The fact that this is more than just a place to stay while we visited Ypres was such a wonderful surprise . From the moment we arrived the attention to our comfort was paramount for Sofie. Both she and her husband had time to talk and gave wonderful suggestions for places to visit and to eat out. The room was delightful and so comfortable with every little extra available , such as toiletries and lovely clean towels every day. Outside of the room the quirky breakfast area was fantastic and the presentation each morning was a delight, the area also provided coffee, tea and hot chocolate whenever we wanted. The decoration of the house was so creative and the Christmas atmosphere made everything twice as pretty. My husband and I will certainly return to this unique and happy accommodation any time we visit Ypres.

Sophie and her husband are fabulous hosts. They couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. The B&B is just a few minutes walk to the centre of the town and the Menin Gate probably about 15 minutes walk. So convenient to everything. Good parking available a short walk away. But what can we say about the breakfasts - Sophie is a master at providing amazing breakfasts - not just continental but cooked breakfasts as well. Its worth staying just for breakfast. We have already recommended @Cocoon to others. We had 3 glorious days in Ypres.

Nothing - this was a brilliant B&B

Wonderful and very warm hosts, Sophie and Lode. Very central. Great breakfasts. Also the loveliness of Simone’s home, built as a home not a hotel. The hosts have presented it wonderfully. And you are about 5 minutes from the In Flanders Museum and another 2-3 to the Menin gate.

Parking not so easy to find, especially as Google/SatNav confused by all the one way system in Ypres. Suggest a clear indication of parking options and a note/diagram on how to get to them set out for guests ahead of arrival. But the parking is nearby, so once found, it’s very easy.

Rooms were next to the breakfast area which was in the first floor passage way of the main building. Sounds strange but the facilities worked really well. We had both rooms and the breakfast area to ourselves. An excellent choice of breakfast, either continental or cooked plus cereal's. Rooms were very clean and towels were changed every day after use. Cheaper then other hotels and B and B's in Ypres. Sophie, the landlady, worked hard to provide a good clean friendly service. Will use again.

Parking was in the street but off road but generally we had a space.

Sofie is a great host and hand cooked us a delicious breakfast of bacon and eggs. There is also a great choice of ham and cheese, plus cereals and fruit. She has a great knowledge of Ypres and gave us all the information we needed. The room we had was small, but perfect for our needs. Beds were very comfortable and the room has a separate toilet and shower which both have sliding doors for privacy. There is also a small roof area to relax in.

Parking could be an issue, but we were on motorbikes, so it was OK for us. I believe there is more parking nearby. This isn’t a fault of the property.

Sofie is the perfect host; friendly, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is plentiful and high quality. Location is perfect: just a few minutes walk from the centre. This was a repeat visit as we loved it si much last time. Sofie was able to advise us on where to eat as our usual restaurant was closed the night we were staying.

We had a slight problem with parking this time which we sorted, with Sofie's help. I would advise consulting Google/a dictionary if you don't understand the parking signs! Although the Menin Gate was covered as it undergoes work, the Last Post ceremony was as dignified, meaningful and well-attended as ever. Atmosphere around Ypres was friendly and welcoming, as always.

I cannot find anything to fault this place on, maybe parking, we where very lucky to get a space right outside but you're right in a town center so to be expected. Me and my Son stayed hear passing through from Dunkirk to Brussels and my only regret is we didn't have longer. Ypres is a wonderful small town and Cocoon is perfectly placed to explore from. The room was spacious and welcoming with a very reasonably priced mini bar, shower and toilet adequate and very clean. Just outside the room is a small eating area with 24 access to unlimited drinks and fruit etc: A really nice touch compared to a couple of sachets you get at most places. Sophie was the perfect host, living here herself she was not intrusive to your stay but very friendly, welcoming and made clear any requests would be met. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of variety, we filled up for our brief morning sightseeing long drive meaning we didn't eat again until the evening. The building has been renovated to a really high standard with care to keep original features blended with modern touches. The building has a history and a lot of character and they have put thought and hard work into keeping that, when many take the easy and cheaper option of modernising. I really hope to return to Ypres with my Wife one day and will definitely book Cocoon again.

I have no negative comments but will use this space to talk about Ypres, a wonderful little town with character and independent business's. Brilliantly unspoilt by chains, not a golden M arch in site :-) Flandlers field museum is a must, as is the last post played every night at Menin Gate. The people of Ypres are friendly and very respectful of the fallen men from the great war, they even seem somewhat guilty of living here and going about their lives. They all have a knowledge and appreciation that made our stay memorable. Further afield there are so many war graves, trenches, monuments, museums, you will not be short of places of interest or places to pay your respects.

Super English speaking host. Great breakfast. Ten minutes walk from Menin Gate, As a disabled badge holder I was able to park for free at the top of the road, . Could park only briefly outside the first floor property to load / unload. Super family restaurant 50 yards away (De Ruyffelaer)

No particular problems. Stairs may be a problem for some less mobile. One way road system means that the SATNAV struggles to get near the property but it is possible.

breakfast really well set out. Owner always came and said hi and even cooked eggs for you if you wished. Plenty to eat. Nice way to start the day. Food options nearby. Very close to all the action around Cloth hall and Menin Gate. Good base for Aussies to discover the battlefields around town.

Parking is not that straight forward. It is nearby and is free in the recommended area. Google maps sent us all over the place when we first arrived but you do work it out eventually.

Sophie is such an hospitable host, who loves a chat and ensures you have everything you need. The breakfast is so plentiful you won't need lunch. The rooms are cosy and well designed. If you get two rooms you have the whole floor to yourself, with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and snacks in the eating area just outside your door. The location is perfect, within easy walking distance of the train station and the centre of town, yet very quiet. A laundrette just around the corner is useful for travellers with washing to do too. An absolute pleasure to stay here!
