Accommodation was great, pool was deep and very clean. Pre-dinner drinks with a magnificent view over Oak beach with a cocktail in hand was perfect. Surrounding walks and beaches were beautiful and inspiring.

Lack of seasonal fruit, we were in FNQ but not a pineapple, papaya, banana in sight. We sourced our fruit from the local markets. Portions for dinner were small. Cocktail menu in need of a lift and perhaps a cocktail of the day, or a happy hour to capitalize on that magnificent view. Slightest sign of rain and staff close blinds in the bar area blocking the beautiful view. We ordered Granola for breakfast but Muesli arrived instead with little fresh fruit, contrary to the breakfast menu. Unfortunately we decided to eat out once for dinner and twice for breakfast.

This was an incredibly beautiful and soul-soothing place to stay. The decades of work the owner has put into rehabilitating this area is inspiring. The grounds were gorgeous, the cabin was beautiful (and we had one of the less expensive ones), the bed was comfortable and the staff were amazing. The restaurant was just gorgeous with a beautiful view. We saw some wallabies whilst walking around the property and plenty of what my husband now refers to as "reef chickens" building their mounds. I loved that there was a bit of a breeze there. The property is up a little higher than some areas around there.

Although the restaurant was gorgeous and we enjoyed breakfast and a drink there in the afternoon, the lunch and dinner menu didn't include too many appealing options. We would have loved to eat there more often but struggled to find food that wasn't over-embellished, for want of a better term. Everything seemed to include some weird ingredient. For example there was gnocci, but it had black garlic and onions and some kind of apple sauce, and not much else. Why not just a lovely tomato based sauce, which is how gnocci should be prepared? We were lucky we had a car and could go to Port Douglas to eat. We also self catered a couple of times.

Wow! I read some negative views and shortened my stay based upon they. I regret that. This was such a beautiful place. Waking up in the morning to the sounds of tropical birds was so relaxing. The staff were over the top with their hospitality. I cannot recommend this place more. Do not read the negative reviews. They are simply inaccurate. One was about walking around at night which we enjoyed as it is so beautiful however the staff is always circling in a cart to drive guests around if they do not want to walk.

Having to leave!!

I have been receiving chemo and as a result was feeling so queasy I was unable to eat in the dining room. The lovely chef and other staff members were able to provide some food to our cabin. We were able to enjoy the view from our cabin and make the most of things. Mind you the view from the restaurant was beautiful so go if you can.

The heat got me - but it is tropical Queensland so it was supposed to be warm. I was surprised how cool the cabins were with the shutters open and the air flowing through the room.

we enjoyed the bliss of being accommodated in a forest setting. so many lizards and birds to see, plenty of places to walk, beautiful beaches, rock pools, mangrove’s etc. you could hangout and read a book in a hammock strung up between coconut trees and then drink a coconut rum cocktail out of the coconut by the pool. the restaurant was really cool, it had semi panoramic veiws of the cliffs and mountains falling into the coral sea. great massage. i also liked the cove.

personally i don’t like spiders or anything small moving around in my house, seen or unseen. i was extremely aware we had 3 house geckos in our room the first night. i attempted to catch them, putting 2 outside but they came back in. these ones are actually quite tame and leave you be, but we then got a 10cm or so skink in the room which i could not tolerate, so we spent 30min at 2am trying to catch him. the next day i ripped up many pamplets into strips, folded the strips thick and stuffed the gaps in the window casing( between the casing and the plaster), to stop lizards coming inside. it definately worked as i could hear things trying to get through in the middle of the night, much easier sleep. Thala, please fill all gaps! Nature is great outside haha.

The entire setting of this property was paradise. The setting is lush tropical with a beautiful Sandy beach to enjoy. We had a beautiful swim all to ourselves in the grotto pool with waterfall.

We went out on the 3 kilometer lower nature walk and enjoyed it a lot at first but once we got to the middle of it we found the trail not to be as well maintained so treading through grasses knee high and higher. A few trees were down on the path as well. Luckily we did wear bug spray so despite being concerned, we made it through the walk without having any problems.

Incredibly peaceful property. Ideal place to detox, unwind, take in the local natural beauty of the rainforest and the beaches. Staff are very friendly and hospitable.. The Day Spa was as relaxing as it was timely to speed up the ability to unwind on our arrival. The team here are really good at what they do. Restaurant is super casual, but don’t let that fool you. The menus offered for lunch and dinner are sublime, quite Eurocentric in its presentation, but given it is so well done, it works. Memorable meals include the Sous Vide Duck, the freshly shucked oysters, the seafood used, the desserts - especially the panna cotta. There are a couple of rock pools on the property. if you use the one near the main building, you get to enjoy Crocodile Spring Rolls - which were a bit of fun to have with a cocktail. Prices are good value, rooms are set in beautiful natural areas - some with forest views, some with water views. Go for the water views if you can, it is worth it to wake up to it each morning. Port Douglas is a little over 15 minutes drive north, and Palm Cove about 30 minutes south.

Breakfast should really be part of offered packages.

The main building is spectacular and the restaurant is great. The ability to order a golf cart at a moments notice and get ferried around the hilly side was great. The staff were great too.

The beach is remote and we were advised not to go in the sea, Both pools are under trees and freezing and so there was nowhere to swim. Surely a solar unit could be arranged on the main building roof to heat the top pool? We won’t stay again until this happens.

Fabulous views from our cabin. Walk to beach was lovely, and pool had a natural fresh water rainforest feel to it. Buggy staff were exceptional!

The continental breakfast was appalling. Evening menu at restaurant did not change, signature dishes were not individually flavoured as one would expect. Male waiter came over as misogynistic. Space around the pool is limited.

We had a wonderful family holiday. Beautiful location, the place is very well thought and with lots of details. The bungalow was comfortable, nice surroundings king bed was super comfy, we slept well in it. Good size for us and two young kids. Staff were really professional and all really nice Restaurant was good in a wonderful setting with the birds. We loved going to the private beach with this awesome beach walk, the swimming pool is beautiful and very nice paths with plenty of lookouts. The free tours (star grazing and coconut odyssey) were really nice and of good value. There was no wifi in the room (available near revocation though) but this was not an issue to me as I wanted to disconnect from the phone.

I wish the roll-away bed was not as an additional charge. I would have liked a « pool » menu with more affordable quick lunch options. Other than that I really don’t have anything I didn’t like
