Perfect location. Right in the heart of SB. So we could walk everywhere. Great for the beach, shopping, restaurants and looking around. Loved the pool area on the roof. Really lovely. The room was very big and beds very comfortable.
It’s a bit annoying having the pool opposite the street from the main hotel but it was lovely. The pool staff seemed to throw away our hoodies that were in a plastic bag. The reception staff weren’t very helpful in trying to locate them so that’s a bit of a shame.

As hoteliers/restaurateurs, we have a different and sometimes stricter perspective than others. I can only congratulate the hotelier here. We had room 320 and were completely satisfied. What a great room and the service was always unobtrusively nice and courteous. We have traveled halfway around the world but rarely have we stayed in such a great hotel. Congratulations! As there was not a hair in the soup to be found, we can wholeheartedly give a full score here...🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

My stay at the Hotel Californian was excellent. The hotel is right in the center of Santa Barbara, so it's easy to go shopping or see the sights. The hotel looks really nice, with a mix of old and new styles. My room was very clean, cozy, and had everything I needed. Every little detail made me feel special and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They always made sure I was okay and helped me with anything I needed. They were very kind and made me feel welcome. In short, my stay at Hotel Californian was a great experience. I recommend it to everyone visiting Santa Barbara.

Location is excellent, near the beach and a number of great restaurants nearby. Room service food was the best I've ever had! The rooftop pool and hottub were amazing. We spent most of our time there and loved every minute of it! Our room was spacious and very quiet.
Our room had minor damage on the furniture and cabinets, like a dog had chewed on things and they hadn't been fixed. The beds were too soft for our taste, but that seems to be a luxury thing in most hotels. The hotel is REALLY expensive and there is no option for parking except valet which was more $ than advertised.

loved the Californian - honestly came from Santa Monica to Santa Barbara it was like a breath of fresh air !! chalk and cheese - anyway great hotel - good food nearby - great everything ! will come again !
Sad but true - the windows in my room were overdue a clean ! But do not let that out you off !!

like all the hotels in these types of locations California the cost of the valet parking (only option) is ridiculous when you think about how much you’re paying for a room!

Differing venues were available for breakfast which if you hadn’t booked in advance you would queue with non-residents to secure a table which I found slightly surprising giving the room rate.
Clearer guidance on arrival - Reception seemed to be keener on explaining the charge to be taken from my card for additional charges rather than taking time to explain the facilities and options for dining, bar and breakfast. A simple map would be useful given the hotel is multi-site.

The location is great (2 minutes to the beach and pier), the rooms are spacious, the design of the hotel & rooms is wonderful, the bathroom is really luxurious and our room was really quiet.
The staff at the reception was friendly but not really helpful. We had to change rooms and waited hours for our new room to be ready.
