The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The weather outside was cold but the room was well heated with plenty of blankets. The location was excellent with easy access to restaurants and right across the street from the lake. This is in Tahoe City with quick and easy access from Truckee, both driving and by the Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit free bus.
Hotels at Lake Tahoe are expensive. This hotel offered in-room coffee and tea with a kettle. That's it. However, it cost twice as much as the hotel I had in Reno which had full services and pools. But, that's just how it is at Lake Tahoe!

I loved how chic the hotel/motel was. you can tell that it was an old motel but they dressed it up to be more modern. the staff was amazing and helped us with any questions we had and also gave some recommendations on local places to visit. what was unique was the fire pits they had for people to sit in. even though we didn’t use them it was a nice touch. we had trouble getting into the drive way due to something out of their control. this was due to construction and the staff took action right away ensuring we were able to pull our car in the drive way within the hours. such a great place to stay if you’re looking for a great value and some place modern.
nothing.

It is located in a good location near most everything in Tahoe City. You can ride your bikes from there along the Truckee River to Palisades Tahoe, or other bike trails, and walk along the marina and a beach area with great views and several restaurants.. We were able to walk to all the restaurants and shops located in the downtown area and there is a Safeway store across the street, and of course Lake Tahoe. They have a lobby with some tables and couches, a fireplace, and a bar area with a happy hour and some beers on tap, and coffee and tea also, and snacks and drinks for sale too. The front desk is very friendly, and helpful too. There are 2 outside fire pits which are lit at night and they sell samores if you want to have some. The parking is free too. It was quiet a night and the bed was comfortable. The heater works well and the room has a frig and 2 coolers you can use.
Really the only thing is the carpets are a bit old with a few marks but they are clean. Breakfast is not included but we brought our own pastries and we ate them in the lobby and enjoyed that with their provided coffee or tea. There are walkable breakfast places and coffee shops too.

This was an overnight stay as part of a three week road trip across the country. Prior to this we had stopped at various 2 and 3 star chain hotels - we wish all of them had been as good as Basecamp Tahoe City. The girl on reception and running the bar was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the local area, and was happy to chat with us about our trip. The reception area was superb, as was the outdoor space with fire pits. We enjoyed a very welcome relaxing evening. The room was clean and very comfortable. Would happily stay again.

Very welcoming and cozy, I loved being close to the lake and restaurants, all in walking distance. The fire pits were so nice to chill by just before bed.
Our room was a bit crowded with two beds, they didn’t have a king bed available, which I think would have been a better fit for the size of the room. Also the desk lighting needs something more functional for working at the desk, the lantern style light was a bit blinding for work, but it was cute.

Location of Basecamp is great! It’s within walking distance to all of the best restaurants in Tahoe City. The staff is very friendly and very helpful with suggestions about where to go and what to do. We loved the deck with a fire pit in the evenings. It was so nice to sit around the fire with a glass of wine and go over our day before heading to bed.
The bed could have been more comfortable. I think with the price of memory foam mattresses now being around $400-$500 - it would be easy enough to replace the old mattresses in this hotel.

Room was clean, bed was comfortable, view was nice. Sound insulation seemed good, my room was near the outdoor sitting area but I was not bothered by the other guests taking advantage of the fire pit.
No coffee in the room, and the coffee in the lobby wasn't ready until about 8:30am. There was an electric kettle and a couple of tea bags in the room, luckily I had some instant coffee with me. Check in at 4pm seems a bit late.

The staff was great and I loved the art work on the walls that exhibited the outdoor adventures. The humor for the artwork was great, too. The only two items I would suggest is to have smaller pillows. Next time I will bring my own pillow. Also, I tried that coffee maker and using that dipping tea like bag didn't work. The coffee looked like tea, so I went across the street to that breakfast place and ordered a dark roast. I love the little bar in front and the lady who filled a plastic bag of ice was very fun to listen to. I will go back there again! Thank you!

The location was great for downtown Tahoe City. It's not far from Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort. Parking right in front of the room. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The hot water was immediate in the shower and sink, so no wasting water waiting for it to heat up.
There was a fan issue in the bathroom. Had to keep trying to make it go on with the wall switch. Too cold to open the window in the bathroom.

Michael in the reception area was incredibly informative, friendly, and helpful. He was able to direct us to the perfect places in town to check out and was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife too! They were very accommodating and made our stay really enjoyable! As for the location, it is perfect. Great walking access to local shops, pharmacy, and grocery store. Will definitely be booking again next time we come to Tahoe!
