The River Inn is an excellent hotel in the pretty streets around the University area of Washington. The staff are very friendly and helpful - anything we asked for, we got with a smile. Our room had a full kitchen, dressing area, sofa and lots of room, draws, hanging space etc. It's a few minute's walk to the Metro at Foggy Bottom. Nearby (turn right then left) there is Circa restaurant and bar, and a fantastic Wholefoods store (don't be put off by the name if you're from the UK, it's not "Wholefoods" like that) that sell every kind of fresh and prepared food, plus toiletries etc, so you can self-cater. There is a restaurant Madera at the hotel serving breakfast and dinner (Lovely staff, thanks a lot). We had breakfast there twice; we found Washington very expensive but the food quality was always great. You can walk to GeorgeTown (Recommended) and the Potomac from the hotel. A note: you can take the Metro from the airport now; the Silver Line will take you to Foggy Bottom ($6.75 for single trip) takes 45 mins and is just excellent. Buy a SmarTrip card then top it up when you need it (most Metro Journeys are just $2.25). You can also visit Arlington on the Metro. Other musts: Dumbarton Oaks, every Museum on the Smithsonia route, The American Indian Museum, African American Museum, Botanical Gardens and the Kreeger Museum. A fantastic holiday, thanks to everyone who made it so special.
This is NOT a complaint! There aren't a lot of restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, but if you don't mind walking or taking the Metro or a taxi, you'll be OK. Old Ebbit's, Founding Farmers and Fifty Vines are all fun

Cleanness, request base (?) room cleaning, well equipped kitchenette 2 super makers within 5 minutes walking distance, bus top and metro station are too. Free water servers are placed at 3/6F ! A few staffs were friendly in any time.
Dishes are minimum in default. # guests can request several goods from the list in QR code. Noise of the air conditioning was a bit noisy as already commented. Less AC outlets near the working desk, but several exist in the room. The alarm clock at the bed side cannot be controlled the time, no instruction. The shower output was very weak and almost only hot water, even after the check by the hotel side. Its lower tap worked well, although.

Perfect location from which to explore DC either by foot or metro which was a few mins walk away. Exceptional customer service. Good size room - comfortable and spotless, with sofa, seating for in-room dining, large desk to work at, TV, alarm clock, nice size bathroom, good shower with large rainshower head, well-stocked kitchenette (large fridge with ice, hob, microwave, coffee machine, toaster, cooking equipment and utensils, plates, bowls, cutlery, mugs and glasses, salt and pepper and additional items on request). Excellent Whole Foods Market 5 mins walk away, so could stock up if we didn't want to eat out. Decent small fitness centre. Nice restaurant - Matera, had a good, buzzy atmosphere and tasty food. Would definitely stay at the River Inn again and would highly recommend it.

I was at the River Inn for 11 nights to visit friends and explore museums more than I ever had before. For a longer stay like that, it is so nice to have extra space and the room I had was very large with the kitchenette, couch and so on - room to spread out. The bed and pillow were comfortable, the staff was friendly, always and helpful, and the hotel is only about three short blocks from the Foggy Bottom/GWU metro stop, making much of Washington easily accessible. It was also very nice to have the attached restaurant on the main floor for a quick dinner or drinks with a friend. Very safe, pretty neighborhood, as well. I will certainly stay here again the next time I come to Washington.

The River Inn is a perfect position to visit Washington DC. The hotel is really close to Metro Stop Foggy Bottom GWU, less than 5 minutes walk. Within 15 minutes you can reach The White House (behind). The personnel of the hotel is really nice, very supportive and friendly. The most outstanding part of the hotel are the rooms that are refurbished with a full equipped kitchen. I always had breakfast like home as nearby, within 5 minutes walk there are Trader's Joe and Whole Food Supermarkets. The area is really calm for a perfect night sleep. The hotel includes a laundry and a fitness room. I have really enjoyed the dinner at the restaurant of the Hotel (Restaurant Matera). The quality of food served is really good and dishes are yummy. This is surely a place I will not hesitate to return in the next future.

Excellent helpful and friendly staff. Great location, never waited more than 3 or 4 minutes for an Uber or taxi. It was only about a 10 minute drive to the museums on the mall. Two to three block walk to Trader Joe's and other restaurants. We felt safe walking around in the neighborhood. We really appreciated the big safe where for once we could fit all of our valuables including my 15" laptop. Nicely appointed efficiency kitchen with even fresh ice cubes in freezer and full size fridge. Comfortable furniture, good sized desk, good security. Also, large dining room table so we both had a place to work at our computers. TV's in living and bedroom.
Slippery bathtub needs a tub mat available in the room. A couple of minor problems were addressed immediately and to our satisfaction.

Size and comfort of suite was great!
We asked for maid service every day and came back from sightseeing one day and room was not cleaned. Called front desk and told someone would be right up to clean and we waited over an hour. Another time I called to ask for an extra blanket and waited 1.5 hours and had to call back to say no one has brought it. I don't know if the hotel is short of staff or if the person at the front desk did not contact people in a timely matter, but the of staff and service was not acceptable. Also, we called the hotel to say that we would not be arriving until 9pm and was put on hold for 10 minutes, hung up and called back.

Loved the River Inn. Very clean and comfortable with friendly staff who were always happy to help and advise. The hotel may be a little dated in places, but this in no way detracted from our stay. We stayed here for 5 nights and found the all-suite bedrooms to be large with a well-equipped kitchen which was fine for breakfast and simple meals. There is also a small gym and small laundry room. Perfectly located on a quiet street in Foggy Bottom, the hotel is a 10/15 minute walk from George Town and maybe 20/25 minutes to the National Mall. It is also a short 5 minute walk to the nearest Metro station (Foggy Bottom) which sits on the silver, blue and orange lines, giving easy access to the city centre, Dulles Airport and Arlington.
Can't really think of anything we didn't like about the hotel. It met all our requirements and was a great place to return to at the end of a busy day taking in the sights.

This accommodation truly feels like a home away from home. The warm and friendly atmosphere, combined with a spacious room equipped with a small kitchen for basic needs, made my stay incredibly comfortable. Its convenient proximity to the metro was an added bonus. If I ever return to Washington DC, this will undoubtedly be my first choice without considering any other options.
The heater in my room was not functioning properly, but I was provided with a portable one that was sufficient for warming the room.

More or less everything. Our welcome by Jack was excellent. And during our stay the whole team were friendly, approachable and able to answer most of our questions. The room was a very good size with a well equipped kitchen. The hotel provided a rubber mat for the bathroom and a kettle for the kitchen when requested. A few more electric sockets in the kitchen would be desirable, but we managed. Housekeeping did a good job cleaning our room. The bar restaurant was enjoyable for drinks and meals. I'm afraid prices everywhere are quite expensive but the service and staff were very good. We had a complimentary extension of the checkout time which was very helpful. The location is excellent. Foggy Bottom is a lovely quiet leafy suburb with a metro, grocery store, bus stops and a nice bar, Circa, all nearby. Personal safety and security were never an issue. Kennedy Centre 10 minutes walk; Georgetown 15 minutes walk or a short bus ride. Good access by metro and bus to all the key sites.
Nothing.
