.

We didn't encounter any problems, other than a bit of noise from the bar, but this all went quiet at closing time. Ear plugs provided.

This was our third visit to the Red Lion and definitely will not be our last. We are already hoping to book for next year. The chef cooked some great food the South Africa curry was delicious. All the people who work there and run the pub are very friendly. Once again we stayed in Beech which is spacious and clean and the en-suite has a lovely walk in shower. Oakford is very pretty and rural which is perfect for us with our dogs and just a 25 minute drive to Exmoor for lots of walks.

Nothing it was all good

It was located in a very small village. We only went for a one night stay for my wife’s birthday. The food was good. The bed and the room were very comfortable.

We had a very small incident with the shower door which came off its runner, When I told our host, they said oh it’s happened before, which is a little bit concerning if it’s a ongoing problem and they have not fixed it, the door is quite heavy and made of glass and if it fell on somebody might hurt them. (the room is Birch)

The staff were so pleasant and helpful Nohing was too much trouble Food very good with the best scrambled eggs ever. Quirky property with tasteful blend of what you would expect from an old listed building with a contemporary touch. Fascinating history.

Floors a bit squeaky but to be expected in a property with history. Parking slightly challenging but again to be expected for a small village pub on a steep hill with virtually single track roads in places. Beautiful part of the world counterbalanced the situation admirably. So all in all a lovely place to stay with very comfortable bed.

We made a last minute decision to stay at the pub because we had a 3 day power cut due to storm Darragh. When we arrived at the pub we discovered they also were without power. But the wood burner was roaring, the bar was open and the locals were lovely. The chef even managed to make us excellent steak sandwiches on a camping stove. So well above and beyond considering the circumstances. Absolutely brilliant, a huge thank you to the whole team.

It was all amazing.

This hotel is in a lovely quiet village. It serves good beer (Otter) and delicious food, especially the wonderful breakfast. It is a little gem and is ideal as a 'stop off' on the way to Cornwall. We had a fantastic comfortable 'King' bed - I think we were in the Oak Room.

No hanging space for clothes - but this is being sorted. I was able to chat with the owner at breakfast and discover the recent history of the Hotel. Too many mirrors in the en-suite - I could see myself scores of times - no kidding.
