Very clean and comfortable, if I'm away from home and missing all my home comforts this is the next best option

Staff were non existent for checking in and out. On arrival I was told, by a member of sraff, to wait upstairs by the check in desk, and there I waited for a full 10 minutes, then I went back downstairs and found the manager who was surprised to see me despite the lady behind the bar insisting she tried to tell him I was waiting.... obviously didn't try hard enough. Checking out was just as fun, I couldn't find a member of staff, just another guest desperately looking for a way out to enjoy his first cigarette of the day. I just left my key card on the reception desk and left.

Great location in high Street, off road secure parking and super friendly staff. Room was clean and nice touches with coffee machine and chocolate brownies! Staff were very friendly and helpful first time we stayed here and will do again.when visiting friends nearby.

Room was comfy lighting could be better, one bedside lamp not working and unable to get bathroom mirror light to work. Room dark due to keeping blinds down as view wasn't so good at the back of property not a problem for us as we just using room for sleeping.

Comfort of the bed Size of the bedroom Size of the bathroom although a bit faded around the edges of the floor in terms of cleanliness The young staff were extremely good and enthusiastic

Not being told that there was a £40 deposit added to the cost of the room in case you ran off with minibar items. This should be on the website it was only when I gave my credit card details on check in that I asked why there was this additional cost. this should be flagged up in advance NB we didn't use the minibar but maybe they have had bad experiences with customers in the paste The lighting was very dim so you couldn't read, Light on the table didn't work and on the next day the standard lamp also didn't work - did report to staff so if you stay in room 1 hope has been addressed

Loved all the extra touches like a mini bar and snacks available in the room. Loved that there was a supply of extra tea bags and hot chocolate etc on the landing if you run out. Fresh milk in the fridge. Breakfast and food in the pub was fantastic. Location on high street but not affected by noise overnight and close for a nice stroll around the shops. Lighting was my only frustration.. too dark in bedroom but not a complaint just a niggle

Lighting in bedroom too dim . Could read or put make up on easily

Room was lovely, well decorated and plenty of space and also the option of having a snack item or a drink in the fridge at an additional cost which was a nice touch as well as the home made brownie instead of biscuits and a quality selection of cosmetics for the bathroom. Ample parking and good selection of food at breakfast.

The air conditioning wasn't great but they did have a good fan instead.

Location fab as going to the races and seeing a live band at Sandown! Fab room, lovely staff, friendly and welcoming. Great room, comfy bed, nice bathroom. Breakfast was awesome!

The only think we think you could improve on is leaving a price list of what all the items in the fridge and snacks cost? Wasn’t sure if we had to pay for coffee and tea or not so didn’t use. Price list would be helpful!

Great location, lovely spacious room, very friendly and attentive staff, good food. There was a mini fridge in the room with fresh milk for coffees etc which makes all the difference. Duvets feather which we like and generally a calm comfortable feel about the whole place.

The only gripe about the entire stay I guess was the shower because the water pressure wasn’t great. But it is England and you get used to it. Just have to work a bit harder and smarter to get clean 🤣

All good.. parking ideal and super room . V comfortable. Ample complimentary toiletries and hot drinks/brownies. Could see staff were very busy but all very polite and helpful. Extensive breakfast choice… delicious!

A bit dark for reading at the table.. I had studying and writing to do but managed ok. I put the breakfast request in my door but nobody collected it. Wasn’t a major problem but didn’t realise - had to go downstairs for breakfast when I realised no breakfast coming and was a bit pushed for time. I should perhaps have not been so greedy and ordered a smaller breakfast.. however the cooked full vegan was delicious!!! Worth the wait. No true negatives really .. just teased them out for the review!

Beautiful room overlooking the street. Lovely bar staff and they sell Whispering Angel by the glass. Lovely toiletries and a VERY comfortable sleep. Lots of nice touches - Bramble products, complimentary brownies and well stocked mini bar. Breakfast seemed expensive at £17.95 pp but there are lots of coffee shops and restaurants locally where you can get something to grab and go.

Car park is rather small - its first come first serve but I managed to park for free at the library round the corner - just remember to be wheels away by 8.00am to avoid a parking ticket.

Great stay. I used to live in Esher when I was young and poor and I always dreamed of staying at the Bear. The room I had was not quite as nice as the website pictures, but it will still nice.

Would have liked a better visual representation on the website of the actual hotel and rooms. More "true to life" pics and a bit less "movie magic".
