Love the location…and been coming here for 20 years…like home.

Make sure you ask for room AWAY from elevators…they are old and rumbly.

Great location right next to Union Square. Easy for the Bart from the airport and really close to the cable car turn around for Powell/Hyde famous route. Staff very helpful. Room really clean and big comfy bed. Ask for a north facing high floor room for great views.

Only thing was no coffee making facilities in the room. The room info did say to go to floors 9 or 11 for morning coffee but I found that there was just a stand in reception.

Ended up on our arrival night in San Francisco walking the streets looking for a hotel after a mix up with the hotel we had originally booked . Found the Kensington Park which is a little gem and a holiday saver for us 😀The staff are so helpful nothing to much trouble, the rooms are beautiful, large, comfortable and clean. The hotel is so central to everything-walking distance to all transport options, restaurants, Union Square and also has its own Theatre on the 2nd floor. We stayed here for 6 nights and could not of wished for a better place. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality 😀😀

There is nothing negative to say about this hotel

The historic feel of this place is much more interesting than any modernized chain hotel. The bed and the room were plenty comfortable, and the location was great, right across from Union Square and an easy walk to Market Street or China Town. Not too noisy to leave the window open in the evening and hear the occasional cable car bell!

There were stops bolted on the window preventing it from being opened more than about 3 inches. This was pretty annoying, since it limited the amount of airflow into the room to cool it off in the evening. I didn't need air conditioning; just let me open the window more. No breakfast offered, but at least there were two cafe options right next door.

This was without doubt the friendliest hotel we've stayed in, in California over 3 weeks. The room was great, great bed, good size shower, walk-in wardrobe (had a superior room). Decor was classic chic - not modern - and we loved it!! Special mention to Jo (Jojit) on front desk for his happy helpful approach at all times. But his colleagues Thai, Quin and Manfred were also always smiling and helpful. Last mention goes to Victoria who should be congratulated on managing such a great team!!

There was nothing we didn't like. Hotel had no breakfast service, but we knew that when we booked. A hotel 100yrs old will have some quirks, but honestly, they were part of the charm of this place and it's location by Union Square and one of the tram lines and Bart made it ideal!!

Very lovely vintage hotel! Staff were good, rooms were spacious and nice.

I didn't realize there was no AC but luckily I always bring my own mini fan since I get hot easily. Also the nights were cool enough for the window to be open and there is an overhead fan present. I just wish the windows had a screen on it, and the fan made noise when it's on so that was a little bothersome. Also I wish there was another trashcan in the room itself (there was only a recycle bin in the room and then a small trashcan in the bathroom).

We booked the hotel for our moms that came to visit, they are regular at the hotel and greatly enjoy their stays :) What makes their stay truly exceptional is the kindness and attentiveness of the staff - they are always there to help and do so warmly and with a smile :) Special thanks to Manfred, David Iwamoto and Gen - really appreciate all your kind help :) Needless to say, our moms are looking forward to their next stay :)

The location of the hotel was good, near the cable car, bus stop and BART to LAX. The beds were comfortable. The area outside the hotel seemed safe. There were a few good small eateries nearby

The original room we were allocated had loud noises coming from the pipes in the bathroom, which would have been unbearable and it was really small, so we didn’t have much room to put our luggage. When I advised reception they were quick to move us to another room which was quiet and a bit larger so we had ample room.

I loved the great location, cleanliness and general staff attentiveness. Also, cookies and coffee/tea are free in the morning in the lobby which was a nice surprise. A nice touch are the elevators which are super cool.

Our room was not cleaned during our stay and we had to ask for towels change in the afternoon. Also, the sink in our room was very low, our daughter was very pleased, but for adults it was a bit weird.

The check in experience was like Fawlty Towers but we grew to love the quirky Kensington and the super lovely team there. Brilliant location.

The check in experience might need some work - we had to move from our first room due to a party happening in the suite next door - we were initially told it would be ok as they were ‘business men’ 😂😂 room we moved to was lovely but only available for one night so we moved again - the guys were really helpful.
