Check in time at a normal hotel is 3 o'clock we did get a check in a little after 3 in A-line of about 10 people also was told that it's Check in. normally 4 o'clock. There was a lot of people in line there at that time and we're very upset it wasn't that bad because we kind of knew what they expect but I would think that would be a better process to get people checked in one couple said they had to wait in line for an hour

I said it all on the last one check in could be a lot better for everybody especially the staff they seemed like they were very overwhelmed with not enough help.

Absolutely loved the location. Beach front for a great price.

We had an updated room, which was great. It was clean, modern, and had all the amenities. However when we looked at the photos we were expecting an older room with lots of charm, so it was different from what we expected. Next time we stay I will ask for an older room with charm.

Great location! We got the handicap accessible room (both of us are not differently abled) but it was spacious and wonderful. We stayed in the main house by the front office.

The main house (connected to the front office) was a little noisy. I slept okay but my boyfriend said the people above us were loud. However, I loved the ocean view and how it was steps away from everything!

We stayed two nights. Great oceanfront location with a nice sitting area near the check-in with a firepit, we enjoyed having our coffee there and people-watching. Probably the best location in Santa Cruz to take it all in. Room had fridge and microwave and good Costco Kirkland coffee pods. Very comfortable mattress. Large room with large bathroom and shower. Staff were wonderful.

Unfortunately the Casablanca needs some love. It's quite run-down. Fresh paint throughout the property would make a huge difference. It's too bad because the layout, location and rooms are very good. Signs of neglect are everywhere. Maybe the upscale resort being built next door will spur the owners to make the investment.

Location and staff were excellent. We were allowed to check in four hours early- so helpful. The patio overlooking the ocean was perfect- nice chairs and table, loved the fire. We had wine and appetizers as the sun set.

Our room was large and quiet and clean, but not inviting at all. The few pieces of furniture that were in our room were cheap and shabby. A chair and small table would be convenient. Breakfast was bad- needs MUCH improvement. Refilling the coffee flasks (empty at 9am) and a big plate of pastries from a local bakery would make a huge difference. A good cup of coffee and a fresh pastry would make a world of difference. Lastly- we lost an iPad and called to ask if it was found . Three tries over two days but no return call, ever.

I liked that it was walking distance to the boardwalk

Close to the beach, boardwalk, and wharf. Hardwood floors in the rooms. Historic building with good use of the space.

Queen bed was narrow for two adults to share. No phone in the room made it difficult to call the front desk when we had issues with another guest.

The location is great. The room was nice, large frig, balcony with “partial” ocean view but it was a good view of the ocean. We ate our lunch on their outside deck overlooking the volleyball courts with views of the ocean.

Went to check in and there was a “closed until 3:30” sign 😩. We drove a long distance and needed to use the restroom but you needed a code and there wasn’t anyone there to give it to us.🥴 When they “opened up” there were 6 guests in front of me waiting to check in so it took a long time. Limited Parking spaces in the main hotel area and I had to sign that I acknowledged that cars get broken into😵‍💫 Major construction project across the street with a lot of noise. The room description that I booked said “ocean view” but we were given a “partial ocean view”, it was still good though.😎

I loved the staff who are super helpful (only got to talk to the emergency staff after hours) and the modern room! Modern, classy room and lovely bed. The balcony was great to have and they have super nice showers too! I basked in the water for quite some time and relaxed so well 🥰

The lack of in person 24hr staffing in the office. What if the keys left in the Dropbox don’t work or the Dropbox is not functioning when I arrive after staffed hours? Having to bother someone with a phone call and make them come help late at night would really suck to do and it can be scary sometimes to just sit in a parking lot at night waiting if you’re a woman traveling alone. To be clear, my stay was perfect, the Dropbox and keys worked, and the staff on the after hours line was so helpful when I was confused about checkout before the office opens in the morning!

amazing location with a beautiful unobstructed view of the ocean right across the street. rooms 101-106 are as close as you can get to the beach and have a great balcony to sit in the sun and watch people stroll by or listen to the waves crashing at night. the room was cheaper than most other places nearby too. the room is basic but clean and seemed recently updated. the staff was so super nice.

pillows were terrible. street noise was loud in the morning but there is major construction going on next door with lots of big trucks in and out so that was probably the source of a lot of the noise
