The facilities are fabulous, huge comlex so enough room to accommodate a variety of ages. All staff are so efficient at their jobs, therefore, everything runs smoothly. We stayed in an apartment, which really helped make our stay cheap with buying food in and tea and coffee. I know the restaurant food is amazing though as we have stayed before. Location is perfect, quiet, but also convenient to the front where there are plenty more bars and restaurants.

No towels were offered for free in the swimming pool, and as we were staying in an apartment, our room did not naturally offer a change of towels. Also, there is no conditioner in the bathroom.

I was alittle disappointed that the meals were mostly self-service. I had expected a greater incidence of table service. However, Joanna and I had no complaints about the meals themselves. The food was almost without exception of excellent quality, full of flavour - always the RIGHT flavour - and with plenty of choice. My compliments to the chef, whoever he is [or they are]. The en-suite was well appointed and things worked. The lighting arrangements also worked well. The staff were courteous and helpful. I should like to know whether the injured seagull I saw in Chestnut Ave. was reported to the RSPCA, but it had gone the next time we passed there.

We might have liked to have sampled the entertainment, but found that, starting at 9.15 pm, it was a little late for us. One more thing - for a TWIN room, we both felt that TWO chairs would have been preferable to ONE chair! Returning tired from a long country walk we really did miss BOTH of us being able to slump simultaneously into chairs for a quiet read and a cup of tea before dinner!

The room was a good size, the bed was on the small size for a double and the pillows were rock hard and very uncomfortable. The room is dated but clean and comfortable. Tea and coffee facilities in the room. The breakfast was buffet style but fresh and tasty. The entertainment at this hotel is usually amazing unfortunately we chose the wrong weekend. There were skittle matches going on that took over the whole hotel, I will watch out for this next time I book.

I chose this hotel for the entertainment but there was not any on this particular weekend it was dedicated to teams that played games. This was going on in the arcade area and the entertainment area.

We loved having pool and entertainment within the hotel. Food was very good and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Special mention to Victoria who greeted us on arrival with big smile and Marius, who made my daughter's evening by getting her favourite meal cooked at the dinner.

It's not that I didn't like it, but it could be better - our bathroom needed some serious refurbishment.

The breakfast had lots of choice, excellent. Dinner was also good, tasty soups, lots of choice on the salad bar. Some meals were plain. I didn’t expect to see cottage pie on a hotel menu, but was tasty. The spa gave excellent value for money. Well worth pre booking, get a % off prices. The outdoor pool looked nice but I didn’t use it as weather not good enough to go in an unheated pool. Plenty of tea& coffee provided in rooms was nice.

The lift broke down twice, but was repaired fairly quickly. For me climbing stairs 3 floors was an ordeal when it was out of order. Although there’s a map of the outlay, would have been good to know earlier the short cut to other parts of the complex. I did ask 3 staff but they didn’t know. One light didn’t work in my room, not a problem though. Bedrooms hot, but fan provided. The car park was small at the Victoria, I think it would be better if those metal lumps outside the front door were removed, as I scratched my car trying to turn out the car park from the tight spaces. There was more parking at the rear for those not bothered how far to walk.

Great location by the sea for 5 days. Large comfortable apartment - comfortable beds and hotnpowerful showers. Great spa / leisure pool. On-site shop was great. Outdoor pools sadly didn’t feel heated as stated. Kitchen poorly equipped - luckily we brought our own utensils - but was clean. Ps Please also provide guests with enough toilet roll and bin bags (none provided) for their stay. Thanks

Our main issue was Key cards - what a nightmare! We had to go to reception have them changed 3 times every day during our stay. Waste of precious holiday time and very frustrating. The Evening entertainment wonderful for all ages. Would come again if key card issue sorted! Ps Please also provide guests with enough toilet roll and bin bags (none provided) for their stay.

Lovely hotel, very handy for the road train and downhill to the Harbour. Staff very pleasant, entertainment in hotel and next door in sister hotel. Staff in bar very friendly and helpful particularly Tia

Stayed in the apartments but no lift to get luggage and supplies up if not on ground floor. Old building that could do with a little refurbishment in apartments Be warned quite a steep walk to hotel from town and harbour and taxis not that readily available in the evening

Always stayed in the Derwent before and the Victoria didn’t disappoint. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice. Room was lovely and spacious with plenty of storage space, cleaned daily. Would stay here again without a doubt.

The reason we went was for my husbands 65th Birthday and we were looking forward to the nightly entertainment in the starlight lounge. Unfortunately the room was booked each night for a private function as was the entertainment room in the Victoria. Asking at both the Derwent and Victoria receptions we were told no quiz, no bingo and the entertainment was outside the Aztec bistro. We did go and see the singers on both nights but there was hardly anyone there as although we had lovely days the weather was too cold for outside entertainment. Bitterly disappointed as it was supposed to be a good birthday weekend. We were back in our rooms by about 10 after the cold outside entertainment.

The facilities & evening entertainment

Breakfast disappointing - went in at 8am first ones in for breakfast the cooked was stone cold ! Would prefer to choose for pastries not ask for croissant off the menu - lady in charge more like Hitler needs to learn how to address staff & customers in a more pleasing manner - stayed at Grand Hotel week before their breakfast was faultless - would stay again at Victoria but no breakfast room only

Facilities are brilliant, the staff were all friendly / helpful and the entertainment was excellent. Food choices were also very good - Alberts Bar in particularly, was great value for money. The refurbished apartments were also much better during this stay. We had a wonderful time and will be returning - thank you!

Some areas in the hotel are a little tired looking but it didn’t take away from our enjoyment and I understand that the hotel are making improvements little by little.
