Sonia was very thorough with all the information we'd need for entry to the hotel, amenities, and where our room was. The bedroom itself was very spacious, comfortable and clean, with plenty of supplies for teas and coffees on the dresser. The hotel itself is in a great area with plenty of food choices nearby and about a 5 minute walk to the lake itself for some lovely views.

The bathroom is very, VERY small. Obviously this will be due to needing to outfit an old building with modern amenities but I would advise being careful when going to the bathroom after someone has had a shower or your socks will get wet haha! It was not a problem for us but in our particular room the bathroom is also up a single but steep step which could be a problem for anyone with assisted mobility needs. In general Bowness on Windermere is somewhat inaccessible in terms of slopes and stairs everywhere you go so I'm sure anyone looking to stay here would be aware of this regardless.

good location

The location is perfect, in the centre of Bowness close to the lake, bars and restaurants. There is limited free parking and we managed to get a place, which was very convenient. Our room was clean and comfortable, with an ensuite which was small but worked well. Plenty of tea & coffee. Although the hotel is billed as staff-free, Sonia and her husband were about doing maintenance and were very pleasant and helpful. Excellent communal areas for having snacks and meeting up. Good value, especially given the central location.

Our room had a very low bed which, being mature types, took a little getting up from. The ensuite has a fair step, and in our room there was only a small gap between the bathroom door and the bed, making it awkward to step down.

Access to the hotel was really easy, codes were sent on time and contact with owner was with great ease. Quick response to questions. Fantastic location. The Hotel although a little dated was absolutely perfect for what we needed. The view from our room was just gorgeous of the lake and we got to watch Bunny rabbits running around on the lawns of the Belsfield. The room was comfortable for the three of us, The bathroom was obviously added into the building as to add the ensuite, so is small and dated but more than adequate for the facility of use. The kitchenette area is fantastic especially with having a young daughter with us, made it easy to prepare our own food and feed her in the hotel. Would highly recommend. The parking spots at the back of the hotel had ample space for three cars with ease.

Everything was great

Everything - ex location. There was a cancellation on a lake view room and I was contacted to upgrade as I’d requested. Bedroom had a small seating area with view over the Lake. Bed, sheets and quilt were all lovely and cosy and I couldn’t quite believe we got it for the price. Lots of reviews mention the bathroom and yes it was small but the shower was super hot and powerful and absolutely spotless. for the money I wouldn’t expect anything more. The hotel is contactless so you just collect your key at the front door in a lock box all went smoothly and was nice to come and go as you please. There is a kitchen / sitting area downstairs and outside terrace if you needed that but we ate out at the many restaurants and bars locally. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Room was lovely and cosy and in a fantastic location.

You can hear absolutely everything. We were woken up at 2:30am by people shouting right outside who then actually were staying in the hotel making lots of noise coming up the stairs and were staying above us being very loud, when they finally quietened down and seemed to go to sleep we could actually hear snoring.

We had arrived after 8pm at the end of walking The Dales Way and were very tired. The boutique hotel is situated on the street opposite the Royal Oak pub where you arrive at the end of the walk so ideal. Patricia the manager went above and beyond to help us. She ensured our luggage was safely put in the room when Sherpa dropped it off, helped us access the hotel + sorted out breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble for her.

We did not have the correct access codes for the front door and the room. We had not been given the room name either. Patricia sorted this out for us even though it was after 8pm. We should also have had a breakfast voucher, we didn't but were reimbursed for the breakfast we bought at the Magic Roundabout-my favourite cafe/ restaurant in Bowness.

Amazing location. Very close to the centre but just up a quiet road. You wouldn't know you were so close to town because it was very peaceful. The view from the room was great. You can see the lake and the ferry. Also good side view of the fells from the fantastic bay window. And you can see the rabbits play on the lawn opposite. 2 comfortable chairs to watch the view. We didn't hear any noise in the room, very quiet and peaceful. Patricia was very welcoming and immediately made us feel at home

The bathroom is very small and cramped. It felt like a prefabricated one that is dropped in place. It was clean and fully functional though. The bed is quite hard, as are the pillows.

The position is really close to the Bowness Pier, with bus stops and pier in 5 minutes walking distance. The apartment is clean and well equipped in public area, with fridge, oven, toaster and microwave oven. The view is fantastic from the window. Sonia is very helpful in offering storage locker before check-in time and even after check-out time. Strongly recommended.

The toilet is actually a bit smaller than expected.

Easily accessible in central Bowness. Access via codes worked well. Liked the ‘ask if you want the room cleaned’. Shower was excellent, nicer comfortable chairs for relaxing and bed was comfortable. Opening windows so fresh air available. Although the room was on the roadside it was quiet as traffic limited. Overnight parking available in the municipal car park only 4 minutes walk away.
