The location is excellent- so easy to walk in to the CBD and connect to transport in different directions. The room we had was very comfortable and on the corner, so with nice big windows for fresh air yet private on the 3rd floor with large trees as the view. The shared facilities were kept clean - they need maintenance with no door handle on the shower and one bathroom not having a working lock. With some immediate attention these small things will make a big difference. Likewise with offering basics like shower gel which I would expect for the price. The shared kitchenette is great for basic sandwich prep or heat and eat style. It worked well for us if you don’t want to be eating out the entire time. I was able to do washing which was a very big plus when you’re on the road traveling. The self service was excellent and appreciated!
Atleast once during our 4 day stay there should have been a room ‘refresh’ clean. It felt more like a small boarding house style operation so although that worked well for us being independent, if you are used to more hotel based shared facilities and concierge then it won’t be for you. The price difference vs. conventional hotels reflects this though and offers a more affordable comfortable option with a great location;

We found the location to be quiet considering the city address. It was clean, the beds was comfortable and it had a basic kitchen suitable to make your own tea and coffee and heat up a simple meal in the microwave plus a good size fridge with cutlery, crockery etc. the tap over the sink needs attending too however. It had 2 shared bathrooms down the hallway which were clean and functioned well. Plus one separate toilet and another in one of the bathrooms.
Sometimes you could hear noise down on the lower level coming from the beer garden and out door eating area. We were there on a Thursday night so it was not too bad but I imagine Friday and Saturday could be quite busy and noisy. I had a grilled tuna salad at lunchtime and my tuna was undercooked. I had to leave some of it uneaten. It does not have air conditioning so I imagine it would be hot in Summer. However, there is a ceiling fan which helps keep the room cool enough to sleep.

Comfy room. Fan was fantastic on a humid weekend. Bedroom was clean and tidy, bathroom could have been better cleaned. Staff helpful, friendly, efficient. Complimentary arrival drink nice touch. Had dinner in the pub one night, Excellent size-portions, value for money. No noise from pub coming up in to room which was pleasant surprise, (though a couple of other guests did choose to have long, loud conversation in hallway directly outside my door upon arriving back in the wee small hours of the morning). Nice quiet area but very close to everything, easy access to PT.
That I could tell the hair colour of the last person to use the ensuite.

The location is unbelievable. Walking distance to city and harbour. Really close. Lovely quiet and green street. Super nice staff, especially the lady there. She couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful as I got there at 8am, and needed to store my bags. Young bloke in the bar was really helpful too.
Nothing. Onto negative was convenience stores weren’t too close and the ones that were, well they were rubbish. Just buy things first before checking in.

It is perfect for business stays and families too. Very close to venues and very peaceful. Best of all, my flight was cancelled, so I could only arrive the next day. I had booked for 2 nights, but they only charged me for 1 night since I couldn’t make it the first night. This to me shows that this place really CARES about its guests and not so much about how much money they can make. So hats off to you all team for making it work. The chef and his team even made the extra effect to cook one last meal for me as well had come back late from my meeting, now that’s Real right there.
Better communication would have been appreciated. I sent an email asking if it was okay to send some packages before my arrival. but never got a reply. However when I arrived there, my packages were left in my room, so that was nice. Overall very happy stay.

This is a tiny hotel over a pub in a good neighbourhood. We had fairly low expectations. The room was very celan. The bed was very comfortable. We love old places. The people in the pub seemed very nice. They really made us feel welcome at the hotel. The owners are really trying. It's a hundred year old building. It was charming!!!!!!!
I'm old. I need bathroom space to put out my ointments and lotions. All hotels could do a better job. The cruise lines catering to older passengers include a lighted magnifying mirror. Iwould like to see this in all hotels.

The location was great, with an easy walk to the city centre. It was in a nice quiet area as well. It was handy having a restaurant downstairs and the meals were reasonably priced and tasty. Everything tasted fresh. It was a pleasant surprise to find out that we could get 15% off food and drinks at the hotel and the complimentary drink on the day of arrival was a nice touch too.
I don't think there was anything to dislike.

It is a quaint little historic pub with clean but modest accommodation on the 2 floors above - located on a quiet leafy cul-de-sac - lots of character. we stayed a saturday night & it was very quiet. Great for a 1 or 2 night stay whilst travelling. Big windows that you can open wide was really good & had a lovely outlook.
Initially I thought the bed seemed harder that I normally like but I slept well & comfortable with no complaints. The room was basic & had shared bathrooms down the hall but that didn't bother us

ambience and style - true blue Ozzie old hotel with a lovely little pub on the ground floor. Beautiful surroundings - little green patches, benches, gum trees, older houses. Very, very different from glass, steel and concrete 3d mass just few hundred meters away in Darling Harbour surroundings. Great short-cuts to Sydney ICC - making it a very different alternative to your typical international hotel chains for big event participants.
Nothing comes to mind.

I had to attend a yoga conference at the icc which was very close. I liked the quaint homely ambiance especially the breakfast nook where the parrots came to feed on the bottle brush outside the window. This was a real pleasure to sit and relax there looking at the view. I liked the pub downstairs and felt safe as I was travelling on my own. The welcome drink was nice.
I had a lot of trouble sleeping due to the unseasonal heat, but the fan was good
