Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was our anniversary and they put petals on the bed and a bottle of Prosecco in our room which was a lovely touch. Room was spacious and clean - we stayed in room 6 (Shute) and we loved that we got breakfast served in the room. Breakfast was excellent, especially the pancakes! Excellent location in the middle of both Windermere and Bowness (15 minutes walk to both). Great value for money.

Lovely spacious room. Very clean and everything needed was provided, plus extras such as dressing gowns. Beds were very comfy and extra heating was provided due to freezing weather. Nice little welcoming touches too such as mulled wine on our arrival were much appreciated Excellent breakfast both mornings Staff were very friendly and helpful, helping us shovel snow and were happy to let us leave our car there as the conditions were terrible due to snow. Great location very near and very walkable to both Windermere and Bowness on Windermere
The breakfast was amazing but some baked beans with the English breakfast would have made it perfect

Lovely quirky property. Staff are friendly. Beautiful tasty breakfast. Highly recommend the pancakes! Good location. About a 15 minute walk down hill to the centre. It is uphill on the way back so takes a little longer on the return journey however there is a regular bus that stops not far from Rum Doodle. Very quiet area. A good selection of teas on the tea tray and really nice toiletries too. A fan in the room was welcomed with it being such hot weather. A hairdryer was also provided.
Our room had a bath in the bedroom and was located under the eaves which made it difficult to get in and out of. Couldn’t stand up to use the shower. I struggled everyday to get out of it due to arthritis in my knees. The bed although quite comfortable was very creaky. I was quite disappointed that we weren’t offered coffee/tea and cake on arrival as was mentioned in the property synopsis. We arrived at 2pm to be told we couldn’t get in our room til 2.30pm but we were hoping to get at least a drink, even water, and to use the bathroom as we had just had a 3 hour journey on a very hot day. It was a pleasant enough stay though as it was to celebrate my partners’ 50th birthday.

Welcome tea and cake on a very wet afternoon. Electric radiator in wardrobe able to dry out clothes so was very useful.Rum Doodle book to read. Lovely new bathroom. Facilities in room were excellent. Bed and bedding was lovely. Quiet road not too far to walk to the lake.
Host did not seem interested in us or our journey. Pleasant but uninterested on a very wet weekend. No tourist info in the room. Could not open the top of the sash window, only the bottom which as the bedroom was on the ground floor was not good at night. No communal lounge but I knew that on booking.

From start to finish, it was a lovely stay. We were a little early for check in but were given our keys and told we could turn up any time after check in (14:30). We stayed in room 9, the summit. It was very clean and tidy, comfortable bed, nice livingroom area to relax in with lovely views out the windows. We went down for breakfast at the start of service, nice breakfast room with a good selection of items for breakfast along with a cooked breakfast if you liked. The woman working there is super friendly and makes you feel like a valued guest. We would absolutely stay here again, probably in the same room.
The only minor thing worth mentioning, if you have a low car, the hill up to the carpark round the back may need a couple of attempts to not scrape, there is however parking at the front too.

We stayed for 4 nights in December 2023, just after the snow fell. There was plenty of choice for breakfast, there was also a small breakfast table in our room where we could eat if we chose to. The theme of the room was based around the book 'The Ascent of Rum Doodle'. by Earnest Bowman. There was a copy of the book in the room, which was very funny. The bed was comfy and the pillows were excellent, meaning we had a good nights sleep.
There was nothing we didn't like.

We enjoyed our comfortable room no 6 Shute with a 4 poster bed and breakfast served by a very cheerful and bright member of staff. The bed had lovely crisp sheets and we liked the large towels. It was good to get the car parked off the street. Breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked for us. We walked to a pub around the corner and down into town our second night. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to walk to the second pub. We did choose the place as we had read the book and were very glad we did especially being greeted on arrival when tired with an offer of wine thank you.

Location is fantastic, a short walk either direction to Bowness or Windermere. The property exceeded my expectations and the room was lovely and very comfortable. Ellie (who looked after us during our stay) was probably the best front of house person I have come across. Friendly, helpful, accommodating. We experienced severe weather conditions during our stay, with weather warnings in place urging people not to travel. We were reassured that we could stay for an additional night at short notice if required, and they also accommodated a later check out so that we could get onto the road safely. We will definitely be going back.
Nothing to add here.

We had Pancakes and it was fabulous. Enjoyed for straight away 2 days in breakfast with my wife. There are a lot of options available in breakfast. The Things are creative around the room and also on the walls, which is great. Equipments are available for extra cold and heat to make ourselves more comfortable.
The pillows were too thick and got neck pain for me and my wife both. And, all of the equipment are with timer of thirty minutes, in winter, it's not feasible to wake up and start it again. Additionally, the Netflix was not working in TV, which was our plan. but we had to change our plan.

It's in a very quiet location, about half way between Windermere and Bowness. The walk to Bowness Pier is about 15 minutes going down there, but about 20 minutes coming back, due to the slope. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom had been remodeled recently, there were abundant towels and products, and the beds were good. We didn't have the cooked breakfast, but it looked and smelled great. Our continental breakfasts were plentiful and fresh. It was very hot while we were there, so we were glad of the fan in the room. It was cooler at night. There's parking behind the premises as well - and parking is really hard to find in this part of the world!
I think my only comment would be that the cushion covers on the throw cushions in our room could use laundering, as they are starting to get a bit of an odour.
