The room was very clean, tastefully decorated and with a very comfortable bed. They went beyond the norm with ground coffee and cafetière and a jar full of biscuits in the room. The bathroom had a wonderful walk in shower and giant fluffy white towels. The location is very peaceful with ample parking. The lunchtime snacks were imaginative and delicious. With a focus on local ingredients, dinner was wonderful, especially the Bruton Brie which was the creamiest Brie I have ever tasted. They have a very nice selection of wines, most of which are available by the glass. Breakfast was also a treat. They stew their own prunes with cinnamon, start anise, bay leaves and tea bags which shows the level of imagination and effort they put in to make the Red Lion special. All the staff were extremely friendly and professional.

Rooms and location

Overall a wonderful experience. The rooms and gen location exceptional and fantastic value for Money. One small point that could be improved is The check in process. The person who greeted us at the propery behaved as if it were a chore checking us in. They didn’t tell us that we had to order the breakfast the following morning so we got up and there was no one to be seen. Perhaps this could be added to the information in the room.

Lovely pub in the middle of nowhere with good rooms and great restaurant. Rooms were beautifully furnished.. in a separate barn to the pub. Lovely toiletries and biscuits in the room. Food was really good..sat by the fire beforehand with a glass of vino. Plenty of parking. Breakfast next day was good. Would definitely go back.

Only minor.. WiFi wasn’t great in the room and the dining room lighting was quite bright. Pub didn’t open until 6 which was fine for us but good to know if you’re planning on getting there earlier and wanting to go to the bar.

Room tidy and modern, located in a quaint and quiet village, nice to have fresh coffee grounds in the room. Fantastic food and lovely atmosphere in the bar, waiting staff exceptional.

Room was quite dark, cafetiere was dirty and needed replacing, teapot cracked so leaked everywhere. Sign in room suggests fresh milk available throughout your stay but if the bar is shut there is only a phone number for emergencies. Bedsheets very stiff and noisy.

Large well appointed rooms and a very comfortable bed. Location easy to find and large car park close to the rooms. Good nights sleep with no external noise from road or other guests.

Unexpectedly cold weather snap made the room cold and , as you would expect the central heating wasn't on. This made the bathroom particularly cold. Host resolved the problem very quickly though by offering a fan heater for the room. Small backup electric radiators would be useful for our now irratic weather.

Absolutely brilliant Pub with gorgeous rooms. Bed really comfortable, great facilities like a cafetiere not instant and a bottle of milk supplied. Very peaceful and great food. Had no expectations so was very pleasantly surprised and happy. Lovely welcome from staff and fully informed me of extra facilities that were available on request like and iron and ironing board.

Only thing I would have liked is somewhere to put suitcase rather than floor. Minor thing but back not great.

Wonderful place to stay, with massive clean rooms. The pub is gorgeous and the breakfast was delicious. My husband and I got ourselves into a pickle and were late to attend a wedding nearby, and the very lovely owner gave us a lift to the venue. Many thanks to her again! 10/10 would recommend - wish we stayed there longer.

The property is thatched and looks like a pub from the outside but inside has been nicely refurbished. The accommodation is in a separate building and the family room (room 6) was spacious and had been refurbished. Bed large and comfortable, nice bedding.

There wasn’t any WiFi throughout our two night stay. The breakfast was a very limited choice and expensive at £14.50. The evening meal was very nice but small portion and very pricey at £24.

Fabulous hotel and stay, The staff were incredibly welcoming both at check in and dinner and breakfast service. The food was exceptional and the menu had a good variety. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I also left an item of clothing behind and had to call to see if I could get the item returned the staff were most helpful and agreed to post back as I live over 200miles away.

I would have liked a shower in my room, My room only had a handheld shower nozzle other than that no complaints.

We had a lovely stay at The Red Lion. Our room was really nice with a modern bathroom. We stayed two nights and it was very quiet and peaceful. We ate in the restaurant three times and each time the food was very good indeed.

Service in the restaurant was rather slow but as we weren't in a rush it didn't matter. Definitely not the right place to pop in to for a quick bite to eat! Breakfast on our first morning was hot and delicious but sadly on the second morning everything was only lukewarm which rather spoilt it.
