Right as we arrived the owner greeted us with a warm welcome. He even took us up with three manual elevator. It definitely looked like he puts a lot of care into making the inn a gathering place - there were dancing lessons in the ballroom. The room was big and very clean. The beds were super comfy. The environment was quiet. It’s neat to sleep in a historical place. The breakfast is definitely not a grab and go but more like a proper little breakfast with English muffins, bagels, coffee, juice, fruits… etc all set up in a nice dining room.

Everything around it closes at 8pm. Hard to get a bite to eat if you just come off the road. But that’s not because of the property itself, it’s just a little sleepy town.

We were visiting for a graduation and we are happy we stayed at Brandon, a 15-20 minute drive to Middlebury College. The hotel is sort of “old world” charming, but not updated. The staff is polite and attentive if needed. The first floor spaces were open and a pleasure to be around. The elevator needed a staff person to operate and although we were on the 4th floor we were traveling light and did not use the elevator. Our room was a good size and we enjoyed it. We did not use the pool area. Overall a nice stay. If we were in the area, we would probably use it again.

Everything was as expected.

It was an old hotel with a lot of the original woodwork etc. Very cool. Slightly modernized-WiFi, USB, door lock-that was helpful. Room was clean and beds comfortable. It had a very good and simple continental breakfast- fruit, yogurt(excellent), muffins. Good location in downtown Brandon. Walking distance to a breakfast spot(eggs, pancakes, etc) and a good pub. Also nearby was a supermarket and drugstore. I could easily stay here a few days to explore the area. Also close to to Middlebury, Killington, Rutland, state parks, hiking. We enjoyed our stay.

Bathroom was small(it’s an antique building that predated plumbing and electricity). Limited elevator(another antique that was cool but needed some work).

I liked the charming older-hotel atmosphere, the town itself. And the staff was REALLY nice and responsive to requests. The small refridge was great, and the location (near market and stores) meant things were within easy reach.

Main problems: low water pressure in toilet. Lighting in the room was a bit dim. There wasn't a truly usable desk in the room, it should have been there I think. However, I requested a straight chair (came promptly) and used a small side table as a desk. Also the elevator was a bit scary, so I didn't use it.

I love old hotels and like supporting historic hotels. The rooms were nice, beds comfortable and was in a great little town with lots to see. The have kept all of the ambience of an old hotel. They are pet friendly at this time, but I think that they may be rethinking this. Best to ask first

I don't think they have enough staff. One of the drawbacks to this hotel is that it his one elevator that requires an operator. I believe that we were on the 4th floor and don't do well hauling bags up 4 flights of stairs. Luckily there was someone there to operate the elevator. We didn't go out that night and I am not really sure of the hours that someone was available to operate the elevators. If you are older and have problems with stairs might want to check what other options they have

Very cute, period Inn that you can tell is truly from another era. The architecture and décor felt like you were stepping back in time, The rooms and bathroom were good sized and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We were told by the staff that the sit-down, order off the menu restaurant was new for the Inn. Before, they used to just serve a buffet style breakfast and catered events. The food was good.

I get it, this is an old-style Inn, but was hoping for a few of the normal amenities found in most hotels. There was no fridge in the room and no iron or ironing board. Several of the electrical outlets didn't work, including the outlet in the bathroom. The mattresses were very firm, too firm for our tastes. I find they are typically softer in most hotels. The décor in the restaurant was a bit spartan and you can tell they are still getting the hang of sit-down menu service.

The inn was beautiful. Old with grand decor. Lots of antiques. Staff was wonderful. Very helpful and informative. Location was perfect in the center of downtown. We loved walking downtown and visiting the outdoor market

We are senior citizens and it was a little hard managing steps. While the bathroom was gorgeous you had to step up to the toilet and tub. There was no “shower” just a hand held sprayer. We were on the 3rd floor and the elevator was old and iffy at best

We had very nice made to order breakfast sandwiches at the Neshobe Cafe. The location of the inn is EXCELLENT!, just a few miles north of Rutland where we attended the Dionne Warwick concert. We felt like we were staying in a guest room in a stately old home. Our room was spotlessly clean, the beds were confortable, and the inn was quiet. Both of us slept better than we usually do. We liked the large well heated bathroom and the walk in closet.

What's not to like? The only suggestion I would make would be with Wifi security. We noticed that there was a password for the inn's Wifi system, when in reality, guest Wifi was on an unsecured network. This is not an issue for me personally, because I use a VPN.

Lovely historical inn within walking distance of everything in the cute town of Brandon. Enjoyed the neighborhood. The bed, with its firm mattress, was comfortable. The curtains were sufficient. The staff seemed lovely. If you are a hiker, I recommend the Silver Lake trail, only about 15 minutes from the Inn.

I really missed having a fridge, microwave, and kettle. It would have been great if there was even a community kitchen with those items. There was only coffee in the lobby and tea would have been a great option too. Breakfast was only okay. No non-dairy milk and few options for vegans. The floors were incredibly creeky, and I was grateful to be on the top floor.

I love the historic value of the building and surprisingly was maintained beautifully. If your staying in town it had photography value. The elevator was a good experience and the staff was super friendly. There is not A/C, but ask the front desk they install one in the window for you. You can see and feel the age of the build which I felt was special experience for me and my family to feel a part of history. There are towns near by for you to visit and about an hour away from Burlington I believe. Many natural and historic sights to visit. The owner did a great job in maintaining and improving the hotel and I would love to stay again.

Only thing for me was just breakfast is not too great and could be improved. This does not take away from my stay experience and I felt was a minor issue.
