I first stayed at the ALT in Halifax, stayed at the St Johns branch in 2023, around Halloween, so when I had a chance to stay here again in October 2024, there was only one choice as far as I was concerned. I can't recommend these hotels enough, They're modern, stylish, nest and clean. The beds are like sleeping on a cloud, and they come with plenty of big floofy pillows. The St Johns hotel is within a few minutes walk of a bunch of bars and restaurants, a slightly longer walk of 5 or 10 minutes will take you to George Street and all the bars and restaurants you could possibly need.

Nothing, I literally can't find a fault with this hotel.

A favourite as far as Alt hotels go in particular & I’ve stayed at quite a few over the years travelling. 🤍Adored the creative touches so much! The puffin glasswork in the room, the photo collage in the lobby, the tiny garden & picnic table outside. Although the room is very small the use of space is smart. Customer service was lovely.

Expensive for one night stay. Was travelling for a week + but limited our stay to one night here because too costly to do more nights. Restaurant was really nice, would have liked to see more seafood options though? & expensive also. Seeing a menu with more $ range when travelling is appreciated.

Great location to walk around downtown St. John’s. Staff super nice and friendly. Fun lobby to hang out in.

Room was quite small. King size bed took up most of the space. The water view was essentially a massive boat parked outside the window. Not what I would consider a ‘view’. Windows on outside were not clean. No fridge in the room. This was their premium room at a premium price. So value for money for the room itself was not there.

The location in downtown St. John's is great. I liked the view from the room, the staff in the front desk very accommodating and friendly. The beds were more comfortable, than most hotels and the room very clean. It was also surprisingly quiet.

I found the shortage of space for two people and their luggage a bit challenging at times. Service at breakfast was not the best, with long waits and mixed up orders, maybe due to shortage of staff.

The location made our trip memorable - right on the St. John’s Harbour and walking distance to all the great shops and restaurants in Historic downtown. We walked everywhere, using our hotel as a base - including to the Battery. We loved the little coffee shop in our lobby, great atmosphere, modern, very clean, and our bed linens and toiletries all smelled amazing. Free parking provided in their parkade.

The hotel is modern and situated in the heart of downtown. We had beautiful views of the Harbour from our room. Access to restaurants and local attractions was very easy and quick. The room was wonderful and had some nice amenities like automatic blinds.

Overall I thought the price was high but that's the price for staying in the city. The area wasn't quite what I expected but again more of a lack of research of what the city itself looked like. Also there was construction right outside the hotel however other than anesthetics it didn't really bother us, the noise could not be heard from our roo..

Clean and modern hotel and rooms. Cafe was great and the service was excellent. Great location. Rooms are on the smaller size scale compared with other area hotels but was comfortable for two people for a night or two.

We needed oversized vehicle parking (mid size truck). There is limited oversized vehicle parking and although we were issued a permit all of the spaces were taken (and there were small cars in some of the spaces) so we had to find street parking.

The ALT Hotel in St. John's Newfoundland, is located on the harbour in the heart of Jelly Bean Row. It's a photographer's paradise. My small dog, Sparky, and I roamed the streets snapping photographs of the wonderfully coloured houses and stores. The hotel is also close to the famous George Street the location of nightly live musical performances and Water Street with its vast selection of good restaurants. Loved the neighbourhood! Lynda L. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel has a very casual, contemporary vibe - it reminded us of stylish hotels in Europe. Our room was comfortable, quiet and spotless. The hotel is really close to restaurants, pubs, shops, attractions, and the harbour. As we were leaving, some local musicians were jamming in the lobby on fiddle and mandolin, which was a perfect end to our visit.

great breakfast if the cafe was properly stocked, the ambience, i.e. the variety of the people staying there and the fact that no bus loads with tourists stayed there at least not when I did.

that some items in the cafe were not always available, the horrific, extremely loud motorcycle traffic and the street cleaning van at 1 or 2am.
