Our family suite was spotless and stocked with water, breakfast bars and snacks. We dined in the Great Hall and were more than surprised by the quality and presentation of the cuisine. Given the theme of the property, I expected food on par with many of the theme restaurants in NYC. It certainly exceeded our expectations. Scallops were cooked perfectly, beef was tender and flavorful, and the lobster Mac and cheese was a home run. Hats off to the chef for providing a gourmet experience in an unexpected location. Our waiter, Jorge, was attentive to our every need and certainly made the experience a delight.
Some thumping in the ceiling, that we attributed to the hot water system, was heard while we slept. Given the age of the property, I guess it’s to be expected.

Excellent staff, extremely clean and neat. Beautiful atmosphere. Seemed very private and like home. It's very pretty and the great majority of it's ambiance is accurate to it's era. Kid's will love it. Easy parking. Nice lighting. It's like an extra large, interesting B&B. We're definitely staying there again. I assume in summer, the Castle caters to the Saratoga track crowd, and good for them being able to make money in a small town. In winter, the price was two thirds less. What a treat. We booked a night we didn't even use and the cost was so low we didn't worry about trying for a refund through our booking site. We live hours away but have family and friends in the area. We plan to look into hosting a family & friends dinner here in the near future.

Love everything at this Castle - absolutely beautiful! The architect is breathtaking. As soon as you come in through the doors and listening to the music playing, it was very welcoming and intriguing at the same time. Will definitely go back!
Food and drinks appear to be inaccessible at the Castle. The bar wasn't open and breakfast is not included. Unfortunately, there is no coffee shop or bakery in the area that was open or available, which made us drive further for a breakfast meal.

It was truly a cute and romantic stay. The ambiance when we entered the castle blew our minds because of how they played into the whole castle/mansion theme (despite being an old armory). I stayed here with my partner for one night during Valentine's day weekend, and the bed was so comfortable we didn't want to leave! It was easy to access right off the Thruway and the check-in and check-out was quick and simple. For the price of the stay, it was well worth it and we would stay here again when traveling through or in that area. Definitely would recommend!

Unique facility and decor. Staff is very friendly. Room was super clean and amenities in it were great ( plush towels, 2 sinks, comfy chairs, etc). Would have preferred a 2nd floor room, but they put us on the 1st floor looking at the parking lot because we had a service dog with us.
Just the room placement as mentioned above. Finding a place to eat in Amsterdam is pretty difficult. Three nearby places were closed on a Tuesday night and the Star Cafe was horrendous for breakfast!

OK, it's not a "real"castle;, It's a former Armory with the distinct appearance of a castle sitting on a hill on the exterior. But on the interior there has been a tremendous effort to create the atmosphere of a castle, and it is a remarkable place that is certainly worth the visit. The room was very nice, quiet, and comfortable. It is a unique place and has a storied history that you will appreciate, and a beautiful restoration that the reflects the grandeur of bygone years.
Our only disappointment was that we were unable to coordinate a time to visit that allowed for dinning experience that appears to be as grand as the place itself. However, good news....Lorenzo's is a great Italian restaurant just a block away, and there are others close by, so we still had a wonderful experience.

This is truly a unique place to stay the night. My husband and I stayed here on a bike tour down the Erie Canal and upon getting off the bike path, you have to climb a hill to this ACTUAL castle that is an old armory. The checkin staff was great and let us park our bikes in the garage, and sold us some beers to help soothe our sore knees. Room was spacious and the bed/pillows were really comfortable. No breakfast served in the hall, but they provided a Keurig, fridge, and microwave with breakfast in-room that worked quite well.
The neighborhood leaves something to be desired, but it's no reflection on the Castle.

The building is incredible and the rooms, well appointed and unique. It was exceedingly comfortable and spacious, with a lavish bathroom and lots of cupboards. The history of the place is what drew us and we enjoyed looking around the rooms and enjoyed the art. The dinner was excellent and the staff were professional and courteous.
The type of person that is attracted to a castle/fort is someone who has an interest in history, so the kitsch decorations: resin gargoyles, teenage gothic decorations, gold paper frames around old master prints - diminished the experience enormously. We also received several emails saying not to leave valuables in our car, or room, so that was quite alarming.

Nicely decorated. It’s an old armory but they did it very nice inside. President Kennedy even visited once.
Air conditioning. There was a sign on the thermostat saying that the temperature must stay at 68 degrees with auto fan or the system would freeze up and not work? The 1st night was to hot. The 2nd I put the fan on and it felt a little better. 68 degrees is not air conditioning.

The castle was fascinating, the rooms were huge, the bathtub was deep and comfortable, the water hot, the mattress, pillows were comfortable snd those bedspreads were phenomenal. Our grandson ask if we could take them home. lol. a small town but the restaurant we went to was great, right down the street, Lorenzo’s. We had just been to Niagara Falls, Canada, on our way to Cooperstown and thought it’d be fun to stay the night at the castle. it was well worth it, worth every dollar. Thank you.
I can’t think of anything. my grandson would say, he couldn’t buy a candy bar, no snacks. That was fine with Gma and Gpa.
