The location was excellent. The room was very modern, recently renovated, and very clean. The room was very well equipped with facilities, and it included a kitchenette. The room was regularly stocked with a plentiful supply of tea, coffee, milk, and sugar etc. It was good value for money.

I arrived at about 1AM in the morning. The office was closed, but that was as expected. However, it was very dark where the key box was located, and I could not read the button numbers to dial-in my PIN number. I had to use the light from my mobile phone to shed some light on the key box. I strongly suggest that hotel management install a powerful external light above the key box that will brighten up that area of the driveway at night-time.

Capitanos is very well located in Mitchell Street, one of the main streets in Darwin's city centre. The room was clean, well maintained and reasonably quiet. The air-conditioning and fan kept the room habitable in Darwin's hot and humid March climate. The receptionist was friendly. There is a good swimming pool.

There was a strong light outside on the balcony which the window blind did not sufficiently shield. Not a major issue but I would have preferred a darker room at night.

Fridge in room was a godsend as able to freeze water overnight for consumption following day. Good storage for multiple bags (travelling for 6 weeks) and plenty of space to move around. Aircon & fan an absolute must.

Expected to do washing on site but neither of us use a smart device which was required to use machines. Disappointing & very inconvenient. We know it was Darwin but finding the water that came from the cold taps was hotter than that from the hot taps meant we never got a cool shower. Other than that shower was fine. We did not receive a full room service as indicated in the room manual for stays longer than 4 days & had to request replacement tea/coffee/sugar. No securable undersheet on bed inadequate for a tall person. A bottom tuck-in sheet preferable.

It was easy to check in, even though I arrived at 1am. The room was comfortable and clean. I was able to have a bag dropped off for me by a friend a day earlier, and it was in my room waiting for me. It was easy to find and easy walking distance to cafe's in the morning for breakfast.

The only thing I didn't like was that during the night I was a little chilly. I turned off the aircon, but there were no blankets in the room, not even a light blanket in the cupboard. I like to sleep with a something a little heavier than a sheet, more for the weight than warmth, although warmth is important too. That's my only gripe, that I wish there had been a light blanket!

I stayed here on two occasions and had two different rooms. Both were clean and spacious with comfortable beds and good aircon. The kitchenette is practical (fridge, kettle, microwave, toaster, sink) for breakfast or snacks. There is a pool. Staff are great. Good location, just a short walk from the supermarket, restaurants, and pretty Bicentennial Park along the coast. Price is reasonable. All that said, it is an older 2-story concrete/brick building with no lift, and it's feeling its age.

Water pressure in the shower, particularly when I had the upstairs room, was disappointing. Balcony/patio is small.

Capitanos is a motel style accomodation. The rooms appear to have been recently renovated quite stylishly. The room is large with good king sized bed, free WiFi, microwave, and a big fridge. The TV had good selection of entertainment channels. Close to supermarkets, shops, restaurants and bars.

If you have mobility problems make sure you are on the ground floor. The second level is only accessible by stairs. Cook ware, plates and cutlery were minimal but adequate.

Capitanos is great value in a convenient location on the quiet end of Mitchell Street (just a short walk to my favourite brunch place, Kopi Stop) and not too far a walk from the central CBD and down to the waterfront area. The accommodation is basic but had everything I needed. The rooms are actually really well insulated - I was able to turn my fan and aircon off at night without sweltering, which I really appreciated. The pool area is lovely with a really funky water feature made from an old dinghy. After-hours check-in and out was convenient and easy.

The property could possibly invest in higher quality linen - I found the top sheet quite scratchy / irritating for my skin and couldn't use it (luckily there was a light blanket in the cupboard). The mugs in my room hadn't been cleaned properly by previous visitor when they put them away so I had to clean them again myself before use. I had an after-hours check-in which was all pretty smooth except I was asked to pop into reception during opening hours to sign the registration sheet and when I tried to visit reception twice during the day no one was there... I just texted back to explain when I did an early check-out too and that didn't seem to be a problem, but this could probably be improved.

Capitanos is at 97 Mitchell Street, very close to many eateries and Coles supermarket is a 10 minute walk to replenish your supplies. The studio unit upstairs had crockery, cutlery, glasses. kettle, toaster and a sink for washing dishes. There was a large TV with all Foxtel stations and Wifi was available. The huge bed was very comfortable and there was a lovely small pool at the back of the units. Staff were very friendly and helpful which was appreciated. There was always a carpark and Capitanos is securely locked with big gates. The buildup is starting in Darwin so it was hot and a bit humid. Darwin is fabulous to visit and my wife Rose loved the mango smoothies!

The pool was so nice just wish it could have stayed open later as it was so hot. The security gating was good and all the boating decorations were good.

The air conditioner above the door was leaking on the ground directly out side the door and it was slippery ( my sister almost slipped over). The gates that enclosed the units were very inconvenient the fence and gate are to close to the door it was very akward trying to get in and out. Maybe the gate should open out. The time for using the washing machine was a little inconvenent as we were out most days during the usable time. Maybe breakfast could have been offered.

A good, honest, basic 3 star accommodation. Clean and serviceable... fantastic location that's close walking distance to everything you need, but far enough away from the "rowdier" pub area so it was really nice and quiet. Nice pool. Overall terrific as a base to visit the top end, especially if you're really just using the place as a bedroom and are off enjoying Darwin most of the day anyway.
