location was great, easy walking distance to the convention center. staff was very friendly, prompt, knowledgeable and helpful. Room was available a little early and i was able to get settled in which was awesome.
the layout and design of the rooms are just not that comfortable. The (concrete?) floors are a bit strange and I could hear every step the room above me made. The shower is just out in the open and can be seen from the bed so sharing the room with anyone other than a partner would be super awkward. The bed appears to be a king size but you can feel the break in the middle from two mattresses or mattress pads so it is not a true king. The luggage storage doesn't have a person in charge so you can only leave your bags at your own risk as the storage room is just locked with a code.

I stayed at the Keating while in town for a convention. If you’re looking for a place to relax and recharge, this place will do nicely. Room was plenty big and had a small refrigerator. There is no restaurant at the hotel but there are plenty of food options within easy walking distance whether you’re looking for sit down or to go. Very easy walk to the convention center. Staff texted every day to check how stay was going and if any assistance was needed.
Although the shower has both a rain head and a standard head, there is no door, so it’s possible to splash water on the floor.

I loved the vintage, historic look and story of this building. The front desk staff were very knowledgeable and friendly, offering great recommendations for parking, restaurants, and local spots to visit. They even provide earplugs probably because the rooms have high ceilings and could echo but we didn’t need them at all. The beds were clean and comfortable; I usually have trouble sleeping in hotel beds, but I slept great here. The showers are walk-in style, with both handheld and rainfall options, plus a bench for easy handicap accessibility. However, there are no doors, so you might want to request extra floor towels if you’re staying more than a couple of days. Entry to both the main entrance and rooms is via access codes, not key cards, which is super convenient since you don’t have to worry about losing or carrying a card. The hotel is located right in the Gaslamp District, within walking distance of tons of great food and bars. Surprisingly, it wasn’t nearly as noisy as I expected, given the area’s lively nightlife. If you’re looking for something more unique than a standard chain hotel like the Marriott, The Keating is a great choice stylish, comfortable, and full of character.
1) Parking can be a bit of a challenge like most places in downtown, there’s no on-site parking, but several paid parking structures nearby make it manageable. 2) The elevator is quite slow, but it’s part of the building’s old world charm. I heard it’s one of the few remaining steam powered elevators in the area, which makes it a unique piece of history worth experiencing.

Large bedroom (larger than usual) with nice shower, walking distance to the convention center, plenty of restaurants around, staff at the reception (Oscar) was very friendly and did all he could to make it a good stay
It is right across from bars on 5th, and they even provide earplugs (nice but unfortunate), so you can only hope to get or move to a room on the 4th or 5th floors. There was no daily housekeeping, so the hotel ends up feeling like an Airbnb; there are no amenities other than a vending machine. The furnishing is very industrial, so it doesn’t have a cozy feel.

Stayed here for almost a week for a conference in town and wanted to not pay too much. I felt compelled to write this review because there are a fair few negative reviews online and I understand the hotel appeared on Ramsey's Hotel Hell some years ago... however, my experience was top notch. Of course it isn't the Ritz but it is brilliant value for money. The staff are lovely, the rooms have a certain charm in how eccentric they are. The shower was quality and everyone couldn't do enough for me during the stay. Cannot speak highly enough of the place, it is neatly tucked into the main area of town but is secure and about half the price of everywhere else. My room was very spacious, great bed, shower, two sinks, toilet and desk, was just what I needed and the wifi was also good. Netflix and many other channels already logged in. Don't believe all you read with the negative reviews of this place. If you can deal with basic but good quality then this is a good spot.
Nothing, all good. Noise perhaps a little loud on the weekend at night but I think this would be the same anywhere you stay.

The room was very big and spacious. The location was very ideal. There were several shops in the area if you need food. There are also supermarkets nearby. It was just walking distance from the conference venue and I enjoyed walking in the neighborhood. The staff were very nice and helpful. They will help you out if there is anything you need and would also recommend places to eat at.
The arrangement/layout of the room was a bit weird since there was no door to the shower which was located at the corner of the room. It felt like a bed was placed in the middle of the bathroom. The shelves were not the regular design that I found it hard to use. But that is only if I'm being picky. Otherwise, my stay was pleasant.

Beautiful, unique hotel with incredible staff -- kind and helpful -- located centrally in the Gaslamp Quarter. A short walk to the Convention Center, surrounded by great places to eat. The hotel also offers almost half-price deals on the Horton Parking Garage, which is a lifesaver.
Fifth street is a loud nightmare, teeming with hostile drunks, 365 nights a year. Keating does its best to mitigate this with thick windows and a chill vibe, but it can only do so much.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful! They really went above and beyond to make the stay as wonderful as possible. The location of the hotel is really good and a 15minutes walking distance to the convention center.
The Junior Suites are very small (smaller than the pictures on booking) and the general smell of the hotel is a bit musty. No kitchen / microwave or utensils in the room, it's in a shared communal space. The toilet was very old.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The check-in process was smooth and well-organized. The location in the Gaslamp Quarter was ideal - right in the heart of San Diego, with numerous restaurants and entertainment options nearby. The room itself was comfortable and clean, and the provided WiFi worked well throughout my stay. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and would definitely stay here again. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a hassle-free stay in downtown San Diego!

The hotel was old but very well maintained and clean. The staff was nice and friendly. The location is perfect. I would love to stay there again when I have another chance to visit San Diego.
There is another hotel called the Keating Hotel at 815 F St, San Diego, and Google map tried to direct me to that one several times. So a clear guidance of distinguish would be helpful.
