This is a nice historic property, and I feel a unique experience to stay in an inn this old. The accommodation is comfortable, and had everything we needed. Charlotte at the front desk is incredibly welcoming, friendly and accommodating. This place has old world charm and I would stay again if passing through Mobile. The location is great, a short walk into the main area of town, and close to many historic attractions. It’s also set in a nice, quiet & clean area of town.
We were a little disappointed we had paid for a historic room with balcony, thinking we’d get one of the rooms at the front with a fireplace and cast iron balcony. Unfortunately, all those rooms were in use, and one was out due to maintenance issues. The room we stayed in was outside the reach of the property’s WiFi, which was a little annoying. The shower curtain needed to be washed, as did the anti slip mat. The room had broken, missing or mismatched fixtures and fittings which detracted a little from the overall boutique feel of this place, purely cosmetic, rather than an actual annoyance. Our beds base sheet was lightly stained.

This is a beautiful, very old hotel with wrought-iron railings, wooden floors, and a shady courtyard that is well kept right in the middle of the city of Mobile. This be a very nice romantic getaway for any couple that just wants to relax. The rates were very reasonable as well. I would love to stay here again and would recommend this hotel to anyone needing a quite, comfortable place to stay in Mobile.
I stayed on a very hot summer day and the A/C in my room had a very hard time keeping the room cool. Thank goodness there was a good ceiling fan.

The Inn lobby and courtyard are lovely especially when lit up at night. Our room was spacious and well-appointed with antiques, a style we really enjoy in a historic type place. The location was fantastic: walking distance to several parks, the old downtown bars and restaurants, museums, etc.
There was noise from construction early on Sunday morning behind our room but that wasn't the Inn's fault. The arena behind us is undergoing renovation. A little issue with cleanliness, but very minor and did not detract from our stay. We would happily stay again at Malaga.

It's an old hotel, but the rooms and property are well kept. It's sort of like a look back in the 1800's South. I felt as though I was in the Gone With Wind when I used the stairs to access my room. I was waiting for Rhett Butler to come down. It really goes back into it's own time. Very cool. There was a lovely woman checking me in at the front desk. She took the time to explain the surroundings and also had a a steel listing well known restaurants nearby. Very helpful and welcoming.
Okay, well everyone has something to complain about when it comes to a hotel or motel room. I'm not here to bash this hotel. I understand things are old and it may not be what I'm use to. But here goes: Elevator was out when I arrived, WIFI didn't work, TV didn't work because it's connected to the wifi and the hot water took a while to get hot. Overall, room was spacious and extremely clean. Wood plank floors, high ceilings and vintage art on the walls everything you expect from a hotel built in 1862!!! Would I stay there again? ABSOLUTELY!

This such an historic place! First built in 1862 then renovated and added to in the 1960s it has a special charm. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. The location is simply wonderful! We liked it's romantic charm so much we stayed twice in the past month! For a short stay it is a great place. There are a couple of wonderful parks nearby that you can walk around and then there are all the neat shops on Dauphin street to explore. We felt VERY safe and we are seniors.
This is not a modern facility - as noted. There are no working elevators, and no refrigerator/microwaves in the room. This would not really have mattered before we became Medicare age seniors. You really need to be downstairs to use the Internet as it is very spotty upstairs. However, knowing these few things, we still stayed twice in the past month. We DID learn the hard way that there is virtually NO WAY to get to Gulf Shores on FRIDAYS if you leave later than 10 am, but of course that has NOTHING to do with Malaga - only the Bankhead Tunnel which is impossible on Fridays.

An older hotel w/ a good Vibe. It's a little quirky, but as close to downtown as you need to be. Lots and lots of restaurants and such is well within walking distance. Our room, 207 was of a decent size with two very comfortable beds. The staff is just great. Very easy going and eager to please!
There was an air handler in the bathroom ceiling that ran and ran and ran. Thank God for ear plugs. The shower was slow to drain. Not a huge issue, but one of my very few pet peeves. The old gal is showing some age, but you can tell she is well loved and we have an appreciation for that kind of "patina."

Beautifully preserved old inn with tangible historic value. Lovely patio, beautiful authentic yet comfortable rooms and very close to city centre. Lovely ladies at reception - very welcoming.
This wonderful old building has an interesting layout - so the elevator (which already is great it’s there seeing the age of the building) does not go all the way to the top floor. You’ll have to take a flight of stairs to reach top floor - this does not impact 1 and 2nd floors. Kind receptionist explained directions clearly. Not a problem for us at all, but something to keep in mind when booking, if you have heavy luggage just let them know.

We were given the James bond room suite which was fun. It was a very large and comfortable space with a lovely balcony overlooking the beautiful courtyard. The initial front of house staff seemed rather abrupt, however it didn't affect our stay. I did feel that some of the decor looked rather tired but I want the reiterate that is was comfortable and more than adequate for our needs. Would stay again if in the area.
WiFi was quite poor, my husband was sitting in the bath trying to get a signal.

I liked the quaint Victorian feel. The courtyard was a beautiful place to sit and enjoy some fresh air. And the room was very spacious and had everything we needed. The location was perfect for conveniently getting to the places we wanted to visit while we were in town. And we can’t forget to mention Arnetta!! She was very welcoming a was such a joy to talk to. She made us feel like we were home! We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Mobile.
There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about the property.

The location is perfect; a most beautiful neighborhood and near the main atractions. The trees and gardens are magnificent. A true paradise. The old historic house is beautiful, most interesting; amazing. The room and furniture is very nice and confortable; you do not feel in a hotel, but in a clasical home. The inner patio is fantastic.
Internet only works in the lobby; that is a big problem. There should be a small refrigerator in the room. A safebox would be convenient.
